Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Emily slept until after eleven o'clock at night. When she woke up, the entire family villa had succumbed to a deep slumber, with both the children and servants sound asleep.

"Awake?" a crisp voice echoed in her ears.

She squinted open her eyes and mumbled, "Derek, I'm hungry."

Derek chuckled softly, "Rest a little more; I'll go downstairs and cook for you. It'll take about half an hour."

Emily nodded with her eyes closed, finding solace in the prospect of a little more sleep.

As she drifted in and out of consciousness, her cerebral cortex unusually active, she surprisingly began to dream.

She found herself traversing a white valley with mountains and layers of green trees, directionless and weak.

With each step, her legs gave out, and she felt the desperation of trying to break free from the dream. Finally standing up, she struggled across a swamp, and as the path leveled, she attempted to open her eyes without success.

Suddenly, a swarm of bats swept past her. Instinctively, she picked up an object and swatted it into the air, evading the persistent bats. A door materialized in front of her, and upon opening it, the scenery changed abruptly—the bats vanished, and a wolf crept along the mountain path.

The green eyes of the wolf fixated on her, poised to pounce at any moment. Forgetting that it was just a dream, Emily, holding a knife, advanced with determination, slashing downward. A childish shriek interrupted the surreal encounter.

"Emily, what are you doing!"

An enraged voice echoed through the room.

Emily's eyes, previously closed in sleep, snapped open. Realization struck—she wasn't lying in her bed in the master bedroom; instead, she stood in Aaron's room. Glancing around, she saw she was barefoot on the floor, right beside Aaron's bed, and in her hand, she held a fruit knife.

The fruit knife clattered to the floor with a crunching sound.

Aaron, fear evident in his voice, cried, "Mommy, was I too disobedient? I was wrong. I will work hard, look up to my brothers and sister, won't be lazy anymore..."

Aaron's cries resonated, quickly attracting the other three children.

Incredulously, Emily turned her head to meet the children's eyes, as dark as the night sky. She took a step back, realizing the gravity of her actions.

"What on earth had I done?" she wondered.

"Chris, take care of Aaron and stay put," Derek ordered. He picked Emily up and returned to the master bedroom.

Emily, frozen, attempted to explain, "Derek, it's not what you saw. I had a dream. I thought Aaron was a wolf, so I..."

The dream was horrifying. If Derek hadn't intervened, her knife might have stabbed into Aaron's body. The mere thought of that possibility made her body tremble.

Late at night, Chris knocked on Derek's study door and entered.

"Daddy, can we talk for a minute?" Chris asked in a calm voice, looking up at Derek.

Derek nodded his head calmly, "Sure."

Chris was the smartest and most stable among the four children, and Derek found it hard for him to treat Chris like an ordinary kid.

Regarding Emily's situation, Derek didn't hide it from Chris. After all, even without saying anything, the astute Chris would notice something abnormal.

"Mommy's situation seems to be getting worse," Chris's childish yet sophisticated voice echoed in Derek's ears.

Derek, losing the ease and gentleness he had in front of Emily, replied with a deep voice, "Chris, I'm trying to figure it out."

In fact, he had long investigated the drug Gimson gave Emily to drink that day.

That was a new type of potion containing a novel virus, X. This virus, once introduced into the human body, would gradually impact a person's emotions, psychology, and memory.

Initially, the patient would become irritable and angry, undergoing a complete transformation of their original personality. As time progressed, the patient would gradually lose their memories, morphing into an entirely different individual.

Contemplating this, Derek's fists unconsciously clenched.

Gimson not only aimed to take Emily away but also intended to transform her into a different person, a lunatic akin to himself.

Derek sought advice from numerous medical experts, but all conveyed a singular solution: Emily had to face the challenge alone. Another option involved increasing the medicine dosage to suppress the manic X virus in Emily's blood. However, this approach came with numerous side effects, and augmenting the dosage risked further nerve irritation.

"Daddy, perhaps we can explore unconventional methods," Chris suggested slowly. "I've heard about technology in some underground secret laboratories abroad that can exchange a patient's blood. If we replace all the blood containing the X virus in Mommy's body, she might return to normal."

"Chris," Derek said, eyeing him, "do you comprehend the implications? Blood replacement is a complex surgery, even beyond the capabilities of modern medicine. Moreover, trusting those secretive underground labs is risky."

Chris pursed his lips. "But Daddy, if we let Mommy continue like this, her emotions will escalate, leading her to irreversible actions. When she regains control, she'll be overwhelmed with blame and guilt. Her entire being will collapse after years of such emotional turmoil, gradually losing her original memories and personality. Would she still be our Mommy then?"

"Rather than subjecting Mommy to daily torment, we should consider trying it."

Derek fell silent for a moment before speaking hoarsely, "Chris, have you considered the possibility that the surgery might fail? What if something goes wrong on the operating table? What if there are severe side effects after the blood exchange?"

"And what if something happens to Mommy in her current state?" Chris retorted, pursing his lips. "Daddy, you can think it over for a few days."

With that, he opened the study door and walked out.
