# 46 A new Blackwood
# 46 A new Blackwood
** ** Omniscient narrator ** **
There was fear in Megan’s eyes as Mr. Blackwood slowly walked towards her, faced down with his hands dug into his pockets. Maybe she hadn’t thought this through, because what if he feels offended with her actions and chooses to fire her?
“Mr. Blackwood, I….” she tried to speak immediately.
“No, Megan…” He cut her short, with one finger up signaling her to hush. “I will go first,” he said calmly.
Megan paused and swallowed hard. That is it! She was losing her job, she realized she had messed up, she should have been in better control of her emotions.
“So… I just wanted to say that I acknowledge my mistakes that led to the unfortunate incident that occurred between us and I apologize for hurting your feelings in that manner, it was never intentional.”
Megan’s eyes widened in disbelief. an apology from Mr. Blackwood? That was almost as difficult as putting a cow through a needle, how was this possible?
“I guess what I am trying to say is that I am sorry, will you forgive me, Megan?” he concluded in a soft tone.
Megan was still in disbelief. She nodded her head immediately, “Yes Sir. I also had a role to play in all this, I should never have attempted to kiss you the way I did, I was lost in my delusions that I exaggerated the whole thing in my mind, I am sorry for that.”
“Hmm… I guess we are even now, can we just go back to the way things used to be? A grumpy CEO and his hardworking Secretary?” Mr. Blackwood asked.
Megan chuckled and nodded with a blush. “Yes Sir, I would appreciate that.”
“Alright then, it is done. I will see you around.” Mr. Blackwood said with a little smile and turned to leave, Megan nodded happily, she was glad that this matter had been resolved and was ready to put it all behind her.
Mr. Blackwood walked to the door and as soon as he opened it, Anna lost her balance and almost fell towards him, but thanks to her reflexes, she was able to grab onto the door frames and save her from falling.
Mr. Blackwood furrowed his eyebrows and stared at her in scrutiny. “Miss owl, were you eavesdropping?” he queried.

** ** Anna’s POV ** **
I scratched my head awkwardly and tried to avoid eye contact with him, I was caught in the act, and I had to look away in shame “What? Me? Hehe! No… I was just hanging around.” I lied amidst giggles.
Mr. Blackwood groaned and shook his head, then he walked out of the room and closed the door. He didn’t say another word to me as he began to walk away. I think I died of embarrassment as I watched him leave.
I quickly went inside to find Megan blushing, she immediately recapped everything that had transpired, although I already heard half of the whole thing from outside, I was glad that they had put their differences behind them and things were back to normal.
The hotel cook, who had the responsibility of making our breakfast, appeared not long after but I was strangely not hungry, even with all the alcohol from last night. I brushed my teeth and immediately left for Mr. Blackwood’s room. I had one or two things I wanted to say to him.
Getting to the corridor connecting to his room, it was cold as ice. For some reason, I felt like I was being followed. I looked back but there was no one behind me. I got to his door and knocked, just before I noticed the doorbell. Why does he get a doorbell and we don’t?
“What do you want, Miss Owl?” his deep voice sounded from the inside.
I froze and immediately looked around. How does he know it was me at the door? I hadn’t even said a word.
“Are you going to let me in or should I leave, kind Sir?” I replied with an accent, I doubt even his stone humor wouldn’t get a chuckle off that.
Shortly after, I heard the door open and there he stood with one hand in his pocket, looking nerdy in his well ironed shirt and pants. “Please step in, your grace?” he said with a sarcastic little bow and I chuckled.
He stepped out of the way and I walked inside, my eyes immediately went to the walls and I remembered what happened the last time I was in here, my heart did a backflip and my stomach rumbled in fear. Not fear of what he would do to me but fear of what he could make me do and feel.
“So…” I began as soon as I heard the door shut, and slowly turned to face him. “I heard the things you said to Megan…”
“So you were eavesdropping after all?” he cut me short with a quick twist of his head.
I smiled. “Or maybe she told me everything, the world doesn’t revolve around you, Mr. Blackwood.”
He scoffed and shook his head. “I didn’t realize that you two were BFF’s now.”
I paused and stared into his eyes. Was that jealousy that I was seeing?
“Why? Are you jealous?” I teased.
“You know she is Bisexual, right?” he asked coldly.
“Uhhhhh… So you are Jealous after all? Scared that she would steal me away?” I joked.
“Don’t be silly, Anna. You rate yourself too much.”
Even though I had used those same words for him seconds ago, I hate to admit that it hurt me to hear them. Why was he so mean to me?
“Whatever,” I said and rolled my eyes. “Anyway I just wanted to come over here and tell you that what you did was a good deed, thank you.”
“I didn’t do it for you, Miss Owl.” He blurted out.
I smiled, of course he still had a big ego to satisfy. “That makes it even better, shows you are capable of feelings and compassion, so thank you.” I said with a grin as I slowly began to walk past him to the door.
He grabbed my arm just as I was about to leave and cold encapsulated me, making my body shiver. Fuck! Why does a single touch from him make my whole body jittery?
“Anna…” he called softly and I turned to face him, this time with a more serious expression.
“I owe you an apology as well.”
I smirked. “Which one? You owe me a lot of apologies from the first day I set my eyes on you, Mr. Blackwood, so which one are you apologizing for?”
He made a low growl, showing his irritation at my words. “Don’t push it, Miss Owl. Anyways, I am sorry for the way I had treated you before this trip and since we embarked on it. You might be annoying but you didn’t deserve the way I have treated you in the past few days.”
“Hmm…” I hummed lightly. “I think you need to work on your apologies but I will accept that, thank you.” I smiled.
He laughed softly and then he let go of my arm. “Whatever.” He blurted. I thought that was my thing? He stole my word!
I headed towards the door and I had almost gotten there when he called me. “Anna…”
I paused and quickly turned around, he called my real name so it must be serious. He opened his mouth to speak but the words seemed too difficult to come out. What did he want to tell me? My heart began to skip that moment.
