58. How much do you know about her?
"No, what?" She scoffed. "I wasn't trying to seduce you." She blushed.
"Should I just shut the door?" He asked.
"Why?" She widened her eyes.
"So that we can finish from where you stopped, I know you want me. You don't have to pretend about that." He stared flirtatiously at her.
"No, Darian." She backed away from him.
He sipped some water and rose to his feet, walking toward her. "Too bad our first time will be in the office, but I don't mind since you want me so bad."
"No, no," Lena ran around the office. "I don't want you."
"You just hurt me by saying you don't want me." He touched his chest, feigning hurt.
"Darian!" She yelled, frustrated. "Stop this game." The gloomy expression on his face made her laugh.
Darian caught her. He planted kisses on her forehead. He pulled her into a hug and rocked her hair. He was still relishing her warmth when the door to his office flew open.
Jay walked in on them embracing each other, Lena pulled out of the hug.
Jay grinned, bowing his head to acknowledge Lena's presence.
"Jay, is there a message for me?" Darian asked, not letting go of Lena. He held her hand firmly in his. His eyes went to Jay who had an amused smile dancing on his lips.
"Gaius wants you to see him at the family house, it's urgent," Jay informed him.
"Yeah, we were supposed to meet up today," Darian said. "Drop Lena at the casino, call Dickson and Harrison to go over and watch her, okay?"
"Yes, boss." Jay bowed his head in deference.
"Take good care of yourself and thanks for the food." He kissed her forehead, letting her go.
He had to meet with Gaius for the planning of the next sit-up. Some matters needed urgent intervention.
Jay left the office with Lena, while Darian made some arrangements with his manager before he left for the Dawson family house.

A few hours later, he arrived at the family house. He halted at the quarters of the scoundrels who attacked them at the anniversary party. They were kept in a neat room and they looked healthier than the last time he saw them.
He stood at the entrance to the room they were locked in and watched as they conversed with one another.
One of them cracked a joke and they laughed at it. Darian smiled, it was nice to watch them laughing.
One of them who identified himself as Chris sighted Darian, he signaled to others to stop talking.
They all bowed their heads to greet him. Darian waved them at them, he wondered why they refused to confess even after they showed respect to him. He was hopeful about them, he stopped torturing them and kept them in the family house, hoping someday they would change their minds and speak up.
He left them, asking a few questions from the soldiers who were in charge of watching over them. After he got the answers he wanted, he patted the soldier that was the closest to him and made to leave.
"Sir," Chris called out to Darian.
All eyes turned to him, the soldier tried to stop him but Darian ordered that they let him be.
"I want to talk to you about something important if you are willing to listen," Chris said again, his eyes on the floor as he spoke.
"Come with me," Darian said as he walked out of the hallway.
Chris followed behind, the soldiers kept their eyes on Darian and Chris as they stood in a corner of the hallway to talk.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" He asked, wishing he'd finally want to confess. "Did you change your mind? Have you decided to confess now?"
"Boss," Chris bowed his head. "You are a good man. You spared our lives even after you got to know that we were after you. No one would do that."
"The only way you can pay me back is to confess, tell me about the people who sent you." Darian tried to lure him. "I will change your life and make sure you are safe out there."
"You can't guarantee our safety out there. They will come for us and kill us if they know we are still alive." Chris heaved a sigh. "I don't know who those people are. I do not know them." He was honest with Darian, but the look on Darian's face didn't show that he believed his words.
"Why did you stop me?" He asked, annoyed.
"I once heard them talk about your mother," he smiled. “The mother of the Dawson’s family don.”
"My mother?" The shock was written all over Darian's face. His forehead creased in worry. His mother? He didn't expect that. "Who is my mother?" He asked, shooting a glare at Chris.
"Your mother, she used to serve at the casino before she got pregnant with you. I heard them talk about her before, but I didn't pay attention to them." Chris continued.
Darian paced the hallway impatiently. "What the fuck do you know about her?" he gripped the collar of Chris's shirt, almost strangling him. "How much do you know about her?"
"I don't know too much about her. But I just feel it's better that I tell you that your mother is not dead. She’s alive. I heard them."
Darian let go of Chris, breathing hard, his shoulder sagged, his knees grew weak and he shook his head.
“You shouldn't have told me! Did she send you to attack us? What kind of a person is she?" He yelled, all the soldiers that surrounded the hallway cocked their guns. Darian ordered them to lower their guns.
"I don't know. I just heard them talk about her, the only thing I heard was that she's alive." Chris bowed his head and walked out of Darian with swift gaits.
Darian punched the wall, blood gushing out of his knuckles.
He didn't want to accept the fact that his mother was alive. After all these years of neglecting him, he wasn't ready to include thoughts of her in his mind yet, not just now.
He sighed, confusion taking over his mind.
