It Ends Here

At the station, Mr Wellington, Dr Andesh, Henry, Mirenda and Jason decided to leave. The General walked them to the exit before returning to his office.

"Wait, does it mean you faked your health condition?" Jason asked still surprised by how Mr Wellington was walking around like nothing happened.

"Well, Dr Andesh here was able to identify the chemical and prepared an antidote with the help of a friend," Mr Wellington said.

"Jane did drugged me and seeing this needle mark, I knew she injected me with the chemical. It was not going to kill me, but I will be lying in bed like I am in a coma," he explained.

"How did she come by such chemicals?" Jason asked as they walked towards their cars flanked by some bodyguards.

"Jane has a basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals, but her friend Maria has more than basic knowledge in that field," Mr Wellington explained.

"Does this scene remind you of anything?" Mirenda asked Jason as they stood by their parked cars.

"Yeah, when we came to get you out of prison and James was being sent to prison together with his accomplices," Mr Wellington blurted out.

"Yeah, but Julia is not here and Peter too," Jason said. "The scene is the same, but some people are not here," he added and they giggled.

"Any news about Fiona?" Mirenda asked.

"They found her. She will be brought here first before she is allowed to go home," Jason informed Mirenda.

"I think someone should stay behind then. I don't think she knows her baby is gone?" Mirenda suggested.

"You are right. I will stay back with Mirenda. I am sure there is a lot to take care of now that all those who attempted to take over the business are here," Henry said and they agreed.

Henry and Mirenda stayed behind while Jason, Mr Wellington and Dr Andesh left to sort out the situation with the businesses.

Fifteen minutes after they had left, a police car drove in and Fiona was brought out of the car. She was led to the police station. After speaking with the General, Mirenda and Henry were allowed to take Fiona.

"Fiona," Mirenda said as they walked out of the station.

"Mirenda you are here," Fiona said sounding sarcastic, stopping to face Mirenda in front of the station.

"Yes, I came to get you?" Mirenda replied ignoring her sarcasticism while Henry stood behind Mirenda.

"Why?" Fiona asked staring at Mirenda with a questioning look.

"We know James took you out of your apartment and we also know about your baby," Mirenda said.

"Oh," Fiona said averting her gaze.

Henry stared at her with a frown.

"Why didn't you tell anyone you had a baby?" Mirenda asked with a serious expression.

"I...I .. didn't know I had a baby," Fiona replied. "I mean, I didn't know I was pregnant," she corrected and pursed her lips.

"Fiona, did James do anything to you?" Mirenda asked finding her behaviour a bit odd.

"No, he didn't. He helped me take care of the baby. And Vera was becoming a nuisance," Fiona said holding up her hand like she was carrying a baby in her arms.

"Fiona, what happened to Vera?" Mirenda asked curiously as Henry listened to both ladies not at all interrupting.

"I didn't do anything. Believe me," Fiona said panicking.

"No one said you did something. What happened to Vera, just tell me," Mirenda coaxes and reaches for both of Fiona's hands.

"Okay, I didn't know her neck had become so weak like a spoilt baby doll. I only touched her neck and it broke," Fiona said, and Mirenda frowned and moved her head back wondering what was wrong with Fiona.

"Fiona, tell me. How did it happen?" Henry stepped in.

"She was taking care of my baby, and James came out of prison. We wanted to start our own family, but Vera broke her promise and James didn't like what Vera was doing. She returned the baby and left. Making noise. So I went to visit her when James left to do his surgery. I wanted to know why she broke our promise. She was still making noise. So I held her mouth so she would be quiet and her neck broke. I didn't know her neck was that fragile," Fiona said. "Her neck was spoilt," she added.

"I see. So, why did you give your baby sleeping pills," Henry asked already realizing what was happening to Fiona.

"She is very loud and I didn't want her attracting anyone to us," Fiona replied. "James was mad at me for giving her sleeping pills," she added lowering her head.

Henry and Mirenda exchanged glances before leading Fiona back to the station. They told the general everything Fiona had told them. Fiona was honest and answered every question asked her, but they could tell from the way she was talking that mentally she wasn't sound. The General still had her arrested.

"The judge would decide what to do with her. For now, we have a confession, she murdered Vera," the General said to Henry and Mirenda, who just nodded.

Henry and Mirenda left the station to meet up with Mr Wellington and Jason to work on restoring the businesses.

Henry proceeded to work while Julia and Mirenda met at Haward's International to put everything back in place. At the Wellington company, Jason and Mr Wellington also did the same putting everything moved back in place. When they were done it was past 7 p.m. Jason went to pick up Julia and Mirenda and headed for his apartment.

"Where is Fiona?" Jason asked.

"hmmm," Mirenda sighed. "It turns out Fiona murdered Vera," she informed him. "She is not mentally sound. She is not okay," she added.

"What?" Julia exclaimed.

"Yeah," Mirenda replied and gave them the details as they headed for home.

A couple of days passed and the trial of Maria, Matilda, Jane, James and Fiona took place at the court. Jane, Matilda and Maria were slapped with a fifteen-year prison sentence for conspiring to kill Mr Wellington. They were slapped with another twenty-five years jail sentence for possession of dangerous chemicals. The final slap gave them a life jail sentence without the possibility of parole. James on the other hand, was completely broken carrying an urn that he refused to part with. He was put under house arrest with a therapist. Fiona was also given a house arrest with a therapist. This was due to their current state of mind. Fiona was not mentally sound and James was psychologically traumatized.

"I told you James had changed?" Julia said to Jason.

"It was hard to believe," Jason said as they walked out of the courthouse. "I am glad all of this is over. No more problems," he added.

"So what did the DNA test result say?" Jason asked Mr Wellington as he was standing close to him.

"Jane my wife is your aunt. Her twin sister is your biological mother, but she is dead," Mr Wellington replied.

"Hmmm," Jason said. "I never felt any connection with her as a mother like I did with you as a father," he added.

"Well, now that this is all over. Jason, I think you need to take Julia on vacation. You two called off your honeymoon," Mirenda said and Julia giggled.

"I am thinking about it. I will plan something," Jason said before they all got into their cars heading back to their companies.

Three weeks later, Henry and Mirenda got married in a grand style. Jason planned a vacation with Julia on the same day Henry and Mirenda chose for their honeymoon. They all left together for France for a nice vacation.

The End
