Chapter 28. DISTRACTION
Chapter 28. DISTRACTION
ADRIAN CASTILLO
"Sir."
I snapped back to reality when I heard my secretary, Melinda calling my name. I had zoned out when the thought of Sophia at her parent's place occupied my mind.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"You seem to not have heard me so I will be starting over today," she told me.
"Yes, go ahead," I said to her.
"The Mancini group of companies..."
It's funny how Sophia has managed to occupy my thoughts every second without having to try. Not only do I feel the tension from this morning till now, but I have a boner.
I have been trying to control myself but it seems she has invaded all parts of my body and was having control. I have never thought this much about anyone before and it annoyed me.
Earlier this morning, I called Mathew to begin his investigation also do not forget to trail Sophia as she went to her parent's place.
For some reason, I was hoping my grandfather is right and that I was wrong. Sophia was winning as she was getting in my head.
I always knew women like her were problems. That innocent eyes of hers as been tormenting me. Whenever I look into those eyes, I have the dirtiest thoughts and all I want to do is kiss those lips of hers.
I have been tempted to do that lately even when I had made a promise that none of that would happen. I guess Sophia just has her way around men, just like the way she had that friend of hers at the restaurant the other day with my grandfather staring at her.
I watched as she walked out of the mansion and how her hips swayed left and right. My torture started this morning, when I had her trapped in my room, and then when I saw her hourglass shape swaying left and right, the man between my legs threatened to burst out of my pants.
Fuck you, Sophia! I cursed.
I do not know what it was I was feeling for her but at this point, I have decided to blame it on being celibate for a very long time.
"That's all for today," Melinda said and I realized that I had zoned out again and it's all thanks to Sophia.
"Thank you," I told Melinda even when I didn't hear any of the words she said to me.
"You can leave now," I told her.
She nodded her head before walking out.
I wondered what was going on now with Mathew and if he was doing just as I have instructed.
SOPHIA CASTILLO
"Are you serious mother?" I asked her, surprised by what she had just told me.
"Your cousin sister Evelyn is getting married next month and she wants you to come for it. She said she couldn't reach you and asked me to convey the message to you. She is so excited about it," my mother informed me.
"That's so nice," I smiled sincerely.
"It's been a long time since I last saw Evelyn. I cannot wait to see her and do you know whom she is getting married to?" I asked my mother.
I couldn't refrain from asking her.
"It's a man. Well, he is forty-two and a single dad. She wants to marry him and her parents aren't supportive about it but she is willing to push through and she needs your support and also Sarah but..." My mother trailed off heaving a sigh.
"I will go," I said before realizing that I couldn't go anywhere unless Adrian permitted me to.
Fuck! I cursed mentally.
How was I to get Adrian to let me go for my cousin's wedding a week before the wedding day without him suspecting me or accusing me of making a new move I know not of?
"What's with the sudden change of mood?" My mother asked, noticing how my expression went from happening to sad.
I feigned a smile. "It's nothing. I'm just so happy for her and I am worried about Sarah. It's just..." I trailed off as a memory of Sarah and I going to Evelyn's birthday party resurfaced in my head.
"I miss Sarah mom," a bead of tears rolled down my cheek.
"I miss her so much. It has always been me and her and now she's gone and it's not like she's dead and it's sad... It hurts me thinking about it. I'm used to her presence and always having to follow her lead but now it's just so foreign to me. I am unable to endure all of this and..." I cried out.
All my life, I always had someone to lead the way and for me to follow but now it's different. I respected Sarah now that I thought of the responsibility she must have carried as the first child.
Sarah has always been a good example to me. She excelled in school work and also with extra curriculum activities and I, followed her lead and excelled too.
I miss my sister. My mother moved closer to me and wrapped her arms around me.
"You will be fine. Trust me," she said to me and I nodded my head.
This was settled and I have managed to convince my mother but the main problem was convincing Adrian. How was I to get him to let me go to my cousin's wedding without him accusing me of cooking up something?
I wasn't going to miss Evelyn's wedding and I do not mind having to crawl on my feet or shamelessly begging him to let me go. Evelyn has been a nice and caring cousin to me.
We have a lot of memories as children and Adrian wouldn't let me disappoint her.
"So what are your plans for today? Do you want to cook together? Your father will be back soon, do you want to surprise him?" My mother asked and a smile formed on my face.
I nodded my head. "Sure."
