Chapter 5 The Strange Flower-Faced Spider
Chapter 5 The Strange Flower-Faced Spider
From the outside, Happiness Town doesn't look like anything special, until Xu Si arrived.
The survivors had already rushed into the shops at the town entrance to collect supplies.
Xu Si didn't stop the car; the town where he was born and raised was very similar to this one.
These small towns typically have only one reasonably sized shopping mall.
They're usually in the town center, so there's no need for him to waste time there; that's where he'll reap the biggest rewards.
Sure enough, he wasn't the only clever one. Several motorcycles were scattered in front of the town's central shopping mall, and the gates were wide open, as if beckoning to him.
"Damn it, let's get this done. We can't leave empty-handed after venturing into this treasure trove."
Since he didn't have a backpack, he could only take out his work pants, which had already been tied up, from the takeout box, and rush into the mall with his "big machete" in hand.
The mall has two floors. Experience tells him that food is usually on the first floor and clothing is usually on the second floor, so he went straight along the outer wall of the mall toward the first floor.
Along the way, we also saw many survivors crouching down, collecting supplies.
"Damn it, with so many supplies, he only took one pair of pants to carry them. People will laugh at him!"
Its eyes darted around, searching for something to put its contents in.
Upon seeing something, Xu Si's eyes lit up. He reached out and pulled down the curtain at the mall entrance, rushing towards the rice, flour, and cooking oil section—that was where the good stuff was.
He spread the curtains on the floor and threw all sorts of food, instant noodles, salt, and dried noodles onto them. Greed took over his mind, and he didn't care whether he could carry them or whether his little electric scooter could run them.
He didn't come to his senses until he saw a survivor carrying a huge backpack walking out.
He pulled up the four corners of the curtain, wrapped it into a bundle, and was about to throw it on his back, but the bundle didn't budge.
"It's over," Xu Si thought with a sudden tightness in his chest.
He used all his strength just now, but the bundle didn't budge. He definitely can't open the bundle and take the things out now; that would be a real idiot.
As he tried to drag the bundle outside, a pair of large hands reached out and casually picked up his large bundle, hanging it on his body as if it were nothing.
It even caused him to stumble.
"Quick, something's weird!" At this moment, a fight had broken out on the second floor of the mall. It was that schoolgirl who was stalling for time.
Yes, that girl must have gone to the second floor to collect clothes or women's items.
Just as Xu Si was walking forward with the burly man, a floor slab fell behind him, and a pretty schoolgirl fell down from it.
Is it really that violent?
"Why haven't you left yet?" The student didn't look well; her backpack was nowhere to be found, and much of her white clothing was showing.
Xu Si finally discovered the strangeness of the mall through the large hole in the ceiling.
It was a bizarre, spotted spider. Its thick limbs clung to the entrance of the hole like a spider, and its spotted face had only one strange eye that stood upright like a leaf. Its mouth looked like a zipper that had been pulled open horizontally.
He was tilting his head, looking at the group of survivors on the first floor.
"Hehehehe!" At the same time, a clattering sound, as if deliberately knocking on the floor, came from the second floor of the mall.
Xu Si felt a chill run down his spine; there was more than one eerie creature.
"Run!" Xu Si shouted.
He casually picked up a hiking backpack that had fallen to his feet; that's what they mean by "a thief never leaves empty-handed."
The survivors were faster than him.
Surprisingly, the fastest one was the injured schoolgirl. At this moment, the eerie thing at the cave entrance had fallen down, and its long legs swept towards Xu Si like scythes.
Oh no, I've really messed things up this time!
The burly man in front of him seemed to sense something. His right fist instantly solidified into a steel-reinforced concrete-like luster, swelled up to the size of a tank in front of Xu Si, and then punched to the side.
Xu Si was close by, and the heavy impact resounded right next to his ears.
However, this punch saved him from certain death.
However, the strange creature seemed unaffected; although it deviated from its course, it quickly corrected itself and continued to chase after them.
However, the entrance on the first floor had already been occupied by other strange entities, and even more strange entities were rushing towards the entrance on the second floor.
The schoolgirl had already confronted the eerie presence at the door. The visceral impact of the punches left Xu Si somewhat taken aback; this was the gentle girl he remembered.
"Break down the wall," Xu Si reminded him.
Meanwhile, the other strange creatures from the second floor had descended to the first floor and were reaping the lives of the survivors.
Xu Si witnessed two middle-aged men being cut in half at the waist, with supplies scattered all over the ground.
If I had taken that hit squarely just now, the same thing would be happening right now!
Upon hearing Xu Si's words, the female student punched a hole about two meters in diameter in the first-floor wall.
The survivors, with nowhere else to run, finally had a chance to escape.
The towering man swelled up like a concrete wall, blocking the bizarre flower-faced spider falling from the second floor, and at the same time, he actually grabbed the one at the front and crashed out of the mall.
Xu Si practically tumbled and crawled as he followed the crowd out of the hole, the bleak light outside stinging his eyes.
He gripped the "Blade of Judgment" tightly, his palms sweating profusely. His small knife seemed like a mere leg hair in the face of that enormous, bizarre creature.
"Retreat towards the convoy!" the towering man roared, slamming the spider to the ground with his concrete-like fists, which rained down with a dull thud.
But the spider only let out a strange "hee-hee" laugh, its slender limbs flailing wildly, leaving white marks on the man's body.
The student was in a worse situation. She single-handedly blocked another monster chasing out from the main gate. Her school uniform was almost torn to shreds, and her exposed skin was covered in bloodstains. Her movements had obviously slowed down.
"Help me! Don't just stand there!" a motorcyclist yelled at Xu Si, then jumped on his bike, started the engine, and sped away.
Xu Si gritted his teeth. He knew his own limitations; going up there would most likely be suicide.
But looking at the schoolgirl's swaying figure, and remembering that if it weren't for her and the towering man, he would have been torn to pieces long ago...
"Damn it!" he cursed under his breath, throwing the machete in his hand toward the leaf-shaped eyes on the strange face that was being suppressed by the towering man.
Don't ask, it's just a matter of experience.
Eye-poking and groin-grabbing are the best choices for dogfighting.
The large cleaver struck the eerie eye squarely, and the creature immediately stopped chuckling and let out a piercing scream.
The tough guy never expected that the seemingly ordinary cold weapon in this kid's hand could actually harm the strange creature.
He then punched Xu Si's large cleaver directly into the eerie eye.
The large cleaver pierced through the hilt.

The enormous ghost-faced spider instantly went still, and then, as if shaking off a sack of flour, it turned into thick fog and disappeared beneath the iron-towered man.
Xu Si's large cleaver fell directly to the ground, and it seemed to still be wearing something on it.
The female student who was supposed to "help" was clearly unable to hold on any longer.
"Go!" Xu Si's machete was thrown back by the burly man, and then he turned around to support the schoolgirl.
Xu Si didn't delay. He didn't think he would have a second chance. Staying would only be a burden, and it was unknown whether these two would save him again.
He had done everything he could to be kind and righteous.
Without the slightest delay, he turned the electric scooter all the way up and sped towards the town gate.
