Jenny’s POV
This man is so perfect.
I can’t believe this man is mine.
I still can’t believe how amazing, caring, passionate, and loving he is.
How happy he makes me everyday.
A while ago, I blamed him for taking my dreams away, for plunging me down in the darkness, and I loathed him so much for it.
Ever since I started seeing his true personality, his true character, ever since we both decided to give each other a chance and showed love to each other, I had all my dreams back, and all my darkness turned into bright exploding lights of colorful fireworks.
There is not a day where I don’t miss his scent, his voice, his presence, even if he was sitting right next to me, I miss him. I always yearn for his touch, his kisses, his love making and his intense claim over my body.
Every day my love for him increases and blossoms and I don’t think it will ever reach a point where it will stop growing.
We had just finished speaking a video call with my mom.
Mom was so thrilled that I was happy now. She was extremely worried about me being left behind. She knew deep inside that I could never manage to escape from Snow like I promised her.
She only agreed to leave me because she knows she was my weakness and she didn’t want me to be forced into anything again through her.
When I told her that Alex and I were together now, that we were happy, she was ecstatic she even cried so hard.
We would check on each other everyday and she would notice how bright my eyes were, how pink my cheeks were, how much my smile does not leave my face, and she became so happy for us both.
She loved Alex a lot. And who wouldn’t?
The man who used to glare icily at me, who would threaten me and order me around, who would cause frantic fear to erupt throughout my entire body, that man was not him. It was all an act that I understood from his point of view. He thought I wanted revenge for my father, he thought I hated them all immensely for what they did to him. He was forced to act this way.
And I wasn’t any better too. I mean I wasn’t actively plotting against them like he expected of me, but I wasn’t also very easy to deal with.
A knock on our door cuts my train of thoughts.
“Alex! Jenny! Lucas and David are back!” came April’s excited voice from the other side of the door.
I was caught by surprise because I thought they were taking another week to come back.
I looked at Alex and didn’t see the same surprise on his face.
“You knew?” I asked skeptically.
A small smile tugged at his lips as he said “Yes, they wanted to surprise you all”
“Hmmm, any other surprises I should know about?” I asked, giving him a knowing look that said I was on to him.
When I was in fact not on to anything. I was just messing with him.
He narrowed his eyes at me and gulped visibly as he asked rigidly “What do you mean?”
Ok…. I guess I really was on to something here.
“I mean you should come clean right now” I said broadly, still trying to seem like I know what the hell I was referring to.
“I have a surprise for you” said Alex mysteriously
“Surprise me” I said with a small smile as my heart throbbed at the mention of a surprise…. For me.
“I will give it to you after lunch, in front of everyone” he said softly.
“I can wait till after lunch, right after it though, don’t delay it further or I might go crazy” I warned.
He furrowed his eyebrows at me and said “Why do I get the sense that I just got played into believing you knew something when you really didn’t?”
I giggled hysterically and he understood everything instantly.
“Jenny Snow, you’re one sneaky little mouse” he said with humor as he tickled me mercilessly while I yelped and shouted loudly, trying to get away from him as my laughter intensified.
A loud knock came from our room door as Lucas complained behind it “You have five seconds to come out and hug me, or I will burst through the door regardless of how naked you both are. Don’t say I never warned you”
Alex groaned loudly at Lucas’s lack of manners.
He let go of me and I was thankful for Lucas’s rude interference, for the first time ever.
We got out and greeted him and David joyfully.
It was lunch time, so we all gathered around the dining table, listening to David whine about Lucas’s impatience and weird behavior throughout their trip.
Lucas didn’t let him off the hook either as he too had a lot of complaints about his partner as well.
We ended up laughing and giggling at both of them as they bickered back and forth.
“Ok, enough you two. I have a surprise for Jenny and I need you to keep quiet now” said Alex seriously.
Lucas rolled his eyes but kept silent.
Alex withdrew a letter from his side jacket pocket and handed it to me.
For some reason, my heart increased its speed as I took it from him.
With a lot of anticipation and no clue of what this letter held inside it, I started opening it.
“Can you read it loudly please?” Alex requested gently.
I nodded my head and started reading out loud.
“To Ms. Jennifer Snow. Congratulations, We are delighted to inform you that you have been accepted into our online Exercise Science program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks”
I stared momentarily at the words I just uttered and it took me a few seconds to fully understand the meaning of this.
I looked up in astonishment at Alex and saw a contagious glint of excitement and happiness as he stared at me.
My tears sprang into my eyes and without a moment’s thought, I lunged into him as I engulfed him in a fierce hug which he returned just as fiercely.
“Congratulations baby” he whispered into my ear softly.
I broke the hug and gazed lovingly at him.
He just gave me the best surprise in the world.
He gave me my dream profession.
“Alex….thank you very much. This means a lot to me” I said emotionally.
He wiped my tears away as he cupped my face tenderly.
“I know how much it means to you Jenny. You mean the world to me and I will stop at nothing to give you everything you desire. If you can’t go to university, I’ll bring the university to you. It might not be what you wanted exactly but… ” he said gently.
I cut him off as I said passionately “It’s exactly what I wanted Alex. Even if it is safe to live on campus and be a regular student there I wouldn’t want that. I can’t stay away from Snow anymore, I can’t stay away from my family, from you”
I grinned at him excitedly and shyly kissed him on the cheek fervently.
“Congrats Jenny. We are all very happy for you dear” said Diana excitedly.
“Thank you Diana”
Everyone congratulated me and I could sense how really happy they were for me. It brought a lot of emotions to swell inside me at the sight of their heart felt joyfulness they genuinely expressed on my behalf.
We moved to the living room after that as we sat together gossiping, drinking tea, and eating the chocolate cake I have made earlier this morning.
Alex, Lucas, and David wanted to hang out in town after that and they left the house.
I had Megan coming over in ten minutes as she was coming to say goodbye to me because she was leaving for Fairbanks to get herself settled into her dorm room in campus.
I couldn’t wait to share my own great news with her.
She will be so thrilled for me.
I had stepped into my room to use the bathroom real quick, and when I came out of the bathroom, my phone was ringing, showing me Megan’s name on display.
I was confused by her call as she usually just rings the door bell right away without calling me beforehand.
I thought she wanted to tell me she was running late or something as I picked up.
“Megan, hey! don’t tell me you’re canceling on me”
“Jenny…. It’s been a while since I heard your voice. What’s up cousin?”
A bucket of ice washed all over me as I recognized Simon’s deep voice through Megan’s phone, and my heart skipped a beat.
Utter shock had me double checking the name displayed on my phone again, and dread followed right after when I confirmed it was indeed Megan’s number I was talking to.
I gulped and said in a scratchy tone “Simon…..why are you speaking to me through Megan’s phone? Where is she?”
“Right here cousin, don’t you worry. She’s still in one piece. But her condition might change drastically if you don’t do exactly as I say” he said to me delightfully.
