Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Early in the morning, sunlight came into the room, and Emily woke up.
She rubbed her head. She drank a lot yesterday and now had a headache. She noticed that Louise was already gone.
Emily got up quickly. Where was Louise?
She hurriedly ran downstairs.
"Emily, you're up." Louise stuffed a sandwich into her mouth. She was enjoying breakfast when she looked up and saw Emily poking her head out of the stairs.
"Come and eat. Teresa's cooking is so great." Louise raised her hand and greeted Emily with the food in her hand.
"Just go ahead. I'll go see the children." Emily ran her hand through her hair and turned back.
She came to the children's room and saw that the kids were sleeping soundly. She didn't know what Diane was dreaming about. Diane opened her mouth and smiled. Emily also smiled. Chris was frowning when he was asleep. Emily helped him smooth his hair. Chris was laughing in his sleep.
Emily tried not to make a sound and gently closed the door.
Then, she went to the bathroom to wash up and brush her teeth. For some reason, she thought of Chris' sleeping face. He looked very much like Derek when he frowned, but this thought just flashed through her mind.
"Emily, hurry up. I'll be done eating," Louise called out to her.
"Coming." Emily quickly rinsed her mouth. She could no longer remember what she just thought about.
"Teresa made a delicious soup." Emily scooped some more. She had a drink last night and now felt uncomfortable in her throat. After drinking the soup, she felt warm in her stomach.
"No, I have to go." Louise looked at the time and hurried out.
"Be safe," Emily said. "Well, this is the apple pie Teresa prepared for you. Take it with you."
Louise ran back to pick up the apple pie and hugged Emily and Teresa.
Only Teresa and Emily were left in the dining room.
"Are Chris and Diane still asleep?" Teresa asked.
"Yeah, they waited for me and slept late last night." Emily smiled at the mention of the two children.
"I'll wrap up the rest of the sandwiches and put them in the fridge. The kids can eat then after they wake up." Teresa tidied up the kitchen and prepared to drive off for some groceries.
She asked Emily if she needed anything before leaving.
Emily looked at the schedule for today. It was Diane's filming day for the ad. She had to wake the children up, or they would be late.
Emily pulled the curtains and leaned over to rub her cheeks against Chris' face. Chris rubbed his eyes and woke up.
"My dear, go wash up. We need to go to the studio today," Emily said gently.
Chris nodded. He was a little dazed after waking up. After a while, he got off the bed and walked into the bathroom.
"Diane, it's time to get up," Emily said with her face close to Diane.
Diane hugged Emily's neck with her eyes closed. "Mommy, let me sleep a little longer. Just a little longer."
Emily felt her heart soften. "No, Diane. You have work to do today. Do you remember?"
When Chris came out of the bathroom, he saw that Diane was still in bed. He climbed onto the bed and placed his wet hand on her face.
Diane trembled and woke up.
"Chris, you bad guy!" Diane roared in anger. "I don't want to talk to you anymore!"
"Lazybones, Mommy is calling you, why aren't you getting up?" Chris threatened her, "Teresa made delicious food. If you don't get up, I will eat it all."
"Chris, no way!" Diane stood up on the bed in fury.
She didn't dare to jump off the bed, so she stretched out her hands to Emily. "Mommy, hug me."
Emily held back her laughter and carried Diane to the ground. Only Chris could make Diane do things.
"Mommy, quick, brush my teeth." Seeing that Emily was laughing, Diane stomped her feet anxiously. What if Chris ate her food? She was hungry.
Diane rubbed her belly and sighed.
"Chris won't eat your food." Emily laughed.
Chris was waiting at the door. He couldn't help but glare at Diane. She would take all the chances to make Emily hug her.
Emily asked them to sit on the chairs and she heated the food for them.
"It's so delicious. I can finish another one." Diane was happy. Her plate was empty because Emily said that she couldn't waste food.
Emily was afraid that Diane would eat too much, so she reached out and rubbed her belly.
"Mommy, it's so itchy." Diane laughed.
"Only one more piece, Diane. Eating too much can give you stomach aches." Emily reminded Diane.
"Mommy, I got it." Diane nodded.
Chris sighed. He picked up a napkin and wiped the milk on Diane's lips. Diane giggled at him.
"Mommy, are we really twins?" Chris asked seriously.
"Yes, what's wrong, baby?" Emily patted Chris on the head.
"Why is my twin sister so stupid?" Chris sighed and shook his head.
Emily burst into laughter and Diane ran after Chris angrily.
When Emily cleaned up the table and took the dishes to the kitchen, the children had already made up with each other. They played like this every day.
Emily knew that Chris didn't mind Diane. He was using his way to help Diane. Diane liked to slack off, but she knew that Chris was good to her. Although they usually argued, if they were separated, they would immediately cry and look for each other.
Chris was tapping something on his laptop while Diane watched quietly.
Emily limited the hours Chris spent on his laptop. He was too young, and spending too much time on the computer would hurt his eyes and make him less socialized.
When Chris saw Emily come out, he turned off his laptop right away.
"Mommy, where are we going?" Chris asked.
"We are going to film an advertisement for 'Dream Kids'. We have to be there soon. The shooting will start at 10 o'clock. It will take about a day," Emily said as she flipped through the plan.
"Chris, we will be staying in the studio of 'Dream Kids'. You might feel bored," Emily said as she crouched.
"Mommy, have you forgotten that I have a job, too? Diane and I will be filming together." Chris didn't want Emily to feel bad.
"Yeah, Mommy. Chris and I can take photos together. I'm so happy. I must be prettier than him." Diane clapped happily.
"Stupid Diane, I'm a boy. You can't say that I'm pretty." Chris corrected her.
Diane stuck her tongue out at Chris.
Soon, Emily took them to the car. Their house was not too far from the studio, and they arrived within an hour.
Emily received a call, and after confirming the process, she hung up.
Lately, Emily rarely took jobs for Diane. She hoped that Diane would have more time to play, so she carefully selected the companies for Diane.
"Let's go. We'll go put on makeup." Emily locked the car and held Chris with one hand and Diane with the other. The three went to the studio.
