Chapter 123 Let the torture begin

Chapter 123 Let the torture begin

Marina's POV

"Ahem, I think we should go in now ". I said with a cough adverting my eyes from his.

This guy really does know how to make a lady's heart flutter, most especially mine.

"Yeah ". He nodded before knocking on the door.

" Why are you ..." The rest of the words I wanted to say just went back into my mouth as the door opened, and three heavily built guys came out.

" Boss ". They all bowed showing respect to Mark.

" Did you touch her? "

I blinked at how cold and stern Mark's voice sounded as he conversed, more like ordered the huge me.

" No sir. But she did put up a fight while we were bringing her here so she has some bruises". One of them answered still bowing.

I just shook my head, refusing to allow myself to think too deeply about what exactly was going on, and went into the room.

"Oh, it's you ". A smirk appeared on my face when I saw the woman. It was the same warder who I spoke to two days ago when I came to visit Rachel.

Her hands were tied really tight to a rope on the ceiling, and her face was slightly swollen.

She opened her eyes to glance at me and then began laughing.

"What's so funny?" I asked, still with a smirk, before looking at the table, which was in the far corner of the room.

There were knives of different types, drillers, and even instrument gangers in movies used to remove the entire nails of their victims; there was even a long, strong belt filled with sharp nails.

This was perfect.

The lady's laughter interrupted me from surveying the torturing instructions further and I looked back at her. " I ask again, what's so funny?"

"You. What do you think you're doing here? Do you think this is a place for a rich little princess?" She said with a snort.

Rich little princess? I had not been called that in a very long time.

" Do you remember me?" I asked instead of answering her question, taking a seat on the only chair in the room which was also directly opposite the woman hanging by her hands.

She snorted again. "The rich brat who insulted me. Of course, I remember you; how is your friend now, huh?" She asked with malicious laughter.

Mark walked in right at that moment, but he stayed by the door.

" So you did that to Rachel because of what I said to you?" I asked and she laughed again in affirmation.

I knew it.

Right from when Mark got that call from Ethan that Rachel had been rushed to the hospital, I knew it was my fault, I just didn't know how I caused it, and now I did.

My eyes met with Mark's and I saw the guilt in my eyes through his, and then I looked away.

" I was the one who insulted you. That was me, why did you have to drag that innocent girl into this?" I half yelled.

The feeling of guilt was starting to consume me, and I needed to let it out.

" Innocent?" The ties-up woman scoffed again. "That friend of yours is a murderer! I only gave her what she fucking deserved!"

"Rachel is no murderer! "I yelled standing up sharply from the chair while glaring at the woman in front of me with anger.

" Hey, Marina. " l felt two cold hands on my shoulders holding me. " Calm down. You're giving her what she wants and that is you getting riled up ".

I knew he was right, but I just couldn't help myself.

" But Rachel is not a murderer". I said again and Mark nodded. " Yes, she's not. I know it, you know it and Ethan knows it and that's all we need "

Deep down, I knew he still had his doubts about Rachel, but his words just felt so comforting that I believed them.

I nodded before looking back at the now-laughing woman. " You sure are masochist aren't you? I want to see how long it's going to last ". My lips broke into a sinister smile as I walked back towards the table and picked up the prickling belt.

Let the torture begin.

"Ahhhhh!"

...

Ethan's POV

After the confirmation Joyce gave that Rachel was fine and doing well, Marina asked for the location of the female officer, and I gave her.

She was determined to take care of the woman by herself, so I just had to let her be, but Mark wouldn't.

He was out when she left, so immediately he came back. He asked about her whereabouts, and I told him. He didn't even stay up to five seconds before he rushed after her.

He had fallen deep for that loud-mouthed girl, really deep. So deep to the point that he had begun considering going back to the Walker family and claiming his right as the only son of his parents just so he could protect Marina.

If it really was a framework, which it definitely looks like, Marina must also be under the killer's radar, and Mark was not ready to risk it.

I, on the other hand, had a plan of my own, but first, I needed to know what was the exact evidence they had against Rachel.

Even if she didn't want me to help her, I couldn't just sit idle and wait for justice to be served, which I knew well enough would never happen, especially since someone was pulling the strings out there.

I walked toward the chief's office stealthily and knocked on his door. " Oh, Mr Wright... Welcome, welcome please have your seat". The man said in an overjoyous voice.

I couldn't blame him though. It was not every day Ethan Wright came to a station, not to talk of one as small as his.

" Welcome again sir. Em... Do you want anything to eat or drink? " He asked, still with a smile as he led me to sit on the high chair that was originally meant to be his.

Eat or drink? In a place like this?

I would gladly pass.

" No need. " I said when I noticed he was already calling his secretary.

I sat on the chair leaning my back into it.

It was comfortable.

The chief went to sit on one of the visitor's chairs opposite me. " Oh, in that case then. What can I help you with Sir Wright? " He asked getting straight to the topic.

That was a good first impression. I said to myself as I looked at him.

It was obvious he was trying to get on my good side, and that was what I needed right now.

" My woman is in your custody ". I said curtly and I saw his eyes turn completely round.

"Your woman sir? In a station like this? "

' Oh, you know your station is too small and unworthy,' I snickered in my mind but kept a straight face.

"Who is she? I'll get her released immediately!"

I smirked before sitting more comfortably on the seat I was in, crossing my legs on one another before looking back at him.

"You might know her since she is the talk of the town right now, Rachel Andrews."

He first blinked, as if trying to register the name before he suddenly froze up.

He did know her.

"The upcoming actress who murder the iconic star Lana Fareham?" He asked in shock and my expression turned cold.

I glared at him clenching my jaw tightly together. " Rachel is not a murderer"
