Chapter 23

　　By the time Derek returned, his expression had returned to normal. There was no sign of panic.

　　"Daddy!" Ian waved his hand at Derek. He looked so happy. Not only could he enjoy himself in the amusement park, but he also had Daddy with him. There were also Emily and the kids he liked to play with. It was joyful to have fun with other kids. Chris and Diane were not like other children he had met before. They always bullied Aaron. Today was Ian's happiest day.

　　Derek held four ice creams in his hands. He didn't look bossy and aloof anymore. Emily actually felt that Derek was cute.

　　Derek noticed the smile on Emily's face. His intuition told him that she was smiling because of him. He couldn't help but feel nervous. After distributing the ice creams to the four children, he said to Emily, "Do you want one? I'll get one for you."

　　Then, he left in a hurry before Emily replied.

　　Emily blinked in confusion.

　　At this moment, the four children surrounded her, asking her to try their ice creams.

　　"Emily, try mine."

　　"Mommy, my ice cream is yummy."

　　After Emily tasted all their ice creams, the children asked her which one tasted the best. They looked at Emily with anticipation, as if they all thought that their ice cream was the best.

　　Thanks to Emily's rich experience of raising children, she said, "You guys are all so smart and picked the most delicious flavors."

　　The children enjoyed their ice creams after hearing this.

　　"Why hasn't daddy returned yet?" Ian wanted Derek to try his ice cream, but he almost finished it.

　　"Derek is back," Diane shouted.

　　Emily looked up and felt amused.

　　Derek was holding ice creams, and he was followed by two bodyguards. One was holding ice creams with other flavors, and the other with balloons. All the kids at the amusement park looked at those things with envy.

　　Since they caught a lot of attention, Emily pretended that she did not know Derek.

　　Diane and Ian enjoyed the envious gazes of the children around them. They shouted and pounced toward Derek.

　　Chris' face was tense, but he couldn't help looking at the balloons, and so did Aaron.

　　"Daddy, did you buy all these?" Ian was excited. He kept jumping and couldn't wait to choose his favorite balloon.

　　"Yes, do you like them?" Derek wanted to rub Ian's head, but he couldn't since he was holding ice cream in his hand.

　　"I do." Ian laughed happily.

　　Derek looked at Emily, "I don't know what flavor you prefer, so I got you several to choose from," he explained.

　　Emily nodded. She couldn't help but laugh.

　　"The strawberry flavor will do." Emily took an ice cream cone from Derek.

　　"Mommy, can I have another one?" Diane shook Emily's arm.

　　Chris also looked at Emily.

　　Chris was sensible and rarely asked for anything. Emily rubbed his head. "Sweetheart, do you want another one?"

　　Chris also felt like eating, but he said, "I do, Mommy. But I won't if you don't want me to."

　　Chris thought, 'Mommy said that kids would have a stomachache if they ate too much ice cream.'

　　Emily said gently, "Both you and Diane can eat one more, but if you guys aren't feeling well, you must tell me, okay?"

　　"That's great! Mommy is the best." Diane spun around happily.

　　Ian looked up at Derek. Derek said resignedly, "You can do the same."

　　Ian picked up two ice creams happily. Then, he walked to Aaron and handed one to him.

　　Aaron ran to Emily and held the ice cream high.

　　"Aaron, do you want me to eat it?" Emily was surprised.

　　Aaron nodded. Ian looked at Aaron in dismay, but he thought that since he was happy to be in the amusement park, he wouldn't argue with Emily.

　　Emily took a bite of Aaron's ice cream and said, "It's delicious."

　　"Do you want to try mine?" Emily asked as she handed her ice cream to Aaron.

　　Aaron's eyes widened in delight. Then, he took a small bite and laughed, revealing his teeth.

　　Ian was shocked. He ran to Derek and asked, "Daddy, Aaron eats things that Emily has eaten."

　　"I don't know why. Aaron likes Emily for no reason." Derek looked at Emily and Aaron.

　　Ian ran to Aaron again. "Aaron, is your ice cream good? I want to..."

　　Aaron looked at Ian. Before Ian could finish speaking, Aaron finished the ice cream.

　　Ian was stunned.

　　Diane laughed loudly, and Ian chased after her in anger.

　　"Don't run! I want to eat your ice cream," Ian shouted.

　　And so, the six of them began their fun-filled day at the amusement park.

　　Children were always restless, especially in the amusement park. There were so many new and fun things here that could attract them.

　　After a short while, the four children ran to the front, leaving Emily and Derek behind.

　　They looked at the vigorous children gently. Other people would all think that they were a couple.

　　"You are good at taking care of kids," Derek said.

　　Emily knew that Derek must have dug into her past after her delivery. Otherwise, with his personality, even if Aaron liked her very much, he would allow him to get so close to her.

　　"I've got more experienced after taking care of Chris and Diane," Emily replied.

　　"But Aaron and Ian are against Rose." Derek continued to ask.

　　Emily's smile disappeared. Although she liked Aaron and Ian, she always felt upset when she thought that Rose was their mother. Now, Derek brought up the matter that she wanted to forget and ruined her good mood.

　　"I don't know how close they are with Rose." Emily was a little angry.

　　Derek noticed the change in Emily's mood. He regretted ruining the atmosphere.

　　"Mommy, I want to take this!" Diane ran over and pulled Emily. She saw the merry-go-round and wanted to ride it like a princess.

　　"Okay, I'll go with you. Let's ride the same horse, okay?" Emily squatted down and said to Diane.

　　By the time Derek came to his senses, he was already sitting on the same horse with Aaron and Ian.

　　The space was not enough for three people, and Derek sat on the horse's butt, which made him look funny.

　　Aaron and Ian looked at Diane and Chris who were screaming happily next to them. Thinking of Emily's soft embrace, they disliked Derek for the first time. They also wanted to take the merry-go-round with Emily.

　　Noticing Aaron and Ian's disdainful gazes, Derek had a long face. After the merry-go-round, he got Aaron and Ian down, looking gloomy.

　　The moment the boys reached the ground, they pounced on Emily.

　　"Emily, can we ride the horse in your arms?" Ian begged.

　　Aaron's eyes were also filled with anticipation. Emily looked at Derek's expression and her mood suddenly became better.

　　"Sure," Emily agreed. "Derek, take care of Chris and Diane."

　　Derek looked at Ian, who was shouting excitedly on the merry-go-round, and Aaron, who was smiling. Emily was looking at them affectionately. Then, Derek smiled at the sweet scene.
