Triumph Of My Cheating Husband

Chapter 41

Chapter 41

Chapter 41 "Listen here, woman..."Ryan called out in a loud voice. "I'm sick and tired of your never-ending drama and can't keep up with your attitude anymore. I'm desperately in need of a break from you."n/n/"I see you really do need a break, Ryan." She blurted out in a grouchy tone, irritated by his choice of response. "This must have been the reason you've been frantically searching for Ciara since all these while, is it not?"

Ryan thought he heard her wrong, did those wordsjust come out ofAnne? He doubts it. If she really did say the words, how was she able to find out about it? He had told no one about this except his mother.

The more he thought about it, there is no way his mother would have ranted him out to Anne -even if she tells on him, definitely not to Anne of all people.

'How then did she find out?' He pondered, unable to get any tangible reply to his curiosity. For Anne to find out about what was supposed to be between himself and his mother, then there are lots of things he thought he's hiding away from her that she already learned about it all and putting on a pretense.

In as much as Ryan was taken aback by what he had just learned from Anne, he was able to conceal how shocked and surprised he was, putting on a blank expression on his face.

"So...?" He lilted gravellywith an unreadable countenance.

Anne was confused, this wasn't the reaction she was expecting from him. She had expected him to be shocked at how she found out about it -it was supposed to be his little secret, isn't it?

"Aren't you surprised that I found out about this, at least?" She asked, her voice slowly loosing its firmness. "Aren't you supposed to be curious about how I find out?"

"Ah -yeah, true!" He mouthed in mockery, sounding uninterested -though he was as curious as a cat to know how she managed to learned of it. "I guess it skipped my mind; how did you find out about this?"

Anne did not miss the mockery in his voice, but she cared less about whatever reaction he decided to give, not when she had a bigger shock and surprise for him; she doubts if he would be able to conceal his expression after learning of it.

"Spare me those trash, Ryan..."She uttered with a low hiss under her breath. "Where is what I asked from you earlier, are you still giving it or not?"

Ryan eyed her maliciously. "Why should I give what I don't have?" He solicited, snapping at her. "I already told you, I don't have such a huge amount to give -and if I do have such, I should know what beneficiary things to use it on." "I see..."She mouthed, rolling her eyes. "Since you are tired of this Union, why don't you settle for the second option then? At least, that way, you can get enough break from me as desired."

Ryan creased his brows, confused about what she meant by her words. "What was that supposed to mean?" He requested with an obfuscated expression on him. "What second option are you talking about?"

Anne's lips curled up into a dirty smirk, her arms folded dramatically against her chest. "Divorce, Ryan..."She uttered airily, drawling her words.

Ryan stared at her, his eyes widened in disbelief. "Did you listen to yourself at all, woman?" He rhetorically asked her, glaring hard at her.

"Drop your act of pretense, you and I both know that this is what you want, dear Ryan." She doped out vociferously. "Stop acting like you did not try making an attempt on this before now."

How Anne was able to find out about of all these was still a mystery to him. First, she knew he's been on the lookout for Ciara and now, she managed to find out he was to issue a divorce to her some time ago?

At that moment, Ryan was sure there's little or nothing left that she is yet to know about. He should have known better, but he let his emotion take the best of him -Anne wasn't the type to play smart with or hide things from, she has always been a step ahead in everything.

If not Anne, Ryan doubted if he'll ever be able to outsmart his mother and stand up against her then; what was the use of it when he was starting to regret all of his past actions afterward?

"You see, Anne, in as much I'm tempted by the idea of it, you know better that I can't do it. I can't divorce you..."He told her in a hushed tone. "That's far from the option at hand, it is a bad and not a second option."

"Because you are afraid of ruining your reputation with it if the news of your divorce should leak out, isn't it?" She muttered rhetorically with a sly smile on her face.

"I see, even after knowing this, you are still bent on ruining me." Ryan cried out, still finding it hard to process all of Anne's words. "Why can't you just focus on being the good partner you always are, we are married for Pete's sake!"

"No, we are not..."She blurted out, hissing in nothing but disgust. "We were never a married couple from the start, this was just another illusion of yours -a mirage!"

"What did you mean?"

"The court marriage, the registrar, and the marriage certificate, as you should have known were merely an act -it was a fake court marriage." She sprouted out, her words hitting Ryan hard in his guts.

"W-what are..."Ryan's words got choked in his throat, unable to utter anything -the look on his face was enough to express how he felt at the moment.

"I was only able to stay with you this long for a reason, Ryan." She stated in strident. "But now, I can see there is nothing left for me in your place anymore; so, I have to leave." "Anne, you..."He trailed off, unsure of what to say or how best to react.

Anne did not to wait to hear another word from him as she raced out of his sight, heading towards the stairs. Soon, after a couple of minutes, she descended from the stairs with her baggage with her.

She walked briskly towards Ryan and stopped before him. "I have to go now, dear Ryan." She told him, feigning a sad smile. "I hope you find a way to sort your collapsing business out and also a way to save your reputation."

Ryan could only shake his head negatively, he did not want to believe whatever thing he was hearing and hoped it was all a prank.

Anne placed her left palm on his cheek, still smiling sadly at him. "I wish I was able to fall for this innocent face, and your mother was never an obstruction from the start." She said, slowly. "-but it's all over now, I can only hope you find Ciara someday and be together."

With that, she left him without sparing him another glance or waiting for his reply as she effortlessly drags the baggage behind her...
