Wedded To The Ruthless Mafia Boss

WE KILL IN THE MAFIA

WE KILL IN THE MAFIA

Dropping the cutleries on the plate, she smiled. "I know a few things about them but I have never had a close relationship with them until now. My mother is late, and my father is Gavin Johnson. He used to be a high school teacher before he got fired from work." She responded.

Darian watched her. He didn’t know about her father and honestly didn’t care to know but that information was also something he could hold onto.

Gaius bobbed his head. He loved how simple and well cultured Lena was.

"Do you have any relationship with the cops?" His eyes were still on her.

"I made my findings and made sure she's the right choice for me, Gaius." Darian was tired of the unending questions. He was getting impatient. "She doesn't have any relationship with the cops. If that's all, we would like to take our leave now. I just brought her here to show you all." He pushed the plate in front of him to the side and looked over at Lena.

"Darian, I must say again that you made a good choice. Treat her well." Gaius said for the last time.

"Thank you, I will do just that. Are you ready to leave?" He faced Lena, who was still struggling with her meal.

She would have loved to stay a little longer but the cold look on Darian's face made her shiver. She feared he would leave her alone and go home.

She preferred the family house to their own house.

"Sure," she stood up and was met with Talia who kissed her cheeks and gave her a gift before leaving. Lena hugged her tightly and left the house with Darian after saying their final goodbye.

Darian drove out of the garage, hitting the busy road. None of his bodyguards went with him and Lena wondered why since he always had them around him.

When he said nothing to her, she took interest in feeding her eyes with the mesmerizing sight of the tiled street floor. She wanted to ask about the mafia stuff she just got to know about him but she feared he would ignore her questions.

His eyes were intently fixed on the road, and he didn't seem like he wanted to have a conversation with her. She wasn't sure how long she could keep up if he continued to have the cold and emotionless expression on his face.

After giving it a long thought, she decided to talk to him.

“I didn't know you were a member of the mafia.” He said nothing but she pushed forward. “Why didn’t you tell me so that I can prepare myself for what I am about to get into? I never planned to marry someone from the mafia.”

He tightened his hands around the steering wheel, and the car moved at an even higher speed. Lena mashed her lips together and wondered if she had done the wrong thing by asking him that question, but either way, she needed to know.

“Like you had a choice.” His response was curt and harsh.

Lena shot him a hard glare, letting the emotion slide off. He was correct. There was nothing she could have done if she had known Darian was a member of a mafia.

“What do you do in the mafia? I need to know.”

He took a rough turn, sending her to lose balance off the car-seat. At that moment, she realized she had forgotten to use the seatbelt. Buckling it in, she sighed, shaking her head at the trouble she had gotten herself into.

"We kill people who don't mind their business.” He responded again, his eyes stern, void of emotions that she could attach to his words. "Killing is what we do. Learn to mind your business to avoid being a victim.” His eyes rested on her for some seconds before peeling them away from her and focusing back on the road.

Lena was mesmerized by how he could control the car even without looking at the road.

"You mean you just kill people?" She asked again.

Darian was getting tired from answering her questions. He didn't always talk much, and he wasn't careful with the few words he spat.

"I just told you what we do."

"There are no other businesses?" She asked with curiosity, she just wanted to know her husband more, and nothing more.

"Why do I feel you are an informant sent to know more about me?" He gazed down at her.

Lena felt a pulse in her heart, she swallowed hard and stared away from him.

"You married me! I didn't even know you before you asked for my hand in marriage. So, what are you talking about?" She glared at him, but it was a wasteful one, he didn't glimpse her facial expression as she spoke to him.

"As a repayment of your father's huge debt." he reminded her.

"Was that why you married me?" She was disappointed he still had that notion of her but what was she expecting anyway?

"Why else would I marry you, lady?" He turned to her, but she instantly abated his gaze before it rested on her.

"Did you marry me because my father owes you or your family wanted you to get married because you need to mount the position of a don, capo, or whatever and you need heirs?" Scoffing, she didn’t know what to believe anymore.

"Watch your tongue. You don't speak about the Dawson family in such manner." He voiced out in a warning tone. "I will drop you off at home, and go to work. I have a lot to attend to, today.” He let out a weary sigh.

Lena looked at him, she didn't understand a thing about the man she married.

"You work too?" She had made a promise not to talk to him till he apologized for declaring he married her as a repayment for her father's debt, but her inquisitive nature would always fail her. She wanted to know everything possible.

"Yes, I do.” He arrived in front of his mansion, and blasted the honk.

When the gate opened widely into two, he sped into the garage and parked the car.

"You should get down now and go take a rest. Let me know if you need anything." His voice was soft now.

Lena was confused again. Sometimes she wondered if he was bipolar. He was mean to her one minute, and the next minute he was acting all nice.

"I don't need anything and will need nothing from you." She said with a scowl on her face. "I know that you married me because my father owes you some money, but you don't always have to throw it at my face like that. We are all humans, and some of us are not as hard-heartened as you are. We have feelings. Some words hurt us too." She told him what was on her mind, she always did that.

She got out of the car and walked back into the house. She walked slowly with the expectations that Darian will get out of the car, and probably mutter some words of apology to her.

To her chagrin, he got out of the car and changed into another red sports car after giving the car keys to Jay. He whispered some words to him before driving off.

Lena stared at the car as it left the house, and her heart sank. What was she expecting? That he would beg her? She scoffed and walked into the house. She should have known that Darian was an arrogant man, and he would never apologize to anyone. She was disappointed but there was nothing she could do.

Her phone beeped, and it was a reminder from Mayfield High School. She was to resume work on Monday.

She smiled, working would make her occupied, and she wouldn't have to see Darian's face most of the time since he was always busy in his study whenever he was at home, and if she went to work, she would only see him at nights whenever he came to bed.

Her mind drifted to the dirty thoughts of why he never consummated their marriage or made any move to touch her.

"Good for him and good for her." She wasn’t ready and grateful that he didn’t roughly demand her on their wedding night.
