Amy eventually decided to walk to the backyard to check on him, on getting there, she sighted a familiar female figure standing beside a male figure that was laying on a sofa.
She walked quickly towards them and immediately identified them. Martha was stunned to see Amy, she didn't expect for her to be here.
Amy ignored Martha and squatted quickly beside Broderick, she examined him and noticed that he wasn't fully conscious.
"Broderick! Broderick!" She called repeatedly but he only grunted. His response was not firm. Thinking that Martha may be angry because Broderick had forced her to sign the divorce papers, she stood from beisde Broderick and asked Martha with a stern look," what did you do to him?"
Martha scoffed and checked her wrist watch," in few minutes time and your man will be carried away."
She continued, "I'm sure you are the one that got into his head to divorce me, right? Well, Broderick didn't love me, yes but I love him. Thing is, you are not a worthy competitor to me, I'll win Broderick over to myself again and again."
"What the fuck did you do to him?" Amy shouted. She was more concerned about why Broderick was laying unconscious.
"Are you blind now? Can't you see the bottle of drink on the floor? He obviously got drunk and called me," Martha said.
Amy wondered why Broderick called Martha and at the same time call her too.
When Amy set his gaze on Broderick and examined him again, she assumed that he may be truly drunk.
"What then did you mean by he will be carried away in few minutes time?" Amy just had time to process what Martha said a few minutes ago.
Before Martha could respond, heavy steps of crowds could be heard around the house. Amy's heart stopped beating when he saw numerous soldiers appear from different angles of the house.
Her eyes soon met with that of Nolan. She watched as Nolan walked towards her. Nolan wasn't expecting to meet Amy here.
"Nolan, what's going on?" Amy asked.
He sighed and said," I came to arrest Broderick."
"What's his offence?"
"He took over my country, that's a serious offence," that wasn't the reason why Nolan was here, he was here because Martha called him but since he met Amy here unexpectedly, he had to justify his act.
"Did you realize that you are ruling a country that you are not a citizen of? You are guilty too," Amy said.
"Amy, stop! I know we are friends but you must also understand that I'm the major general of the country and I won't watch someone dare me," Nolan said and commanded his soldiers," arrest him!"
As the soldiers walked towards Broderick, Amy stood right before Broderick and parted her two arms," you have to go through me first if you must take him away."
"Amy, get out of the way," Nolan said sternly. This was the first time his tone of voice would be hard to Amy. All these while, he had been gentle to her but he didn't like how Amy was defending Broderick. From what he understood, Broderick had hurt her countless times, why would she be defensive of him still?
"No one touches him," Amy insisted obstinately.
"Amy, don't disrespect the position that Nolan is. He's the president of our country and there is nothing you can do about it. You know it's too dangerous to stand against him, right? Please don't let him hurt you, get out of the way," Martha said.
Amy smirked and wondered why Martha was acting like she cared for her. "Nolan, I can't let them take Broderick away." Amy was so determined. They would have to hurt her before they can get to Broderick.
"Does it even make sense to defend him after all the pains he had caused you?" Nolan shouted in frustration.
"You don't understand 'love,' If you do, you would know that love is independent of the other party's acts and reactions. I love him and I'm not ashamed of it. You would have to shoot me first before you can arrest him," Amy said.
Nolan was so enraged that he clenched his fist so hard, "let's leave!" He said, turned and began to walk away with the soldiers.
"Nolan! Nolan! Will you leave just like that?" Martha asked in a loud voice but Nolan didn't turn back, he just kept walking away until he faded out of sight. He was enraged and have a silly plan in his head that he would now execute. He was tired of being gentle to Amy.
Amy smiled victoriously and said," bitch! What now? I'm sure you are one of the reasons why Nolan is here. Now get out of here."
Martha looked at Broderick who still laid unconscious and said," as long as he can't recover his memory, I still have a chance."
Amy smirked, unbothered by her words, "just get out."
Martha nodded and pretended to want to walk away, she suddenly removed the hairpin at the back of her air and swiftly lunched it towards Amy's neck. Amy guided it reflexly and threw a resounding slap to her that made her staggered back.
That was so close! If she had not guided the pin, she would have been bleeding on the floor right now and struggling to live.
She charged towards Martha and before she could balance herself, she threw another two hard slaps to her face that made her fall to the pool.
Martha wasn't so skilled in swimming so she quickly find her way out from the pool but she was so drenched.
Amy went to pick the bottle of drink beside Broderick and poured it on her drenched body, she then held her shirt and said," bitch! You have caused me so much pain, your mother is the reason why my parents are dead. And you are the reason behind the loss of memory of my children and their father. You deserve death."
Martha was so scared, she wasn't as strong as Amy and she knew that fighting back was useless, it would only anger Amy more.
Amy dragged her towards where Broderick's keeps his lion and as the Lions saw Amy walking over to their den with Martha, they stood from their laying position and roared as if they had seen their prey.
"Amy please! Amy! I beg you, don't do this, I'm not ready to die," Martha was scared to death. The face of the Liom were so scary that if she gets thrown inside, she wouldn't even have the chance to land on the floor before she would be a food for the animals.
"Amy, I will do anything you want, Please!" Martha cried desperately and was struggling hard not to move but Amy was stronger than her, she just kept dragging her roughly towards the Lion's den.
"Amy! I'm not ready to die. I'm sorry for everything I have done. I know I deserve death, but you can't be like me, don't be a murderer, please! Please! Please! Please!"
Amy turned deaf ears and and began to unlock the small metal door of the Lion's den.
"You bitch!" Amy eventually unlocked the door to the Lion's den.
