Angel’s POV

Our trip was very fruitful. It didn’t take as much time as we were expecting.

We all found our dresses in record time. And every single one of those dresses was extremely beautiful in its own way.

My wedding dress is so damn magical, I can’t wait for Lucas to see it on me on our wedding. They all praised me so much on my choice and I saw how amazed they looked when I tried it on at the store.

All the dresses were going to be delivered to us by tomorrow because we didn’t have room to take them with us. We were already crammed inside the SUV as it is, with the two men riding at the front, Diana and April taking the back seat, and me and Jenny occupying the seat behind them.

We were on our way back to Snow.

I messaged Lucas telling him that we were done with our shopping and headed home. He replied with an I miss you followed by a big red heart emoji.

The car ride back was quiet, everyone was gazing absently at the long stretch of road.

“Should we stop for them?” the driver, whose name is Josh asked Elliot; the one riding in the passenger seat, tightly.

I looked at the windshield and saw a silver small van parked at the side of the road with its hood lifted up and a middle aged guy waving at our approaching vehicle. It seemed he was having car trouble and needed some assistance.

“No, keep driving, we can send someone for him” said Elliot dismissively.

Except Josh couldn’t keep driving because the man stopped in the middle of the road.

He hit the brakes slowly and stopped a few feet before the guy.

He was ragged looking with a scrawny built, a buzz cut black hair and a stubble black beard.

Josh and Elliot both pulled out their guns from their waists and cocked them, going into defensive mood right away.

My heart started accelerating at the slight overreaction from them.

“Don’t scare the man, just tell him you’re going to send help for him” Diana told them gently.

They lowered their guns and kept them at their sides, hiding them from the man who was approaching the driver’s window.

Josh lowered his window down as the guy spoke firmly “Thank god, I’ve been stuck here for the past forty five minutes waiting for a car to pass. Can you help me? I think my battery died or something”

“There is a town about half an hour from here, we’ll call their auto shop and they will send you a tow truck to take care of the problem. Just sit tight” Josh told him strictly.

The guy tilted his head slightly then said in a bored tone “Nah, I’m kinda tired of sitting tight out here, freezing my balls off and waiting for you guys to show up”

I furrowed my eyebrows trying to comprehend what he was saying.

Chaos erupted in the blink of an eye, exactly. I blinked once, and all hell broke loose.

The man pulled out his hidden gun from the back of his jeans in a blinding speed and shot Josh straight in the head before he had time to react.

We all screamed out in terror, except for Elliot who raised his gun and was about to shoot the man. But the man was a lot faster as he emptied his gun in Elliot’s chest.

As soon as the first shot went off, four men suddenly came out of the van’s back side and surrounded our car from both sides, holding long rifles tightly in their hands.

“Oh my god!” Diana said shakily.

Jenny and I both snapped out of our terror filled haze and reached for our purses to grab our phones.

The man who shot our men and another one from the other side of our car, opened the car doors from both sides where Diana and April were sitting, looking stoic and pointing their guns at them.

Diana and April clutched each other’s hands in fright and scooted to the middle, as far away as they can get from the two men.

My hands were shaking badly as I clutched my phone and was about to unlock it, when the killer climbed in next to Diana and pointed his gun right at my chest as he said darkly “Make another move and I drop both of you girls like I’m dropping a filthy fly, am I clear enough?”

My hands froze, I mean they were still shaking terribly, but my fingers stopped right before I was about to press Lucas’s name on the screen. I sneaked a look at Jenny’s phone and saw her phone still locked, she was frozen too with the same shaky hands I had.

“Hand them over, now” the killer barked at us, extending his open palm in our direction.

I jumped in my place at his high raised voice and automatically complied.

While Jenny kept a firm hold on hers, looking at the killer with a cold, dark look.

“I won’t repeat myself little girl, I might have my orders not to kill you, but ain’t nothing stopping me from shooting you in the damn leg. Hand it over!” he yelled at her.

She gulped tightly and dropped the phone on top of mine into his hand.

He threw the phones to the man on the other side and pointed his gun at Diana.

“You too, ladies. Hand me your phones now” he ordered coldly.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Jenny moving her hand very discreetly into her still open purse that was sitting in her lap.

Did she have a back up phone she was trying to reach for?

I don’t see her having time enough to dig out the phone, unlock it, and dial Alex’s number before she’s exposed and shot for trying to pass one by them. Not on her own.

I leaned forward, partially obscuring and covering whatever she was trying to do with my body from the killer’s eyes.

“Look, we’re going to do whatever you want, ok? You don’t have to point your guns at us. Just take it easy” I said shakily.

“Shut up and sit back. Phones. Now” he glared at me before he screamed at Diana and April who jolted out of their frozen positions and started rummaging through their purses for their phones.

Diana and April handed their phones to the other guy who took them and addressed the killer firmly “The van arrived, let’s move them before anyone passes through here”

As soon as he was done talking, another silver van with black tinted windows parked right next to our car.

I didn’t dare to risk taking a look to see if Jenny managed to do whatever she had in her mind for fear of exposing her, so I tried to buy her as much time as I can.

With my body still leaning forward I tried again “Whatever you want you’ll get. Just tell us what you want and no one else has to get hurt”

He pointed his gun at me again and threatened “One more word, and you will catch a bullet in a very vital organ, shut your fucking mouth and sit back”

I didn’t dare speak again but stayed in my position.

He narrowed his eyes at me in suspicion and I returned his look with a fake confusion of my own.

His eyes drifted towards Jenny and my heart skipped a beat.

In a swift motion that sent my heart up my throat, he gripped my hair from the back, and yanked it backward as he pushed me back into my seat with the gun pointed at my chest while taking a look at what I was trying to hide from him, at Jenny.

“What the hell?” the killer said in confusion.

I turned my head to see what he was talking about and saw something that made my breath catch.
