Chapter 6 The Cabin in the Woods
Chapter 6 The Cabin in the Woods
The conversation was interrupted before it was over, resulting in some information not being shared.
It seems the next challenge is to try and kill a monster.
Li Yuan made up his mind that if there were any extra rewards, he would definitely take them; relying solely on opening treasure chests would limit his development.
Li Yuan thought of the mushrooms he had picked. He decided it would be best to explore the entire area, as there might be supplies that weren't in the treasure chests.
To become stronger without limits, you need to explore, slay monsters, and collect treasure chests!
Li Yuan felt he had discovered the correct way to play the survival game in a bizarre world.
The types of supplies in the treasure chests are generally fixed: food, spirit stones, and exorcism items.
At least the treasure chests opened by the Crimson Lotus Demon Sealer are the same as mine, maybe with more or less, but generally the same.
Exploration can uncover supplies not found in treasure chests. These supplies may not be as good as those in treasure chests, but they will definitely be more varied. If you happen to stumble upon a town, you'll find bedding, pots and pans, and other daily necessities.
It's unclear what rewards killing the monsters will give, but the fact that the Crimson Lotus Demon Seal Envoy isn't in a hurry to buy exorcism items suggests they might be a good choice.
After thinking it over, Li Yuan was somewhat impressed with his own intelligence. If he had just foolishly taken the treasure chest and run away, his development would definitely have been limited.
Li Yuan figured everything out, smugly enjoyed himself for a while, and then exited the trading center and opened the chat channel.
Li Yuan wanted to see if the Red Lotus Demon Envoy was still discussing what had just happened, but when he opened the window, he found that the argument was still going on.
They're already hurling insults randomly.
Li Yuan had no choice but to leave the chat channel and looked out of the car out of boredom. He could chat with the Red Lotus Demon Envoy privately, but he didn't really want to chat with someone with a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome). Anyway, the next strange place would be enough to verify his guess.
He likes to look out the window whenever he's in a car, partly to enjoy the scenery and partly to get a sense of being on the road.
Li Yuan glanced at it twice before looking away, his expression turning solemn and no longer pleased with himself.
The vehicle was driving through a mountain forest. The scenery of nature is the most beautiful, but the mountain forest was very eerie at this moment.
The weather was fine and the visibility was excellent, but Li Yuan couldn't see anything except for some trees on the outermost edge.
The forest was pitch black, and even the midday sun couldn't penetrate it.
Upon closer inspection, it was even more terrifying; the darkness seemed to be writhing, as if a huge, hidden monster was twisting its body.
Li Yuan dared not look any further; if he attracted the attention of some monster, he would be finished. This was not a normal world.
Li Yuan sat upright for a while, and only relaxed slightly after finding nothing amiss. This world is full of strange occurrences! He couldn't let his guard down!
. . . . . .
. . . . . .
The vehicle traveled through the mountains and forests at a constant speed of 100 km/h.
Li Yuan couldn't help but exclaim in admiration, "Autonomous driving is really great!"
The mountain roads are not straight; they are winding, with ups and downs, and sometimes wide and sometimes narrow, including cliff roads. This car didn't slow down at all!
Several times when I saw Li Yuan, I was terrified. I thought it was so frustrating that he died in a car accident instead of being killed by some strange force.
But no, even experienced drivers would admire this driving skill!
Li Yuan was frightened a few times, but he got used to it.
At noon, Li Yuan opened a bag of compressed biscuits and started eating.
The vehicle slowed down while we were eating.
Li Yuan was stunned for a moment, then stuffed the compressed biscuits into his mouth in a few bites, gulped down two mouthfuls of water, and looked out of the car.
The vehicle slowly drove into the depths of the mountains and stopped in a quiet clearing.
Ancient trees towered all around, their branches intertwined, seemingly isolating the hustle and bustle of the world. In the center of the open space stood a dilapidated wooden house, its mottled planks weathered by time, turning a deep, inky black, as if soaked by wind and rain. The roof was crooked, the eaves broken, as if a slightly stronger gust of wind could knock it down completely.
The door was half-closed, and not a ray of light shone through the crack. The inside was pitch black, like a silent mouth that swallowed all sound and breath.
Outside the door, layers of withered leaves covered the ground, and weeds grew rampant, entwining the foundation of the house.
Dilapidated wooden cabins in the mountains are a common scene in horror movies.
The Bagua formation stopped at: Dui
The Gate of Shock.
The Gate of Shock: Its element is metal, and it is considered inauspicious, representing fear, trauma, litigation, and danger.
It seems more dangerous than the Black Forest.
Li Yuan took the money sword, while Zhu Sha and Black Dog Blood got out of the carriage.
As soon as Li Yuan got out of the car, he felt that eerie silence again. There was no sound at all, not even the chirping of insects, birds, or the sound of footsteps on the leaves.
Li Yuan didn't know whether he couldn't hear these sounds for some reason, or if they really didn't exist.
If it's the latter, then we're in trouble. Sound is a very important factor; without sound, the enemy can approach silently.
Imagine what would happen if you couldn't hear the enemy's footsteps while playing a shooting game.
However, it's more likely the former, because there's some strange presence that restricts the ability to hear these subtle sounds. Perhaps it will be fine once one's abilities improve.
Li Yuan cautiously walked towards the wooden house. This scene always reminded him of the cabin in the woods. However, if it was a monster of the same level as the cabin in the woods, he wouldn't get off the vehicle even if he had ten lives.
Li Yuan, holding a coin sword and with cinnabar and black dog blood hanging from his waist, cautiously looked around as he entered the wooden house.
The wooden steps creaked as soon as Li Yuan stepped onto them, as if they were about to break. He immediately slowed his pace, not wanting to sink into the wooden planks and get his foot stuck. It would be very bad if he were ambushed by a strange creature.
Li Yuan pushed open the half-closed door and stood in the doorway, looking around the room.
Li Yuan pushed the door open with his toes, his coin sword ready to strike at any moment, fearing that he would be ambushed if the door opened.
Looking at the dark and gloomy environment inside the wooden house, Li Yuan became even more wary.
The door opened, bringing a little more light into the cabin, but visibility remained very low. Standing at the door, one could only see the living room; the other rooms were completely obscured, just like the dark corridors in a horror movie.
Li Yuan held his breath and slowly stepped into the room. As soon as his feet touched the ground, a chill ran up his spine like a venomous snake.
The feeling was exactly the same as when I first stepped into the Black Forest, but even more chilling. It was as if I hadn't walked into a house, but had been pushed into a morgue freezer. The walls were eerie, the cold air condensed into frost, and even my breath froze instantly.
Moreover, the oppressive cold lingered for a long time.
Li Yuan cursed inwardly, thinking that this strange place was truly a good place to escape the summer heat!
If only Earth were this cool.
At the same time, a strong, unbearable musty and rotten smell assaulted Li Yuan's nostrils, and he couldn't help but rub his nose.
I wanted to complain, but considering the situation, I didn't continue cursing.
Li Yuan looked around the room.
The living room is very simply furnished, with everything laid out at a glance. The only places to hide things are under the coffee table and behind the sofa.
Li Yuan began searching, constantly wary of being suddenly attacked by a ghost. He wondered if a ghost with bloody tears would pounce on him while he was flipping the coffee table, or if a blue ghostly hand hidden under the sofa would grab his ankle as he passed by.
But Li Yuan searched the entire room and found nothing unusual.
Li Yuan was somewhat puzzled. When survivors entered the range of the ghost's activity, the ghost could launch an attack at any time. The hanging ghost attacked him in the depths of the black forest in this way.
The cabin wasn't very big; it couldn't possibly be just one room that was the ghost's activity area—that would be too small.
Given Gui's ruthlessness, it's impossible he didn't take action; is it because he hasn't found the treasure chest yet?
No.
The Crimson Lotus Demon Seal Envoy was not found, and was still attacked by a strange force.
Sometimes the absence of anything unusual is the biggest anomaly, let alone in a cabin that is definitely haunted.
Li Yuan became even more vigilant upon realizing this.
Finding no treasure chest under the coffee table or behind the sofa, Li Yuan walked into the inner room.
When I got to the door, I found it was a bathroom, and there was even a bathtub inside.
