Chapter 55
Chapter 55
A day has passed since I met with Tristan and his army of wolves ready to take down Viren. I had been shocked to learn that the thirty wolves he had in the hide out, a shack deep in the woods that would be hard to find, were just the bare minimum he could take on the “hunting trip”; the excuse that Tristan used to deceive Viren. It turns out that out of the five hundred wolves in Onix Moon, about two hundred were ready to get rid of their Alpha. The two of us with Aunt Asteria’s help formed a plan where Crescent Phoenix would surround the decoy tourist town and slowly take out the Onix Moon wolves stationed there while Tristan and his army will attack the main pack. Many of their people are hidden within the pack as we speak now, relaying information of Viren’s movements.
Today, Viren brough Brynlee from his bedroom and a panicking Omega linked Tristan explaining he thinks the Alpha found his Luna. After opening his link to allow the others in on the plan, Tristan told me he explained the situation that Brynlee was being held captive and that Crescent Phoenix will be helping in her rescue. Not a single one of the thirty wolves with Tristan told the other about me. As far a everyone waiting for us in Onix Moon is concerned, I do not exist.
“You ready to go?” Tristan asks as we finish packing our gear.
“I am. Brynlee needs me.” I answer. We gather round the shack, everyone looking grim but ready to go. Tristan reminds them all that today is the beginning of change. That when they return back to Onix Moon, a battle will ensue and many may loose their life in freeing their pack from tyranny. No one makes a sound, already having accepting this fact, and within minutes we are on our way towards Onix Moon. Ten minutes into the trek my phone rings, the device vibrating in my pocket. Taking it out, I notice my Aunt’s pseudonym and slow to a stop. Tristan looks at me, silently commanding his men to wait before I answer, wondering why my Aunt would be calling me so suddenly.
“Rose what is it?” I ask, getting a confused look from Tristan. I just mouth “later” as I do not want anyone else listening on our conversation.
“I got in contact with Lilac through our familial bond link.” She answers right away, her voice filled with relief.
“It looks like I am the only one who can reach her though as Gale and the pups tried. Even Quincy tried and couldn’t reach her.” My Aunt’s voice floats in the air and a look of realization flickers across Tristan’ face. He points to the screen, at the name Rose, and mouths “Alpha Asteria” to which I nod yes before returning my attention to the call.
“I am going to text you the details Lilac sent me but Rune, its bad. He has her guarded day and night unable to escape and there is wolfbane in her system.” Tristan takes the phone from my hand just in time as anger rises inside me and I turn to punch the tree behind us. Tristan’s wolves look at me with surprise and Tristan reassures them that everything is fine before he tells them to secure the perimeter. They hesitate before complying to his orders and Tristan looks at me. My fist is imbedded in the tree trunk, the punch causing a hole in the poor thing.
“You need to keep your cool if you want to save … Lilac…” He states, hesitating at the name my Aunt used.
“I know. But he has her and I feel helpless.” I growl out, rage coursing through me.
“We know that but if you want Lilac back, you need to keep your emotions in check.” I hear my Aunt state through the phone. I suppress another growl as I know these two are right. I need to save Brynlee before Viren can force her into becoming his.
“Anyways, I am sending you the information now. My wolves and I are heading to the decoy town Onix Moon has and will be there hopefully by morning. We already have the necessary items needed to make it look like the town is quarantined while you two do your jobs.”
“Thank you Rose. I hope that when everything is done we can form an alliance.” Tristan states with gratitude in his voice. My Aunt makes a noncommittal sound before the line goes dead. Tristan hands me back my phone as we wait for the information to be sent through which does not take long. A text pops up under “Rose” and I open it immediately. Holding the phone between Tristan and me, the two of us read the contents of the information she received from Brynlee and I growl again. It seems he is keeping her under lock and key before he rapes her into being his.
“I never knew he had a hidden room.” Tristan states with a frown. He calls back his wolves, explaining that we need to make to Onix Moon faster than they had originally planned while I pocket my phone. I wonder if Brynlee is scared but then chuckle. Brynlee is probably more pissed off by the situation than anyone else. I have a feeling that if she did not have wolfsbane in her, she would be tearing Alpha Viren apart and destroying anyone who joined in on harming the she-wolves there.
I know my Aunt stated in the text that Brynlee knows I am coming to rescue her and part of me hopes she is happy knowing this. I have a lot to make up to her and rescuing her will be a start to a long road of begging for her forgiveness. Maybe, just maybe, she and I can start again and I can show her how much I truly love her.
My steps faulter as the thought crosses my mind. I love Brynlee.
A smile spreads across my face and with renewed vigor, I vow that once Brynlee and I are back in Crescent Phoenix, I will show her my love and sincerity if it is the last thing I do.
