Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Camilla's eyes fixed on her reflection in the dressing mirror, carefully studying the green moss diamond dress that Lauren had sent her for Maria Clint's birthday party in Paris.

The dress sparkled under the light, adding a touch of elegance to the occasion.

Her fingers traced the intricate diamond patterns as a smile formed on her lips, "It's perfect... let the girls know they did an amazing job." Camilla spoke to Lauren through the video call, glancing at her phone perched securely on the mirror's corner ledge.

Lauren's face lit up on the other end of the call, "I'm so glad you're happy with it... I'll be sure to pass on your praise, ma'am."

"They put in a lot of effort to ensure the dress was just right for the occasion, and I'm sure they'll be thrilled to hear your appreciation."

A soft smile curved Camilla's lips as she adjusted the necklace around her throat, the centerpiece a captivating solitaire diamond set in elegant white gold, surrounded by smaller stones.

"I'm truly impressed. They've really outdone themselves... do you think they're ready for a promotion?" she asked playfully, raising an eyebrow.

Lauren chuckled warmly, her eyes twinkling. "Well, their talent and dedication are undeniable. I think a promotion might be well-deserved."

Camilla nodded decisively, "Then a promotion it is."

The room fell into a brief silence as she admired the necklace's sparkle, until Lauren's voice broke it, tinged with hesitance, "Ma'am, are you sure you want to go... I mean, it's your first public appearance since your... well..."

"Divorce?" Camilla finished the sentence, her voice soft as she sighed. "Don't worry about me, Lauren. I'll be just fine," she reassured. Her gaze dipped momentarily before meeting Lauren's concerned eyes.

"It's been a tough time, but I won't let something as trivial as that define me."

"This party is a chance for me to show both the world and myself that I'm strong and ready for a fresh start," Camilla added, her tone resolute but also acknowledging the skepticism in Lauren's eyes.

"And what about Edward Caruso?" Lauren asked, her curiosity evident.

Camilla arched an eyebrow, intrigued. "What about him?"

"Aren't you two together?" Lauren inquired, and Camilla chuckled, adjusting her hair with a flip.

"You have quite an imagination. We haven't spoken or seen each other in two weeks since his song's release... not that I'm bothered by it," she clarified, surprising Lauren.

"And that kiss?" Lauren pressed on, prompting Camilla to nod.

"Pure acting, nothing more. We're not an item," Camilla clarified, causing Lauren to audibly exhale in relief.

"And what's with that reaction?" Camilla questioned, eyeing Lauren with a raised brow.

Lauren shrugged sheepishly, "Just relieved to know it was all for the video."

Camilla's gaze shifted from phone to the dressing mirror for a final self-assessment.

"If you say so... I should head out now; my ride will be here in a couple of minutes." She picked up her phone from its perch on the mirror's ledge, preparing to leave.

"Absolutely, ma'am. I'll ensure everything is in order here. Enjoy the party, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out. Take care!" Lauren bid her farewell with a smile.

With a warm smile, Camilla bid farewell to Lauren and ended the video call.

Taking a deep breath, a blend of excitement and nervousness welled up within her.

This party wasn't merely about celebrating Maria Clint's birthday; it was a chance for Camilla to prove to the world that she wouldn't be defined by a single heartbreak.

In the preceding weeks, she had devoted herself to self-discovery, rekindling her passions and embracing her inner strength.

The upcoming event would serve as a testament to her unwavering resilience.

A few hours later, a sleek black Lamborghini Urus S pulled up at the event venue.

The car door swung open, revealing a man in a black tuxedo who stepped out and graciously opened the car door for Camilla.

A radiant smile lit up Camilla's face as she descended from the car.

Flashes from cameras all around caught her every step as she walked the red carpet, pausing at the center to pose for eager photographers.

The cameras' flashes illuminated the green moss diamond dress, accentuating its brilliance as she struck graceful poses, radiating confidence and elegance.

Upon entering the venue, the celebration was in full swing.

The room was adorned with stunning floral arrangements and exquisite chandeliers, creating the perfect atmosphere.

A soft live band played in the background, and the melodic strains of a string quartet filled the air.

People swayed to the music, engaged in conversations, sipped champagne, and enjoyed appetizers passed around by attentive waiters.

Approaching her, a waiter held a tray of champagne flutes. "Excuse me, ma'am, may I offer you your first glass of champagne for the evening?" he politely inquired, extending the tray.

With a gracious smile, Camilla nodded, "Of course," and accepted the proffered glass.

"Thank you," she expressed as the waiter bowed and continued his rounds.

Camilla swirled the champagne around in her glass, before taking a sip, relishing the cool, velvety liquid on her palate.

Just then, her attention was diverted by an excited voice calling her name.

"Camilla!" the enthusiastic female voice exclaimed.

And she turned to find Taylor Jones herself, resplendent in a royal blue satin gown, shimmering like a star in the warm light.

"Taylor! Oh my goodness!" Camilla's delight was evident as she held her champagne glass and hastened over to embrace her dear friend.

Taylor's warm smile mirrored Camilla's as they separated from their embrace.

"Oh, I've missed you so much, darling!" Taylor's genuine excitement was palpable in her voice.

"How have you been?" Taylor inquired, taking a step back to admire Camilla's appearance.

"I'm good, thank you," Camilla replied with a sincere smile, met with an equally radiant smile from Taylor.

"You look absolutely stunning tonight, Camilla. Your dress is just... perfect, as always," Taylor complimented, her eyes gleaming with admiration.

"Thank you, Taylor. Your royal blue gown is equally stunning, and you truly look regal," Camilla graciously responded. "By the way, where's John? Isn't he here with you?"

Taylor's smile gradually faded into a more somber expression.

"No... um... we broke up not long after you and Alexander..." She trailed off, choosing not to elaborate further.

Camilla's tone turned a bit more intense and assertive, "Oh... what happened? I swear, I told him if he ever hurt you..."

Taylor interrupted gently, "No, I...I was the one who ended things. I realized I wasn't over Ben as I thought." Her admission left Camilla slightly taken aback.

"What?" She expressed her surprise, prompting a sigh from Taylor.

"I know... it's just that the heart has its own desires. It wouldn't have been fair to John to continue the relationship knowing how I truly felt," Taylor explained, and Camilla responded with a subtle, understanding smile.

"Well, what matters most is your happiness," Camilla assured her, to which Taylor nodded.

"It hasn't been easy, but Ben and I are taking things slowly and keeping the media at bay this time around," Taylor shared. Camilla nodded in agreement, "That's a wise choice."

Taylor locked eyes with Camilla for a moment before she spoke again, a playful tone in her voice.

"And you? You've been driving the media wild with that stunt you pulled with Edward Caruso."

"I didn't even know who he was until that music video with you in it."

"Pardon me, but I just have to ask if you two are really a thing because that kiss was out of this world." She chuckled.

Camilla was about to respond when Alexander suddenly appeared by their side, breaking the conversation.

"Taylor!" He greeted with enthusiasm.

"Congratulations on the release of your new movie... SkyDivers, right?" He was dressed impeccably in a navy blue suit, radiating sophistication.

Taylor, taken aback by his sudden appearance, seemed a bit flustered but managed to reply, "Um, hi...yeah... thanks." She glanced at Camilla, her confusion evident.

"I didn't know you were here," she added, glancing between Alexander and Camilla, who had a frown on her face.

"I have a bit of a close relationship with the birthday girl. She couldn't help but invite me," Alexander explained with a grin.

An awkward silence settled, and he finally spoke again, "Well, I hope you don't mind if I borrow Camilla for a few minutes."

Before either women could respond, he simply nodded and took Camilla's hand, leading her away from a stunned Taylor.

As they walked away, Taylor watched them, her expression a mix of surprise and curiosity.

Camilla, not wanting to cause a scene, allowed Alexander to guide her through the crowd and into a quieter space, the event's restroom.

And upon reaching there she wasted no time in expressing her confusion and frustration. "What the hell was that?" She yanked her hand out of his grasp, expecting an explanation.

However, Alexander's response caught her off guard.

He swiftly pushed her against the wall, leaning in closely and pressing his lips to hers in a surprising and passionate kiss.
