Daredevil's Mistress

Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Cody opened his eyes and glared at her as his body wrestled for self-restraint. The unconcealed desire he read in her gaze mirrored his need. “No, I am not. I’m protecting you from idle gossip.” His teeth clenched as she stroked him harder. A week away from her blasted his control out the door. Desperately he kept his feelings in check.

“But it’s you who needs protection, Cody. Not me,” she stuttered amid kisses down the ridges of his abdomen. The tips of her breasts gliding over his body as she slid down were truly distracting.

“Me? Who do I need protection from? There is not a single damn person who could hurt me, anymore.” His heart pumped erratically. She drove him crazy and he loved it.

“You need protection.” One finely arched brow rose suggestively. “From me, cowboy. ’Cause I ain’t about to give in.” Samantha lifted her head from her apparently gratifying task. Her lips curved in a wayward smile. The look in her eyes, one of pure control, and steadily flashed a ‘you’re mine’ warning. The storm he sensed was here.

Goddammit, he needed to stop her now. Attempting to grab her, the unexpected sensation of her mouth as it moved to cover his cock froze his hands mid-air. “Sweet Jesus, Lady.” Shocked pleasure surged through his veins. The unbearably erotic sensation caused his hips to jerk helplessly against the actions of her delightfully destructive mouth.

Barely able to hold on, Cody drowned in a whirlpool of stubborn passion from which there was only indulgence. She held his cock to her lips and let the top slide inside her mouth. Samantha swirled her tongue over its head and played with the slit in the tip. Stunned, Cody clutched the sheet in fistfuls. Every cell in his body spiked rigidly with vehement fervor. Her mouth was fucking hot as she swallowed his length and sucked hard.

“Oh, hell, Lady. Why can’t I resist you?”

It was true. His tongue lashing to avoid her proved futile so far. Sliding him in and out of her mouth, her fingers ringed his shaft to keep him wet. The action made him harder. Her hair, a curtain of black velvet fell over his thighs and shielded his view. Yet the feel of her tongue as it danced lazily over his length shot spasms of sensual darts down his body.

Was it possible to desire someone so aggressively? An arousal so deadly, it defied the boundaries of taking without asking. He was already on the verge of coming if he didn’t stop her soon. While he often pictured her sweet luscious mouth making love to his cock. All he wanted at this very moment was to sink his hardness deep into her hot wetness. A case of once tasted, never wasted and he needed her now.

Cody shot up with lightning speed, grabbed a surprised Samantha by the waist, and yanked her down. Sheer, insane voracity drove his actions as he parted her legs hastily and sheathed her on his cock with a harsh groan. Greedily, her scorching tightness enveloped his hardness. A sense of pure heaven, hell, and everything in between filled his seduced mind.

Damn, he’d gone to dizzying heights before, but not this high. Her nipples were dark and firm, an exquisite contrast to the caramel sheen of her skin in the glow from the bedside lamp. Slowly, she cupped her breasts and ran her thumbs back and forth over the taut nipples. A sexy smile played at the corners of her mouth.

Entranced, Cody couldn’t wait. He gripped her bottom tightly as he thrust upward hard and deep. A guttural growl fled his lips “God, I need you, darlin’.” A burn from within radiated rapidly as she matched his movements, deliciously wet and amazingly hot. Samantha leaned forward, flicked her tongue across his nipples, and grazed them with her teeth. The sensation drove Cody wild. Greed like no other consumed his very soul. His entire body caught up in a frenzied haze of carnal desire from which he feared no return.

Her inner muscles tightened. It made his cock harder and fuller. Their mouths met in a feverish mating. Teeth clashed, tongues danced, nipped, and nibbled as their bodies rocked in a wild abandonment. One from which they were sure to fall, quickly. And they did. Their desire broke the surface. Hot, rigid, and lethally consuming.

Samantha ripped her mouth from his, threw back her head, arched her spine, and cried out in release, “Oh God, Cody.”

As his gaze raked her glistening body, it trembled with pleasure. Cody discerned whatever lessons she’d come to teach him, he was exactly where he wanted to be…needed to be. Their heated bodies became one, no longer pure lust or basic need but having Samantha, an essential desire. Hands on her hips, he gripped her tightly, thrust upward fighting to hold back. The roar of his racing heart marked his own approach. Cody surrendered, took her with him, as they spun and soared. Awakened, he drove them in a spiraling, out of control climax.

The sun streaked through the pale blue curtains. Samantha opened her lids and blinked rapidly to adjust her sight. Sparkles of sunlight peeped around the edges of the curtains and bounced off the walls like glittering gems. A sense of déjà vu struck as her gaze roamed the room in mild trepidation. Dazed, she recalled the events of the previous night. Her plan to leave well before everyone woke, clearly didn’t pan out. Languid after their intense night, she drifted off snuggled in the warm comfort of Cody’s arms.

She surveyed his sleeping frame, her body heated involuntarily. The potency of his touch wasn’t easily forgettable. Her smile faltered when his previous words nicked her thoughts. Don’t let the family in on their secret or was there another name for it? Her mind drifted. Lost and searching. Then it hit her with a thunderous force and rattled her to the core. She was in love with Cody.

No.

She couldn’t be in love with him. Not this insensitive, arrogant…tender, charming, and passionate man. Her thoughts, logic and reasoning crested into chaos. This couldn’t be happening? Like Cody said, people didn’t fall in love so quickly? Love needed time? Then where did ‘love at first sight’ stem from. Surely someone fell in love with something at first glance which influenced that declaration. Maybe it is possible to fall in love quickly.

Inexperienced in the art of lovemaking, her dare last night took their relationship above and beyond plain flirtation. Over the last week, a feeling of inadequacy nagged her constantly. As if something was missing. She missed Cody. After their first meeting, the likelihood it led them down a path of this magnitude, looked impossible at best. Why then does it still not feel right?

Perhaps his request unsettled her more than she cared to admit. What if someone spotted her leaving his room? It may anger him? God, this is awful. There was the off chance he may ask her to leave his room when he woke. Her lids burned with the sting of unshed tears. Samantha shut her eyes tight and prayed not to cry.

If she left now while he was asleep, it may be easier and then there was simply no reason for tears. She shifted slightly, eased up his arm lying across her tummy, and took care not to disturb him as her feet dropped over the side of the bed. Samantha bent down to retrieve her discarded dress. Straightening, she froze. Unflinching, Cody’s penetrating blue eyes stared at her, his face devoid of expression.

“H…hi,” she whispered. “Going somewhere?”

She almost tripped over herself at his calm, lazy response. His lips curved in a sensuous smile. There’s that cheeky dimple again. Her knees buckled. At a loss for words, she stared.

“I asked you a question, Lady.”

“Um.” She gave herself a mental shake and smiled. “It’s morning. The others may be up by now. I don’t want anyone to see me leave your room.” “It didn’t bother you last night.”

“Er…last night, I was possessed by a fiery demon.” She uttered a nervous laugh to ease her tense muscles.

“I sure liked that demon.”

Silently, she held his gaze. If only she could read his mind… Did he regret their night together?

“Come here, Samantha.”

Debating the odds of whether he wanted her to go or stay, she stood rooted to the spot. The discovery she was in love with the man frightened her into a panic. Her secret would stay hidden. Samantha didn’t have the stomach for his rejection. Perhaps it was best if she returned to her room and did a little soul searching.

Off on a reasoning binge once more, she didn’t notice Cody slide off the bed and approach. She squealed in surprise when he scooped her up in his arms. He dropped her down on the mattress, pinned her securely under him, and put a resolute end to her deliberations.

“When I call, you come, Lady,” he said wickedly. “Didn’t you learn anything last night? I don’t give in so easily.”

“I didn’t give in.” His brows jumped up defensively.

“Oh, really. If I remember correctly you were the one who couldn’t hold on.”

“I was coerced.” He kissed her neck.

“Yeah, right. Men never know when to admit they’re wrong.”

“You’re wicked, Lady. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stop your insolent remarks and kiss me right now.”

“More idle threats? Don’t make promises you can’t keep, remember?”

“Then I better start the tally on those promises, don’t you think.” He grinned.

“You, darlin’, ain’t leavin’ this room anytime soon.” He claimed her mouth in a fiery kiss. The heat of which dissolved her befuddled deliberations with ease.
