Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 120

Chapter 120

The hospital in the early hours of the morning was the quietest time of the day. The morning fog blanketed the inpatient wing and the entire hospital lay dormant.

Derek parked his car and hurried up the stairs, stopping at the door of one of the wards. Through the door and window, he caught sight of Emily.

The ward remained unlit, allowing the soft morning light to filter in and cast a pallid, almost translucent hue on her face. He heard that she was undergoing a blood transfusion for a young girl, leaving her drained and hospitalized, sacrificing herself for a stranger's child.

Derek pushed the door open and entered.

Approaching her bedside, his voice was gentle. Emily, perhaps recognizing him despite her restless sleep, abruptly opened her eyes. "What are you doing here?" she asked incredulously as she sat up.

"I came to see you," Derek replied, taking a seat on the edge of her hospital bed. The dim morning light accentuated his features, his eyes seemingly holding depths of emotion.

Emily's heart fluttered uneasily. "You should not waste your time on me."

"Do you know why I love you?" Derek's gaze met hers steadily. "Because you're Emily, my wife."

"What?" Emily's mind still clouded by the early hour, struggled to grasp his words. "I don't understand."

"You're my wife, the mother of our four children," Derek explained, his voice low yet resolute. "I've been searching for you for four years, and now I've found you…"

Without reservation, he enveloped Emily in his embrace. His touch, warm and reassuring, jolted her awake. Stepping back, she avoided his embrace.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" she asked, finding the situation incredulous yet sensing the truth in Derek's words.

"It's complicated," Derek admitted, meeting her gaze. "I've called Peter; he'll be here in Kinnis in two hours. When he arrives, you'll know everything."

Emily frowned. "Can't you just tell me now?"

Derek's voice resonated deeply. "Peter's a psychiatrist who knows hypnosis; he can jog a person's dormant memories and should be able to help you remember what happened four years ago."

Emily furrowed her brow.

She had consulted a doctor before, and he did mention that hypnosis could aid in recalling past events. However, there were only a handful of hypnotists worldwide proficient enough to effectively help people recall memories. She had searched for one but couldn't find any.

Now, presented with such a significant opportunity, she couldn't afford to let it slip away.

"Mr. Scott, thank you," Emily said.

Derek glanced at her. "Emily, you don't have to say that to me."

Emily lowered her eyes, unsure of what to say until everything was confirmed. If she truly was Derek's wife, then...

She thought of the four children; their smiling faces and endearing expressions were etched vividly in her memory. They had expressed a desire for her to be their mommy... Perhaps she was indeed their mother.

"If hypnosis fails, I'll arrange a paternity test," Derek whispered.

Emily's heart sank.

Outside, the sky gradually brightened as the sunrise painted the heavens. Derek whispered, "Do you want to watch the sunrise?"

Emily turned her head to look out the window. Her body responded before her mind could catch up. "Okay, let's go."

As she rose from bed, Derek draped a jacket over her shoulders. "It's cool in the morning; you should put this on."

"Thanks," Emily murmured.

The previous night, upon learning that Derek might have taken her as someone else, she had fled back to Kinnis. Now, upon discovering she might be Derek's wife, she found herself inexplicably drawn to him once again. She couldn't comprehend her own thoughts.

The two headed to the hospital's rooftop, standing on the twelfth floor, where they watched the sunrise slowly unfold.

The gentle morning breeze tousled Emily's hair, and in that moment, her heart felt strangely tranquil. She watched the sunrise while Derek watched her, his gaze tracing her features as though he couldn't get enough.

As the sun pierced through the clouds, its golden rays illuminated Emily's face, casting her in a beautiful light.

This visage of hers was subtly different from four years ago. She appeared more mature now, with an added touch of composure to her temperament, rendering her face even more beautiful.

Derek harbored the desire to embrace her in his arms. Just as this sentiment surged within him, Emily slowly turned her head, and in that instant, their eyes locked. Four eyes met.

Emily gazed into Derek's eyes, where deep love flowed like an endless ocean, washing over her heart, muscles, and skin. Her whole body trembled slightly. Derek observed her silently, inching closer.

In a sudden flash, Emily pushed him away. "It's time to return to the ward," she stated, pursing her lips tightly. She wrapped her jacket around herself and hurried downstairs.

A smirk tugged at the corner of Derek's mouth. She harbored feelings for him too; she simply needed time to process them.

Upon returning to the hospital room, Peter was already there. At the sight of Emily, his eyes widened. "It's really you. I thought you were dead..."

Before he could finish, Derek's icy glare silenced him. He then said, "Let me hypnotize you to recover your memories."

Emily had awaited this moment eagerly. Throughout her years in Kinnis, she had pondered her identity incessantly. Without knowledge of her origins, how could she discern her destination?

Emily cooperated fully with Peter. In less than ten minutes, she was under hypnosis. Retrieving suppressed memories was immensely challenging, but in cases of purely physical memory loss, hypnosis could be effective.

Thanks to Emily's openness, the process proceeded remarkably smoothly. In what felt like an hour, or perhaps even less, Emily stirred from her trance, greeted by five faces: Derek and their four children.

Fragmented memories flashed through Emily's mind like a slideshow. She remembered so much. Every detail slowly pieced together, forming her past, her life...

Suddenly, she sat up abruptly. "I had a baby!" Emily's eyes widened in realization.
