I want Anabel back
I want Anabel back
As his mother pulled back from the hug, she noticed that the sadness was still in his eyes.
"But if this isn’t what’s been weighing on you, then why are you still sad? Why have you been so down?"
"I'm depressed because I lost a gold for a wood. You called her bumpkin, but Daniella was the actual bumpkin. Losing Anabel had been tearing me apart. She loved me, but I stamped on it. It's as if I lost everything that made me who I am. Though I was rich when I met Anabel, I got richer and richer while with her.. I didn't realize this until she left. I was getting a lot of contracts when she was with me, but after she left, I began to lose even the ones I was about to sign. And ever since then, I've never signed a reasonable contract. She was a blessing to me."
"Yeah, we were wrong about her. I thought it was just a coincidence. She was really a blessing to us. The problem was that she was barren. I was so desperate and in a hurry for a grandchild. I should not have brought Daniella. I should have let her adopt a child for you."
"But she's not barren." Desmond said, and his mother looked up at his face. "She's not barren? How did you know?" His mom asked.
"Anabel is pregnant. And I think... I think she’s pregnant with my child." He replied.
The room fell silent once again, but this time the room was charged with shock and disbelief. Mrs. Elizabeth felt her heart racing. This was the most shocking news she had ever heard. "Annabel? Pregnant? But Desmond, I thought... I thought she was barren. How is that possible?"
"No, that’s what you thought. But I met her at an auction ceremony. Her tummy was big."
"You concluded she's pregnant because you noticed her tummy was bigger? Or did she tell you she's pregnant?"
"I know what I saw, Mom. And judging from her response when I asked her, she's pregnant."
Bella’s eyes widened as memories rushed back. "Mom, there was a time Annabel told us she was pregnant. Do you remember?" Bella said with a trembling voice. "She told us, and... and we didn’t believe her. She even tried to show us the result paper, and Daniella tore it. We all thought she was lying because of Daniella."
"That means she was telling the truth. What have we done?" His mom said as his heart began to race more, seeing the mess she had committed. It was all because of her. "Elizabeth, what have you done to your son?"
"I'm scared I won't have her in my life again. I let her go when we needed each other most. And now, even if she is carrying my child, I don’t think she will ever forgive me. I don’t think she will ever come back." Desmond said in teary eyes and Bella grabbed his hand. "Don’t say that, brother. This is not the end. We will make this right, I promise you. We will do everything we can to get Anabel back in this family."
"Yes, Desmond." His mother added. "We owe you and Anabel that much. We will find Anabel, and we will do whatever it takes to fix this. She deserves to know how much you care about her. All that happened was a desperate act."
"I don’t know if it’s possible. So much has happened. So much damage has been done."
"But you still love her, don’t you?" Bella pressed and he replied, "I’ve never stopped loving her."
"Then don’t give up." Bella said. "Not yet. We still have a chance."
Desmond looked at his mother and sister. He could see how determined they were. Maybe....just maybe, there was still a chance to make things right and get Anabel back to his life again.
