Chapter 35: Welcome to the Game Arena
Chapter 35: Welcome to the Game Arena
"Is someone outside?"
Zhang Peng was filled with doubt and surprise.
Out of caution, he did not open the door immediately, but carefully reached the window and peeked through it at the person knocking.
Outside the wooden house, a gaunt figure stood like a wooden stake at the door. The figure's face was obscured, and its skin was covered in large patches of ulcerated flesh, as if burned. Its arms, like those of an old, rusty machine, kept knocking on the door.
"Thump..."
"Knock knock..."
Zhang Peng gasped.
He couldn't reconcile the person in front of him with the staff of the haunted house.
More importantly...
Didn't the trio tell him beforehand that there were only three NPC monsters in the haunted house: a little bear, Bald Qiang, and a female ghost in red?
The bear is huge, Bald Qiang is short and has a deformed head, and the red-clothed female ghost is even worse; she's just a floating special effects ghost. Even if she were played by a real person, she would definitely be wearing a red cheongsam.
But the figure in front of him didn't belong to any of those categories.
Instead, he seemed more like... the male owner of the Fu'an Apartment who was burned to death by him.
Just as Zhang Peng swallowed hard, his heart pounding, he suddenly noticed a prying gaze coming from the courtyard.
In the courtyard, there were two other thin figures, one tall and one short, whose skin also showed large patches of ulceration, as if burned, making their faces unrecognizable.
Two more have appeared?
Startled, Zhang Peng quickly took two steps back and moved away from the window.
This scene was somewhat beyond his expectations.
How could new monsters suddenly appear in a haunted house?
The trio didn't know Zhang Peng, so there was no need for them to lie to him. In other words, these three were not staff members or special effects NPCs provided by the haunted house.
If it's not part of the haunted house itself, then it can only be...
"No, impossible! How could there be ghosts in the world?"
"If ghosts really exist, why didn't they come after me a few years ago, but now they've suddenly appeared? That's ridiculous!"
"Hallucinations, all of them are illusions."

Zhang Peng was talking to himself in a somewhat self-hypnotic way, but the sweat pouring down his body betrayed him; he was terrified.
If he encountered the owner of a haunted house, or even a policeman, he wouldn't back down at all. But when faced with this kind of supernatural force, even the vicious Zhang Peng would find it hard not to be afraid.
"Thump..."
"Knock knock..."
The knocking continued to echo inside the cabin.
Zhang Peng slowly moved towards the bedroom, which had a window—the same window the little bear used to sneak into when he went to Bald Qiang's house to steal food in the TV show.
He wanted to escape from there.
The window is on the kang (a heated brick bed).
Zhang Peng first peered through the window to look behind the yard. Seeing no gaunt figure, he felt slightly relieved and prepared to step out the window.
However, he had just climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed).
He curled up in a ball under the covers on the kang (a heated brick bed).
Zhang Peng was stunned.
It seems like there's something hidden in this bed?
He dared not think any further, looked away, stepped over the covers, and prepared to escape through the window.
The upper body crawled out.
The lower body slowly began to wriggle outwards.
"Um?"
Suddenly a chill ran through me.
It felt as if a hand had grabbed Zhang Peng's ankle. Zhang Peng's expression changed drastically, and he frantically tried to squeeze out of the window.
It doesn't matter what's grabbing his foot.
He doesn't want to face it.
He just wanted to get out of this awful place as quickly as possible.
"The window... is it shrinking?"
"It hurts...it hurts so much!"
Zhang Peng made a horrifying discovery.
The windows of the wooden house were shrinking.
At first, he thought it was his imagination, but when he tried to crawl out, he found that his lower body was completely stuck.
Not only was it stuck, but it was also compressing at an extremely fast speed, like a whale biting his belly, trying to swallow him whole.
The house eats people?
Who would believe it if I told them!
"Wait...wait...no!!"
Zhang Peng could no longer control himself and screamed.
He couldn't see what was happening in the bedroom.
But he heard the door creak open.
Something entered the bedroom, grabbed his leg, and dragged him forcefully into the bedroom.
There were many hands, a great many, with strength that seemed beyond human capabilities, gripping his feet tightly.
The window was still closing, squeezing his abdomen.
Blood circulation began to stop; if this continued, Zhang Peng would be cut in half at the waist.
In a state of blurred consciousness.
Zhang Peng vaguely saw a strange man appear among the crows. The crows seemed to be his guardian deities, or a sign of his arrival, watching him with a condescending and mocking attitude.
"Welcome to the game field."
In my memory, only this one sentence remains.
Zhang Peng's internal organs were severed.
Die on the spot.
……
……
Zhang Peng opened his eyes.
He was born in a tree hollow.
The tree hollow was quiet and still. Zhang Peng held his head, unable to recall what he had done before entering the hollow, no matter how hard he tried.
He lost his memory.
But when he touched the dagger he carried at his waist, Zhang Peng seemed to vaguely remember something.
He seems to have come to kill someone.
Who is he going to kill?
No... my head hurts too much... I can't remember anything at all.
"What the hell is this place?"
"How did I get in...?"
Zhang Peng held his head, one hand gripping a dagger for a meager sense of security, while the other hand touched the uneven tree roots, carving some words with a knife.
Let's take a closer look.
"I am Zhang Peng. By the time you see this, I will already be dead."
"I am you from the future. You are trapped in this place, which is a haunted house and a terrifying cage. You must escape, or you will be killed by the ghosts."
"Run!! Run!!"
"quick!!"
Zhang Peng looked completely bewildered.
Is this message written by someone from the future? But if he really died, how could he have inscribed these words to remind himself in the present?
"Gah!"
Suddenly, a strange crow cawed from the forest.
Following the sound, Zhang Peng walked out of the tree hollow and saw a pine tree crashing down in the forest, accompanied by the roar of a chainsaw and the howl of some kind of bear. There were people fighting in the middle of the forest.
The crows in the woods were startled and flew away in all directions.
Zhang Peng hadn't reacted yet.
The crows that flew away then gathered into a red shadow.
The shadow gradually became clearer, and a woman with extremely disproportionate body shape appeared in front of him. Her neck was three or four times longer than that of an ordinary person, and her eyes were completely black, with no whites visible.
What the hell is that monster?!
Zhang Peng instinctively wanted to run away.
However, the woman was faster; the crow quickly swarmed around Zhang Peng and frantically pecked at his skin.
The bird's beak is like a sharp knife.
Each bite tore off a bloody chunk of meat.
"ah!!!"
Zhang Peng screamed hysterically.
The woman approached him, tilted her head slightly, like a bird sizing up its prey, and then pressed her severed hands against Zhang Peng's neck.
"Snap!"
A crisp sound.
