Chapter 90. THE PAIN
Chapter 90. THE PAIN
SARAH COX
I have been here for weeks, unable to get out and sad. Mark locks me every time he wants to go out and it would have been better if he doesn't tie me to a chair but he believes I'd come up with a means to escape which was true.
I wanted to go home. I was tired. I wanted to kill myself too but each time I think of dying, I remember that I was yet to apologize to my parents so I couldn't die just yet.
The door opened and Mark walked in with an ebony-haired lady. She was tall as she stood at the same height as Mark without heels on.
Her face was marked win a frantic expression the minute she saw me. Could I blame her? I looked like a rag.
I barely took my bath or changed my clothes and anytime I took my bath, Mark took them for me as he feared I'd run away.
He was a monster. I never knew and I ran away with him and this is the consequence of my actions.
"Who is she?" Asked the ebony-haired lady in a deep British accent.
"Her," Mark pointed at me before he scoffed.
"She's nothing but an ungrateful bitch," Mark told her.
"She's my maid. I took her from the streets and fed her but she decided to steal from me and run away and so I decided to treat her as trash," he added.
Those were the words coming from a man I thought loved me. He had lied. He never loved me. He was after my parent's wealth and when things didn't end up rosy for us, he thought taking me away with him would bring something for him.
Honestly, I do not know what his aim was but one thing I know is that he never loved me and I regret ever loving someone like him.
"She looks like someone from the gutter," she snickered.
I could care less about what she has to say about me. At this point, I deserve to be called shitty for what I had done to my family. If only I could get access to the internet or a phone, I would send a message to my family to come to get me.
I know they would come. I know it but it worried me at the same time; what if they do not come?
"Come on, let's leave the rag to her special wooden chair," Mark snarked before walking away with the lady he came with.
I clenched the chair with tears in my eyes. I wanted to run away and all means I came up with were impossible as Mark never let his guards down.
Maybe this would be the perfect opportunity. While he is busy with his lady, I would steal his phone, send a text to Sophia as I have her number saved in my head, and delete it. I'd wait for them to come to get me because even if I plan to escape, I have nothing on me at all to use for the transportation fee.
"What are you doing here?" Mark sneered when I entered the room with the lady he came with. They were kissing when I entered and he stopped kissing her.
For someone like him who doesn't have money, I wonder how he was able to lure the lady to come here. I wonder if he has gotten a job and if he does, I could care less at this point.
"I... I came to..." I had not thought of an excuse before coming here and that was why I was having difficulty coming up with a lie.
"What do you want stupid woman!" He snapped and I flinched from the sound of his tone.
Lately, he doesn't spare me any chance and is quick to flare up.
"I came... to... ask you to ..help me with some mint chewing... gum," I stuttered.
He was taken aback by my words which I'm guessing as a result of him not expecting that I'd ask for that.
"You are senile and you do not realize it yet," he chuckled.
"You want some chewing gum and that is why you have come here?" He clicked his tongue.
"Do you think I should give it to her? Is she worth it?" He asked the ebony blonde-haired woman who stared at me as if I was a disgusting sight to look at.
"Give it to her. The room is starting to smell as it is and I wouldn't want to choke from her smell," she scrunched her nose and I felt my stomach clench.
I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat, waiting patiently for him to give me what I had asked for.
I wanted his phone and I'd make sure to get it by all means. I waited patiently for him to answer me.
"Here," he said, throwing the chewing gum for me to catch and I caught it.
"Leave this instance," he spat and I nodded my head.
Just before I reached the door, a fantastic idea popped into my head.
"Your dirty clothes. I can help wash them," I told him and he stared at me as if he didn't hear me properly.
"You want to wash my clothes?" He chuckled out loud.
"What's up with you today? You are acting strange," he snickered.
"Are you listening to her?" He asked the ebony-haired woman who laughed along with him.
"Are you sure she isn't mentally unstable?" She asked and he shrugged.
"Why do you suddenly want to wash my clothes? Why do I feel you have an evil plan but trust me when I tell you that I won't make it work," he said in a stern tone.
I walked closer to him. This was my only way and I'd have to get his phone even if I have to get pushed and slapped by him.
"Mark," I called in a calm gentle tone with tears in my eyes.
"Mark you told me that you loved me," I said.
"What's wrong with you sick woman?" He questioned, his brows wriggling.
"You told me that you want us to be together. I know I was bad for what I did and I've thought about it. This is not fair," I cried and fell to my knees.
"You can't bring another woman with me here and try to kiss her. I thought you loved me and you said it's till death we will apart," I reminded him.
He moved his leg from my hold. "What is wrong with you woman? What the fuck are doing?" He snapped.
"I know I was wrong and I've realized it so please forgive me and let's get back together," I cried, holding onto his legs again.
"You are crazy. You are crazy and it's nothing new. Just what do you want," he asked, pulling his leg once again from my hold.
"You were a thing with her?" The lady asked.
"No. Not. As you said, she could be a psycho. When I have enough money, I'd be sure to send her there because she needs it," he told her before he squatted down to my height level.
"I will heal you but for now you have to leave," he whispered harshly.
He was using his eyes to warn me to leave or he'd be forced to send hit me but I refused to. Not until he gave me his clothes to wash.
"I will leave. Give me your dirty clothes and I'd leave," I told him.
"It's the dirty clothes you want right?" He asked and I nodded my head.
"Okay. Fine. You will get them. Wait here," he said, getting back on his feet and making his way to go get his dirty clothes.
"You better not try anything funny Sarah because if male sure you regret it," he warned and I nodded my head.
He came back some minutes with his dirty clothes and gave them to me. I smiled at him and got up on my feet.
"Thanks so much. I'd make sure to wash them and bring them back," I told him and left the room with his clothes in my hands.
My plan was simple. Take his dirty clothes, wash them and return them later. While folding them, I'd use that as a means to get his phone, and hopefully, his password would still be the same because I won't be able to access it if his password has changed.
I washed his clothes that night. I was unable to sleep because the lady kept moaning or rather making an irritating sound that made me cringe all day long.
It was past six in the evening she left and his clothes were dry already.
"You better not try anything funny. I'm just going to see her off so you better be careful," he warned and I nodded my head.
"I will fold and keep your clothes on the bed," I told him
Thankfully his phone was on the nightstand when I entered the room. I dropped the clothes on the bed knowing that sending the text message mattered more than anything.
I tried the password I know he uses and thankfully it opened. I heaved a sigh of relief.
I clicked on the message icon and quickly typed my message.
TO SOPHIA: This is Sarah and I need your help. Please come get me. Please come get me. I'm in danger and please make your movement discreet for my safety.
I sent adding the address and added an image of myself so she could see my current situation.
I deleted the text from Mark's phone after I had sent it and deleted all records so that he wouldn't notice.
I dropped his phone back on the nightstand and began to fold his clothes.
The door opened and slammed hard and I flinched from the sound.
"Where is she?" I heard his shout and I run outside to meet him.
"I'm here," I said nervously.
"I thought you would escape," he said, glaring at me.
"I told you that I wouldn't. I was... Folding your clothes... In the room." I was nervous. My heart was beating in my chest.
"Good. Now we have a lot to talk about, what was that you displayed earlier? You made a mistake?" He scoffed, walking closer to me.
"Yes...I... Did," I stuttered.
"You do not fool me, Sarah. I am the last person you should think of fooling. I can tell something is up and no matter what you do, I've got my eyes on you," he said, scrutinizing me.
"Why would I lie to you?" I asked just as he was about to walk past me.
He halted on his track.
"What are you saying?" He asked, tilting his head to look at me.
"You hurt me Mark and that was why I wanted to run and I've realized that it was wrong for me to run away when we could have spoken about things," I said.
This was all part of my plans. To not get him to suspect him and so that way, I'd be able to keep in contact with my Sophia because she was going to text back and not it clicked to me.
I should have told her not to text me back on the same phone. My heart began to race faster than normal. If she does text back to his phone, he'd know what I have done and he would and he would make my life a living hell.
"What are you proposing Sarah?" He asked.
"I am not proposing anything. You hurt me again by bringing in that lady and fucking her. You lied about loving me, didn't you?" I asked with tears streaming down my cheek.
Mark might be an asshole but I'm sure my words could get through to him.
"Don't test my patience woman! You ruined me so stop with this pretense!" He snapped and attempted to walk away but I stopped him by wrapping my arms around him.
I do not mind sleeping with him to get to use his phone again and text my sister not to text him.
"I'm so sorry baby. I'm so sorry and I hope I can do something to change it. Please give me a chance," I pleaded.
He didn't move or do anything. He stood still for some second before taking my arms from around him.
"Stay away from me. You are nothing but someone who attracts bad luck and I refuse to be involved with you again," He said firmly.
I watched as he walked away from me. I needed to come up with a means to use his phone again.
