Chapter 30, Rank A Mission
Chapter 30, Rank A Mission
[Ding! Naruto's emotional value +999!]
[Ding! Sasuke's emotional value +999!]
In Area A, or rather, in the lobby where A-level missions are issued, Sasuke and Naruto instantly broke out in a cold sweat.
Naruto couldn't understand why the Third Hokage, who had seemed so kind and approachable in the past, was now putting so much pressure on him.
But before Naruto could even finish his questioning, he was left wondering.
At the front of everyone, on the long white table, the Third Hokage suddenly smiled, revealing the gentle smile that Naruto remembered.
Instantly, all the pressure from before vanished without a trace, as if all the pressure they had suffered was an illusion!
"Hey, isn't this Naruto and Sasuke? What are you doing here?"
Looking at Akali and the others, the Third Hokage smiled and spoke, concealing the doubt in his eyes.
He was indeed a little puzzled as to why such a strange combination as Naruto, Sasuke, and Akali would appear in the mission lobby where missions are accepted/issued.
I was just away from Naruto for a little half a day, how did I manage to get him into this mess?
"This..." Naruto and Sasuke couldn't answer the Third Hokage's question, and could only turn to look at Akali standing between them.
In fact, they were only just realizing where they were.
Akali was supposed to help them get stronger, so why did she bring them to the mission lobby?
Noticing Naruto and Sasuke's gaze, the Third Hokage took a puff of his pipe, the wisps of white smoke naturally escaping from his mouth concealing the glint in his eyes.
"So that's how it is. Akali brought them here, and it seems they didn't even know why they were brought here."
"And among the three, Akali is actually in control!"
[Ding! Emotional value from the third generation +999!]
The three generations were surprised.
After all, it would be easier to recruit either Naruto or Sasuke.
But it's a bit difficult to subdue both of them and make them obedient and not fight each other.
"call--"
The third generation took another puff of their cigarette, raising their opinion of Akali once again.
Only then did he seem to realize what was happening and look at Akali in the middle of the three.
"And you, your name is Akali, right? Look at my memory, I'm getting old, I have to recognize young kids!"
"Akali, you've come with Naruto and Sasuke. Is there something you want to discuss with this old man?"
“Yes!” Akali approached the Third Hokage with neither arrogance nor servility.
"Lord Hokage, we've come to the mission hall to issue missions, and that's exactly what we're here for!"
"Oh?" The Third Hokage paused after hearing Akali's words.
This time, he was genuinely puzzled.
Receiving missions is a function of the Hokage Building, but it has little to do with him as the Hokage.
After all, those complicated CD-level missions couldn't possibly require approval from the Hokage, could they?
As the Third Hokage, he was specifically responsible for reviewing A-rank and even S-rank missions, and this hall existed for that purpose.
Akali, who brought the two of them, couldn't possibly be unaware of this.
But even knowing this, she still came to this hall to issue the mission...
[Ding! Emotional value from the third generation +999!]
"Are you going to issue an A-rank mission, Akali?!"
The third generation asked in surprise.
As the third generation spoke, a small commotion arose in the A-level mission hall.
It's no wonder everyone was shocked, because it sounded like a complete fantasy.
What is an A-level task?
By definition, an A-rank mission is one that relates to the developments of a village or country, such as participating in a war at the invitation of another country, protecting important figures, or defeating ninja forces.
But Akali, Naruto, Sasuke, and the others have never even left the village, so why would they need protection? Or a ninja squad to subdue them?
And there's one last question.
"This place only accepts A-rank missions. Where did you three, who haven't even graduated from the ninja academy, get the money?"
"Kids, do you really know where you are?"
A young Jonin standing next to the Third Hokage couldn't help but speak up.
"This is not a place for playing house!"
As he spoke, an aura of blood and fire emanated from the Jonin, amplifying the authority of his words.
Faced with the aura released by several ninja academy students, this Jonin had clearly gone too far, but the others made no move.
Clearly, they agreed with his words.
Akali remained unfazed even in the face of Kakashi's imposing aura, so what was a mere extra Jonin compared to her?
So Akali wasn't afraid at all; instead, she frowned and glanced at the Jonin.
Akali then looked at the third generation:
"I haven't posted any quests in the village yet, but is this how the village treats the patron who posts quests?"
"Judging by appearance, arrogant and conceited... Lord Hokage, if he can act like this even when you are here, I can't even imagine what he can do when you are not here!"
“I’m worried about the future of the village!” Akali said, looking concerned.
With a mask covering most of her face, revealing only her eyes, Akali's acting, if not flawless, is certainly impeccable.
Thanks to her superior equipment, Akali in the third generation couldn't detect any trace of acting.
However, after Akali said those words under pressure, whether she was acting or not became irrelevant.
"Knock knock!" The Third Hokage tapped his cigarette ash and said in a low voice, "Shibata, you've been rude!"
“Akali’s words make sense. You can treat village children like this today, but what will you do when important guests come in the future?”
"Shibata, it seems you're not suited for this job. Go back to the Anbu and train for a while longer!"
"Yes, I'm very sorry, Hokage-sama!"
The Jonin named Shibata lowered his head, his face ashen. The Third Hokage's words had effectively sealed his fate.
[Ding! Shibata's mood points +999!]
However, by this time no one cared about Shibata, a loser.
Looking at Akali, the Third Hokage smiled gently: "Alright, now let's talk about you two!"
"Akali, what kind of A-rank mission would you like to issue?"
Akali finally revealed her purpose: "I'm issuing a mission targeting Might Guy, a Jonin, and his Team 2!"
"The mission will last for one month. The mission content is—training, and sparring!"
"And the targets are the three of us! The reward for the mission is nine hundred thousand taels of silver!"
Akali gestured to herself, Naruto, and Sasuke.
"Oh? I see!"
At this point, the Third Generation finally understood Akali's purpose: she was preparing for the assessment a month later.
As for the money, it should have been Sasuke who provided it.
Nine hundred thousand is an absolute big spender; adding another hundred thousand could even launch an S-level mission.
Since Akali is offering so much money, the third generation has no reason to disagree.
