Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 44. AN OLD COLLEAGUE

Chapter 44. AN OLD COLLEAGUE

ADRIAN CASTILLO

I could tell something was up with Sophia but I just couldn't tell what it was for the past two days now.

Whenever I talk to her, she gives me a short reply and doesn't want to stay close to me.

It has been bothering me. We were fine until that evening at the event. I have tried to think of wey possible things I might have done to have offended her but nothing came to my mind no matter how hard I tried.

It was driving me insane. No woman has had me this worked up.

"Sir."

I snapped out of my thought when my secretary Melinda called for my attention. I had completely zoned out as I recalled how Sophia had refused to look at me or even take the water I got for her when she choked on her food this morning.

What have I done to offend her? I can't remember saying any hurtful words to her or treating her bad so what have I done wrong?" I just couldn't tell.

I cleared my throat.

"What is it?" I asked her.

"The board wants to hear your opinion about the project idea by Mr. Sanchez," she whispered to me and I nodded my head.

I was following him until Sophia crossed my mind and then I lost focus and began to think of what I could have possibly done.

His ideas were good but I didn't listen to him completely so I do not know if it was worth it or not.

I looked at the board members present. "What are your opinions about his ideas?" I asked, wanting to hear from your aspect first before I conclude as I'm sure they all listened to him and they know what is also best for the company too.

"It's a very nice idea. I like his plans and how he has outlined them," Mr. Omari, the third-largest shareholder of the company said.

"I like it too. It's well detailed and seems to have a good end too," Mr. McCall said.

"Okay then," I leaned back on my chair.

"Can I see your project ideas?" I asked.

Mr. Paul nodded his head and came to me with his project ideas. I collected it from his hand and read through his ideas.

They seem nice and look promising too if carried out well.

"Fine then," I returned them to him.

Everyone seem to be waiting for me to make the final call as they all looked at me.

"I approve," I said and I felt the tension in the room reduce.

I got up from where I was seated and left the room and my secretary followed behind me hastily, trying to catch up with me as she told me of my next schedule.

"The car is prepared for your meeting with Mr. Alfred," she said to me.

"After that, you have a dinner meeting with Mrs. Parker, she said she wouldn't be able to see you at four so she asked if seven was okay and you confirmed that," she informed me and I halted on my track, suddenly regretting why I had not thought about it properly before agreeing.

All I had in my mind was to get Sophia to talk to me and tell me what I had done to her and make things right with her and not go on a business meeting with Mrs. Parker.

Fuck! I cursed mentally.

"Can you reschedule with Mrs. Parker?" I asked her.

"I'm afraid not. She is leaving for Switzerland tomorrow and she won't be back till next month which was why she also had to compromise to see you this evening," Melinda informed me and I sighed.

"Fine then," I muttered.

Melinda opened the door of the car for me and I got in.

"Remember to call me if the call is very important and if not, tell them to call back another time," I informed Melinda one last time before the car drove off.

I arrived at the designed location to meet Mr. Alfred. I do not know this man in person. I know his father though but Mr. Alfred I'm told at the meeting is the son of the man I know.

"I'm here for Mr. Alfred," I Informed the man at the counter and he pointed at a table for me.

The man I saw on the table being pointed at by the man at the counter was backing me and he seemed to be reading a magazine.

"Mr. Alfred?" I called in a questioning tone as soon as I reached the table.

The man turned his head to look at me and I gasped in surprise.

"Justin," I called him by his first name.

I didn't know he was Mr. Alfred they were referring to and who would have thought Mr. Alfred was his father.

Justin is a coursemate of mine in college. I never really had friends as I loved to be in my space and I do not trust anyone because of what had happened to my family while I was a teenager. It became hard for me to trust anyone.

"Adrian," Justin called, surprised laced on his tone and he got up from where he was seated to shake my hands.

"It's been a long time. You are Mr. Castillo? Oh my goodness. How can I forget that's your surname but then there are many other Castillo's in the world. Long time, no see. How have you been?" He asked me.

"I've been good and you?" I asked him as I take a seat opposite him.

"I have been fine. Wow. You have changed a lot. How long as it been since we saw each other? Five or six?" Justin said as he counted with his finger and I chuckled.

"I can't recall either," I told him and he chuckled.

"I wasn't expecting to meet you. This meeting wouldn't be bad as I thought. I thought I was meeting an old man, someone older than my father," he said and I laughed.
