Angelina’s POV
He fucking lied to me!
He hid the truth from me even after he said that he trusted me.
Not just him, but all of them did, even Diana.
Now April’s slip up two days ago made total sense. She was talking about them in the present tense and I felt sorry for her because she hasn’t accepted the fact that they were dead yet. But they were alive all along.
The door suddenly opened revealing the person I thought I could start trusting. The only man I gave my trust to and let him in; even if it was for a little bit. I gave him a fucking piece of me, I gave him my first kiss, I let him hug me, hold me, and embrace me to sleep. I thought he was going to be the one to change my mind about letting a man into my life, into my heart.
What the hell was all of that talk about him being sincere with me, not playing with me or having fun at my expense?
Just another lie?
Another fucking mind game?
God! How could I be so stupid?
I hated myself even more than I hated him right now.
“Angel…” he started by saying that fucking nickname and I went off.
“You heartless bastard! They're alive!” I yelled at him in complete heartbreak.
“I can explain, I swear” he pleaded in agony.
Well, agony my ass. I’m never going to believe my eyes nor my heart again. I’ve had enough of their misinterpretations.
“Explain? What is there left to fucking explain? They didn’t die! End of explanation!” I whispered in a thick voice filled with my painful lump that was lodged in my throat and wouldn’t go down no matter how much I tried.
I turned around in the direction of my room because I could no longer be able to keep looking at him.
“Wait, Angel!” he shouted loudly trying to stop me and even dared to touch my elbow firmly.
I whirled back around to face him, snatching my arm from his grasp and shrieking at him with so much anger “Don’t you EVER call me Angel again Lucas! Or I will make sure you fucking regret it!”
He stared at me with a hurt look on his face that if it was actually genuine, would have satisfied me to the core, to see him hurt just a fraction of how much he just filled me to the brim with agonizing pain.
Before I could turn back towards my room, several doors opened at once.
We were so engrossed in our own world, we didn’t realize that our screaming was definitely bound to wake everyone up.
“Angelina? What’s wrong?” Diana approached us alarmingly, her worried tone caused a slash of pain to go through me.
I turned towards her and couldn’t keep the edge off my voice as I said emotionally to her while my tears kept falling down my cheeks “Alex and Jenny are alive. I just found out. I’m really glad you didn’t lose them for real, Diana. I’m happy you’ll get to see them tomorrow and reunite again after all that time”
I didn’t let her speak as I turned my face back towards Lucas and addressed him flatly “After you get rid of Zade tomorrow, you’ll hand me my real ID and let me go my own way. You won’t have any need for me after you kill him”
I watched as his eyes widened and his lips parted in shock and disbelief.
I chastised myself angrily. Why the hell am I looking down at his lips again? After everything I just found out, I should fucking knee him in the balls instead of ogling his lips.
I was about to give him my back and go hide in my room until the meeting time, when Diana’s desperate voice stopped me against my will.
“Angelina, wait!”
I stared at her and saw so much pain in there. Almost equal to the unbearable pain I was feeling right now.
“For what Diana? For you to explain why you hid the truth from me? There’s no need for that, I know why you did it. I’m his daughter after all, how can you ever trust me with your children’s lives on the line? I’ve lied so many times to you already, hid the truth too, and I was the main cause for everything that happened. I get it. But Diana, if you didn’t trust me from the beginning, you shouldn’t have tried to make me feel like you did. Because that hurt a lot more had you been honest with me and treated me like someone you don’t trust one hundred percent to share this secret with” I said bitterly.
Her tears fell down and I felt so guilty for making her cry. Despite her hurtful act of hiding this from me along with everyone else, I still carry so much love and respect for her.
I really thought she saw me as part of her family. I thought she; of all people, saw me for who I really am. But she didn’t. And that disappointment made me break a little bit more than I already was from the moment I stepped foot into this house.
“Don’t blame her. She wanted to tell you and fought me and Alex for it, but we told her not to. I asked everyone to keep this from you. If you want someone to blame, it’s me” said Lucas tightly.
My eyes drift back to him as I said in a detached tone while shaking my head “I don’t blame anyone. It doesn’t matter anymore”
“Just listen to me for a bit, will you?” he pleaded.
“No, I’ve heard enough from you already! I don’t want to hear anything else, especially from you!” I snapped at him with fire in my veins that he could probably feel because his expression wavered for bit and a look of utter guilt claimed his eyes.
I turned my gaze towards David; whose room was right next to Lucas’s, and saw sadness in them as he avoided looking directly at me. Instead his eyes looked behind me and I knew he was looking at April.
I couldn’t even bear to look at her, at any of them as a matter of fact.
I hurried back to my room and closed the door behind me, ignoring Lucas’s voice calling me desperately “Angelina!”
I put my hand on my mouth to stifle my sob from ripping through me and letting them hear me through the door, as I sat down on the ground against it, folding my knees up to my chest.
Stupid door with no fucking lock!
I just wanted to hide inside without being bothered until the meeting time in the morning, but the stupid door had no lock. That’s why I sat there and planned to stay right there, not letting anyone in and not planning to listen to anything else.
I was the only fool here thinking I ever had a place among them. Even if Lucas was really toying with my feelings, I shouldn’t have been naive enough to fall for it like an idiot. I blame the lack of experience with men for that grave, unrepeatable mistake.
As for my extremely broken heart, unpredictable future, and lack of destination nor safety, well, I don’t think there’s fixing any of that after now.
I can lay down and die right here and I wouldn’t fucking care!
