Chapter 66
Chapter 66
MONICA’S POV
The fear in Adria’s eyes had been delightful as I held up the instrument with which I was going to burn her skin and she had looked up at me, shaking her head and trying to speak but of course, couldn’t because of the sweet tape I had spread over her large, promiscuous mouth.
She had continued to shake her head and the sound of her muffling had become louder.
“Shut it!” I had snapped, leaving my sweet instrument of torture in the fire. “If you had not been so greedy, you wouldn’t have taken my man! You should at least have a sign to remind you of your wayward ways? He’s a damn professor. He’s not your age. There is a huge age gap and he has a girl he is meant to marry and… what? You think you can just come in to the scene and snatch him away? No way, darl, tough choice because I’m going to make you regret every single thing you’ve done.” I had promised and left the cabin to arrange my things so I could leave.
I was very sure she would give in, sign the papers and let me handle the rest so she’d be on the earliest possible flight the next morning because no one would like the pain I had been about to inflict on her.
When I was done, and sure my instrument was totally ready, I picked it up and she began to move and shake violently trying to get away.
“Ah, I just love the smell.” I commented and pushed up her skirt to reveal the thighs that Lucien had probably slept on, the thighs he had probably roamed his eyes on.
The thighs that had probably driven him crazy. It made me angry and I wanted to hit her head with my metal cane, hit her and hit her until the breath had left her nostrils. Even burning her skin didn’t seem enough.
Tears ran down her face and her eyebrows were curved in a wavy line expressing fear and sadness, but then I recalled Lucien had called me minutes ago. He would suspect me if I wasted my time and if Adria was eventually found, if my plan failed and Lucien saw the mark on my skin, he might get uncontrollably angry and hate me more.
“I’ll be back.” I had told her with spite and had thrown away the metal. She had breathed heavily like the relief she felt had been too much for her to handle, and I had stared daggers at her before going to turn off the gas cooker and storm out to meet Lucien.

After the meeting with Lucien where they all seemed to suspect me, I had stayed in my house so they wouldn’t have further reasons to suspect me and I had decided to leave Adria alone for the day, but after meeting Lucien outside my house on my way to get some milk because I was out of them, I changed my mind.
He had been so arrogant and it was clear he had been searching for her nonstop. If I went missing, would he search for me? Would he even care? I doubted he would do that, yet he was there using his everything just for a pesky human, he was wasting all his affection on that stupid human instead of me who deserved it.
My heart ached painfully and I tried my best not to show signs of tears in my voice as I had talked to him confidently. He had mentioned breaching the treaty if I had been found out but of course I wasn’t going to be found out because Adria would be out the next morning on the earliest flight.
I also knew the elders would force my father to punish me but that was only if I got caught, and I wasn’t about to be, so instead of the route to get milk, I skillfully deviated from the path, pulling my hood over my head and making my way to the next street.

ADRIA’S POV
I had been scared out of my wits when Monica had been about to burn the horrible word onto my thighs. She had looked so serious and had a deadly expression on her face but had suddenly stopped, and even as she did, she still had that crazed look in her eyes.
She had left and I had been reduced to tears. The fear alone had been too much. It had risen in me like a mountain and had held my heart in its grip. I didn’t want to feel that deathly feeling anymore and had cried it out instead. Was she going to return and continue with it?
Just as I had thought about Monica, I heard her footsteps coming back and I panicked once more. My tied hands shook and I felt the urgent need to wee. I was really going to do it on myself if she scared me any more than I could handle.
Monica came in and pulled back her hood.
“Okay, this would be the last straw. I will give you one more day to think about it. Just one more day, if by tomorrow, you’re not ready, guess what will happen to you?” She asked, and I wanted to cry out loud and beg her to leave me but I couldn’t. I also wanted to wait for Lucien because I knew he’d be disappointed if I agreed to leave him all because Monica made threats.
Monica took off her hoodie and something strange began to happen. Her forearms began to grow more hair and I watched as her eyes began to deepen, turning into a dark brown then becoming wine before blooming into a full deep red.
My breath seized as I watched Monica looking more and more like the beast I had seen Lucien shift into on the day I discovered his true colour. Her eyebrows knitted into a ‘V’ and her shoulders grew more hunched and muscular, and in seconds, she wasn’t the Monica I knew.
Monica… was a wolf.
