Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 52

Chapter 52

ADRIA'S POV

I stared at the message for a while, unable to take my eyes off it. It was simply shocking. Whoever sent the text message knew who Lucien was and the person was likely threatening her, but then who could have sent such a message? Who could it be that knew Lucien? Or could it be one of the vampires that Lucien had told me he was chasing after? Were they aware of our relationship? Why did they send the text to me?

I knew I had to get across to Lucien somehow and warn him about the risk of his identity being exposed because everything about the message just seemed threatening.

"Who are you texting while we're enjoying our movie?" Stacy asked, hitting my phone and I turned it off.

"Nobody." I replied, but she snatched my phone and threw it into her bag.

"No phones, no messages. You're to ficus on the movie as you will give me a feedback on it."

"Yes ma'am." I replied robotically and we continued to watch the movie. It reminded me a lot of the day I had watched a movie with Lucien. The day had been spectacular. After watching a movie, we went to a restaurant to get something to eat.

"Ah, that movie was hilarious." Tommy said as he swallowed the pizza in his mouth.

"That's disgusting, don't talk when you haven't chewed all that's in your mouth." Daniel snapped, and Tommy opened his mouth wide.

"There's nothing in my mouth, idiot. I swallowed it all." Tommy retorted, and I laughed.

"I envy Charlie and Janette's love. I wish I had a love like that." Stacy said with her hands clasped together.

"If wishes were horses…" Tommy started.

"Beggars would ride." Daniel finished and they laughed.

"Now what's that supposed to mean?" Stacy asked looking at them like she could kill them.

"You guys never bicker enough." I commented as I tore out a slice of pizza and held it to my mouth. "Hmm, this is delicious." I murmured, licking my fingers and taking an even bigger bite of pizza.

"You seem like the only one enjoying this." Daniel commented, and sipped his drink.

"Well, you three love to talk and I love to eat." I said, chewing noisily to annoy them, but instead they laughed.

"You're so annoying." Stacy said, laughing.

"It's good to have the four of us eating again though." Tommy said seriously which was totally unlike him.

"Yeah, I admit that too." Daniel said, tearing out another piece of pizza.

"Same here. I had no idea I missed you guys a lot. Now, are you guys gonna eat quicky or want me to finish it all?" I asked, dipping my hand into the fries and scooping up a large amount.

"Hey!" They all shouted, but I went ahead to squeeze it all into my mouth.

I loved being with my friends. I felt at home most of the time and in that moment, I decided not to forget them no matter what happened. Even if I had a dozen new friends, I was going to make sure I didn't forget them and leave them all by themselves.

When I got home that day, I was smiling. It had been a fun day and it was something I was looking forward to doing again. The stars twinkled in the sky and I guess I was so happy that I even noticed the sky I never stared at on a normal day.

"Adria." Someone called, and I jumped in shock. I hadn't expected to see or hear anyone as it was quite late.

I turned around and saw a figure sitting on a branch with their legs stretched out on the branch and even before the person came down, I had known who it was—Monica.

She jumped down from the branch and her dark hair swung, covering her face.

"Monica. How did you know my house was close by? Or were you just lounging on the tree?" I asked, and she shook her head slowly as she walked towards me. She was dressed in tight blue jean shorts and a white crop top which had a hand off a shoulder.

She was beautiful facially and physically.

"I sent you a text. You didn't reply. Why? Did your friends tell you not to?" She asked, stopping in front of me and I sighed. Monica needed friends—friends of her own. As much as I wanted to walk with Monica and be friends with her, I couldn't compromise my friendship for hers. I couldn't leave my friends.

"No. Why would they tell me not to? And also I didn't receive a text from…" I was saying but then suddenly recalled the text I had received in the theater. "That was you?" I asked, pointing at her in surprise, and she nodded.

Why would Monica send that?

She knew nothing of Lucien, did she?

How come? Lucien was not the clumsy type to let his secret out anyhow and to anyone..

"Yes I did. It's hard to believe but I think if there was a werewolf in our midst, it would be Professor Lucien. They're usually handsome or beautiful creatures. Beauty that makes humans want to stare. Beauty that humans can't rival. They're great pretenders and usually have an air of mystery around them. When I thought of all that, I felt Professor Lucien was likely to be one. He's simply too perfect." She explained softly, and I gave a light chuckle.

"Is that why you think he must be a wolf? You're really funny, Monica and quite passionate about werewolf mystery stuff too. Do you wish to meet one in your lifetime? You might not know, you might have met one." I said, and she gave a little laugh.

"I might have met one?" She asked, sounding like she was talking more to herself than to me.

"Yeah. Is that why you came all the way here? Because you think Professor Lucien must be a wolf?" I asked, and her eyes met mine.

"No," she said, and I raised a brow. "Because I know he is one."
