Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 90

Chapter 90

After tucking a couple of kids into bed, Emily and Derek returned to their room.

"Derek, I wanted to ask you how it went with Serena," Emily inquired after much deliberation.

Derek gave Emily a teasing look. "Are you jealous, honey?"

Emily looked away, a little embarrassed. "No, it's just..."

However, Derek suddenly interrupted her. "Look, it's all in the past between Serena and me. You're the only one in my heart right now, so don't worry about it. Serena's return isn't going to have any effect on our lives, okay?"

After saying that, Derek reached out and touched Emily's head.

Hearing Derek's sincere tone, Emily's face couldn't help but turn red. "No, Derek, I'm feeling a little off. Listen to me; I saw you tonight before we met at the bar, and you were talking to Serena."

"What?" Derek frowned at Emily's words.

"Yes, but the next second, you were gone, and then I walked over to talk to Serena for a moment, only for you to suddenly come out the other side again. I was still in shock." Emily couldn't stop thinking about that strange scene.

However, Derek fell silent. It was only after a while that he finally spoke. "I think the one you saw was my brother."

"Your brother?" Emily visibly froze; she'd never heard of Derek having any brothers.

"Yes," Derek began to explain patiently, "My brother and I are twins, but he was stolen from us when we were first born. It was a scandal for the entire Scott family, so the news was sealed off. Over the years, our Scott family has been secretly investigating my brother's whereabouts with no luck. Serena called me to tell me that she has news about my brother, so I agreed to meet with her. After the meeting, we first chatted about some recent developments, and then Serena told me that she had met someone who looked exactly like me in foreign countries during those years of development. As you know, Serena's family has a deep connection with our Scott family, so Serena easily learned about my brother from my mom."

Derek's brow remained furrowed as he uttered those words.

"That's great, then. If that man yesterday was really your brother, then your family can be reunited, can't it?" Emily said, looking at Derek's serious expression with relief.

"That's what's strange, Emily. Serena didn't mention that my brother had returned when she talked to me yesterday."

Emily froze.

Why would Serena hide the fact that Derek's brother had returned? And why didn't Derek's brother just meet with Derek if he was already back?

It was all just too peculiar.

Observing Emily with a contemplative frown, Derek suddenly smiled. "Don't worry about it, honey. Since he didn't decide to meet with me directly and instead chose to sneak back here, telling me through Serena that he still exists, he must have his reasons. We just need to wait and see what he really wants to do."

Derek experienced mixed emotions when he spoke those words. On one hand, he desired to reunite with his brother, but on the other hand, his years of fighting in the mall had made him realize that things were not as simple as he thought. His intuition told him that his so-called brother must be scheming something, but he secretly hoped what he felt was wrong.

Emily frowned, paused, and said, "Serena and your mother seem to have a good relationship. In the future, tell your mother to stay away from Serena."

Derek was aware of this concern too.

His face grew heavy, like dark clouds sweeping across the sky. He didn't want any factor to ruin his current happiness, but the uneasiness in his heart intensified, leaving Derek unable to calm down.

Emily and Derek had been busy with work for the past few days, and this day, the company called. "Ms. Hopkins, there's a meeting today. Do you want to attend in person?"

Emily nodded and said, "I'm ready to leave now."

"Do you want me to go with you?" Derek asked, his voice soft as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

Emily smiled. "It's just a quick thing. You don't need to accompany me. I'll go first."

However, Derek tightened his arms around her waist and wouldn't let go. His voice muffled, he said, "I want a goodbye kiss."

Blushing, Emily dodged away. But Derek wore a roguish look on his face, as if he wouldn't let go until she gave him a kiss. Emily could only helplessly tiptoe and give Derek a hasty kiss.

"Mommy and Daddy are actually kissing in the living room!" Aaron's voice suddenly rang in their ears.

Startled, Emily looked down to see four little ones standing beside her and Derek, their eyes gleaming as they stared.

Blushing, she said, "Aren't you guys playing in the yard..."

"Hee hee, Mommy seems shy," Aaron burst out laughing. "Why isn't Mommy shy when she kisses me?"

Unsure how to respond, Emily tugged at the corner of her mouth, wanting to silence Aaron.

Chris interjected, "Aaron, didn't you say you wanted to compete with me on who's stronger? Go on."

Diana nodded. "I'll be the referee."

Ian applauded. "I'll cheer you guys on!"

Aaron's competitive spirit overcame the awkward moment, and the four kids went back to playing around.

Giving Derek a stern look, Emily said, "If you ever do something like that again, I'll never talk to you again."

Derek touched his nose and coughed. "Honey, I was wrong. I won't dare again."

The term "Honey," like an electric current, hit Emily's heart, filling it with sweetness. For the first time, she realized how sweet the feeling of being in love could be.

Pursing her lips, she smiled. "I'll go busy with my work first. I'll see you in the evening." She grabbed her small purse and stepped out in her high heels.
