Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 83. WITH JESSICA

Chapter 83. WITH JESSICA

ADRIAN CASTILLO

I was barely listening to what Jessica was saying to me as I kept admiring the pictures Sophia has sent two minutes ago.

She hasn't failed to keep me updated since she left and it made me feel at ease.

"Adrian," I heard Jessica call my name and I lifted my face to look at her.

"What were you saying?" I asked putting my phone aside as I stopped listening to her some minutes ago.

"Wow. So you weren't listening? What were you looking at on your phone?" She asked me.

"Sophia sent some pictures so I stopped listening. What were you saying again?" I asked.

"You make me envious of you sometimes. I mean you and your wife can make someone depressed from the way you show your love to one another," she said and I smiled.

"I mean that's the beauty of love," I replied, feeling a great sense of warmth talking about love as the image of Sophia popped into my head.

"That's great. So I was asking when you will take me on a tour to see around. I can go alone and you know I don't like to be in the company of people I'm not familiar with," she said.

"Really? When did that start?" I asked, surprised a little and she scoffed.

"Seriously? I cannot believe you. How can you ask when that started when I have always been that way. How bad is your memory?" She scoffed.

Maybe she was like that but I do not recall much.

"Tour around? I'm not sure. I have work and then my schedule is tight and let's see. When I can I'd found," I told her.

"You are always busy? Really? More like you do not think I am worthy of your time," she snarked.

"That's not it and you know it," I told her.

"That's a lie. If you wanted to show me around, it's not as if it's going to take the whole week. It's just going to be a day and it's not going to be the whole day. Just some hours and that's it. It won't cost you billions of dollars you know?" She remarked.

I ran my finger through my hair. "That is true but as if it, I'm busy. My schedule won't allow me because I'm not only meeting with investors but we are currently working on a very important project and so I can barely spare anytime and if I was to have time, it would be at night, and night, I'd want to sleep," I explained to her but she doesn't look convinced.

"Hmmm," she sighed.

"So when will you have the time to show me around?" She asked.

"As for now, I do not know but I promise that when I can, I'd do that," I assured her.

"What are you doing tomorrow or rather where are you going to tomorrow?" She asked.

"I have an appointment with an appointment. That's the only one I remember, my secretary is yet to give me full details," I told her.

"I can tag along," she said with a smile on her face and I stared at her warily.

"Tag along?" I said rhetorically.

"It's just as I said. I mean I am also a shareholder in this company, thanks to my father and so I can follow you around, after all, I do not have anything to do and it's always boring sitting down in a place and doing nothing so I can follow you around tomorrow. That can serve as the tour," she suggested.

It wasn't a bad idea at all. I mean in that way, she'd be able to take a look around and also get familiar with things and places.

"That's not a bad idea," I told her.

"Yes. So that's settled. So I'd be going around with you for work and worry not. I will sit down away from you and give you time to speak," she said.

"Okay, that's great," I replied.

"I have been curious to know," She began after some seconds of silence.

"Curious to know about what?" I asked her.

"You are your wife," she said and I have not failed to notice that she refers to Sophia as my wife all of the time and she does not call her name.

"What about us?" I asked.

"Well, you said things started a little complicated and I'm curious what you meant by that. I mean for you to get married and I wasn't informed. I'd be lying if I said I am okay with the fact I wasn't invited. We were great friends before I left and we might have lost contact but that doesn't mean I never cared about you. I do send birthday wishes every year although you never replied to them," she reminded me.

I stopped celebrating my birthday after the death of my parents and that's why I do not talk about it or bring up topics about it. I doubted if Sophia knows my birthday because I never bring it up and many people know that I do not celebrate them but that does not mean I do not remember my date of birth.

Every year, on my birthday, I go to my parent's graves and chat with them. It gives me peace of mind. That was where I went when I left Sophia for some weeks after we had gotten married.

"It was an arranged marriage... At first," I informed her.

I wasn't ashamed to tell anyone that it started as an arranged marriage for Sophia and me because, in the end, we were able to create something beautiful from it.

"An arranged marriage? Why?" She asked.

"Her father's company was at the edge of bankruptcy and my grandfather said he'd only help if her father gave one of his daughters to me as a wife and that's it," I said, keeping the long story short.

"Wow. So it was a marriage of inconvenience? I'm quite surprised. I thought you guys were in love and happy and decided to get married," she said.

"We are in love. We weren't at first or rather I was fighting my demons at first but I always considered Sophia a very beautiful woman from the day I set my eyes on her," I confessed.

"What do you mean by that? Do you mean you liked her from the start or you did not?" She asked.

"I admired her and found her attractive but then again..." I trailed off chuckling when I thought she was just brought in to seduce me.

Thinking back to how I treated her and the shitty things I said to her just made me laugh at myself. I sounded immature.

"So what changed?" She asked.

"I don't know. A lot changed. I found myself getting more attracted to this girl and I decided to stop ignoring it and gave in," I answered.

"And that's it? Wow. I'm sure she must have been crushing on you for a long time and your reciprocating must have been a very big achievement to get," she said and for some reason, it doesn't sit well with me with the way she spoke.

"That's not it. Not at all. She didn't believe me. You don't know half of the story and I do not feel like telling more than I already have so can we end the topic already?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Sure. That's fine by me," she said, uncrossing her legs.
