Chapter 18 I'm your new partner

Chapter 18 I'm your new partner

Rachel's POV

As I was walking out stage, I fumbled with my phone, trying to call Ethan back to know the reason he called me.

"What the..." I bumped into someone suddenly startling me.

"It's you..." The person said surprisedly.

Who the hell?

I raised my head to see who it was.

Behold, it was Lana.

Mother fucking freaking Lana!

What was she doing here?

"What are you doing here?" She asked the question in my mind to me.

She was wearing glamorous clothes and carrying an expensive purse... She had started acting the part of Andrew already.

Two ladies were by her side, both crossed their hands and faced me angrily.

"You know, I could ask you the same thing."

Or could it be...

A thought came to my head.

Marina said that the first and second lead actresses were taken already since Olivia is the first... Could Lana possibly be the second?

God please no...

"No... This is my place of work... I should be the one asking you what you're doing here."

Shit! I'm right.

Deep breaths, Rachel, deep breaths

"Just so you know, I didn't come here for a fight. I only came for an audition." I answered back.

Why the hell did I tell her that?

Lana burst into laughter immediately.

"You are pathetic you know. After just few days of being dumped by David you're already jumping on other men's beds just so you can have a job so you can survive... Really pathetic."

"How dare you..." I could feel my anger rise at her words

Rachel... Don't lose it now, she's not worth it.

The best answer to give a bitch like her was silence, that I know.

I just crossed my arms and stared at her at her, a sly smile dancing on my lips.

"What... Aren't you saying anything anymore? What is it now, cat got your tongue? Or you're ashamed to admit the truth..."

"Oh, Rachel you're still here and with... Her!" Marina walked up to both of us and glared at Lana.

I turned my gaze to her, my eyes asking her the question in my mind with my eyes.

' Did you know about this? '

She shook her head slowly.

So she didn't know?

"My, my, director Marina, I was so shocked when I found out you were one of the co-directors." Lana laughed scornfully as she clapped her hands at us.

"I can see you're with her, Rachel, again... Back to being friends, I see..."

"I can't believe you can do such a thing to Rachel, you were her best friend..."

"And did you know what Rachel did to me?" Lana shouted, attracting some of the passers-by's attention. I looked around before taking Marina's hands.

"Everyone is watching; we need to leave," I whispered to her. I was about to drag her away when Lana spoke again.

"Rachel... You took everything away from me, I'm only taking back what's rightfully mine."

I saw the way Marina clenched her teeth in anger. She shook my hands, holding her's off, and walked closer to Lana.

"What's rightfully yours? Ha... You ruined Rachel's interaction with her family; you ruined her marriage. How can you be so cruel?"

"Me... Cruel..." Lana pointed at herself with a fake look of disbelief on her face.

Oh how so much I wanted to slap that look of her. But we were gaining too much attention.

"I'm only giving her a taste of her own medicine, and trust me there would be more." Lana said with a smug look on her face.

"Then you forget that I'm one of the directors. I can just fire you right now..." Marina was losing her temper, I could see it.

"Marina let's just go." I dragged her to my side.

"It's best not to talk to people who can stoop so low to the point of sleeping with people husband's just to get what she wants." I whispered to Marina, not loud enough for the lurking gossipers to hear, but loud enough to reach Lana's ears.

And just like I expected, she lost the reins of her temper.

"How dare you... I'm Lana Andrews the biological daughter of the Andrew family... You are the imposter, not me!" She yelled.

I smiled triumphantly.

I took Marina's hand again; I was about to leave before I turned back to look at Lana one more time.

" By the way... Get ready to see me more often, I'm your new work partner." I smirked at Lana before walking away with Marina.

"You..." Lana yelled infuriated by my actions. Exactly what I wanted.

I walked out of the huge hall, half dragging Marina with me. She had been talking nonstop about how terrible Lana was, and as much as I loved to hear her insult her, I had to get home.

"That Lana is just too much!" Marina yelled with frustration. Immediately, I came to a stop.

"I guess she has changed so much. Her real colors are finally showing." I answered calmly.

How I was this calm... That I had no idea, but I somehow felt at peace even when I knew I would be working with my worst enemy for months.

"OMG Rachel... You were so cool and calm, and you put Lana in her without even saying much." Marina continued, her pretty face lit up in a bright smile.

Then suddenly, her smile disappeared, replaced with guilt.

"Marina..."

"I'm sorry, I know I should have told you Lana was the first female supporting actress, but I only found out today, even before you told me all those things Lana did to you. I just didn't want to lay it out on you like that." She bowed her head, playing with her fingers.

"It's alright. If you'd told me, I might not have even auditioned. Thank you." I held her hands and gave her a kind smile.

The weather was getting dark and chilly.

" Your phone's ringing" Marina pointed out.

I checked the caller, it was Ethan.

"Excuse me."

"Ethan... "

' Where the hell are you? 'Ethan's loud voice came out from the phone, sending shivers down my spine.

"I just... I went somewhere with a friend. I'm about to head home right now."

Gosh... Why was he so angry? And his voice, it sounded... Well, it sounded worried.

"Where are you? I'll send John to pick you up."

I relayed the address of where I was on the phone before hanging up.

"So... This Ethan of a guy, is he your boyfriend?" I heard Marina ask immediately I ended the call.

"No.. no" I could feel my face heating up.

Ethan... My boyfriend?

That was impossible!

"He's just, just a friend." I muttered more to myself than to Marina.

"Hmmm, just a friend yet you're blushing so hard" Marina teased giggling.

I tried to smile but it only came out crooked.

"He's not my boyfriend." I denied it firmly.

Marina gave me a disbelieving look, before shrugging her shoulder.

Seriously?

"You know what, he's someone you know." I stated and Marina looked at me in shock

"What? Someone I know?"

A car pulled up beside me before I could answer. The window of the driver's seat pulled down slightly to reveal John's face.

"Ms. Rachel... Mr. Ethan sent me to get you." He said politely coming down from his driver's seat to open the back door for me.

Marina walked up to me and trapped me in a hug.

"Just how rich is this guy?" She muttered, and I giggled.

I ask myself the same question.

Pulling away from the hug I smiled at her.

"I can't even tell. Bye Arian."

I entered the car and bade Marina farewell. She was going to keep asking about who Ethan was until I told her, that is for sure.

"Just how did Ethan look when he sent you to me?" I asked John.

His voice sounded worried, and annoyed at the same time.

"Well... Disturbed."
