Chapter 88: Arrival, Sands Hidden with Danger
Quack quack quack!!
A flock of seagulls flew from the sea toward an island, but as they approached the island, they cried out a few times and quickly changed their flight direction.
As nature awakens at dawn, the overnight dew would normally leave everything glistening with moisture. However, this island is quite different; the very air carries the arid scent of sand.
This is Saint Tin Island, where the Kingdom of Alabasta is located. Most of the island is covered by yellow sand, and apart from the capital Arubana, it has been rainless on this island for three years.
The vast island was filled with yellow sand.
Rainfield, one of the most important towns in the Kingdom of Alabasta, boasts a tall and magnificent building containing a uniquely decorated house.
Bru bru...
A Den Den Mushi (snail phone) is on a table in the room, making a rapid sound.

The call was answered by a pair of large hands.
"Sha Crocodile!"
A deep voice came from the Den Den Mushi.
"Hmph, disturbing my peaceful sleep so early in the morning! Unless it's something extremely important, I'll be very angry, Five Elders!"
Seated in a chair was a man named Shah Crocodile, with slicked-back hair, a long horizontal scar on his face, an earring in his right ear, a cigar in his mouth, a gold hook in his left hand, and a black fur coat over a yellow square-patterned shirt.
At this moment, a look of anger appeared on Crocodile's face. He hated getting calls from his boss so early in the morning.
"Damn it, how dare a mere Shichibukai speak to us like that? Don't forget who you are!"
The voice on the Den Den Mushi was clearly different; compared to the previous deep voice, this one sounded much harsher.
"Hahaha! Hurry up and tell me, Five Elders, which blind pirate needs you to contact me this time?"
Crocodile showed no reaction to the voice coming from the phone; his expression remained calm and indifferent.
"Sar Crocodile, a group of pirates will be arriving in the Alabasta Kingdom soon. Their captain is named Mu Chong. We don't care what methods you use, just find out their strength and report back to us!"
A deep voice came through the Den Den Mushi again, this time stating the purpose of the call directly.
"Oh? A pirate? What kind of pirate would make you take the initiative to contact a Shichibukai?"
A hint of curiosity appeared on Crocodile's previously indifferent face.
"Just do your job, Crocodile. Don't worry about anything else. Remember, this is just a test!"
Another, different voice came through the phone, this one filled with anger, clearly dissatisfied with Crocodile's attitude.
"Hahaha! Just a test? Pirate ship captain Mu Chong? Interesting! Interesting!"
Crocodile stared at the Den Den Mushi on the table and chairs, the phone already disconnected, muttering to himself, a glint of anticipation in his eyes.
……
Around noon, the Freedom finally docked at the port of the island where the Kingdom of Alabasta was located. Because the island was covered by yellow sand all year round, the port where the Freedom docked had been in disrepair for a long time and looked dilapidated.
The group of five, along with a large cat, all dressed in matching white robes, and tall and handsome, were currently frowning as they looked at the island before them.
"Hey, navigator, what kind of port did you find? It feels like we've landed on a deserted island. Wasn't the Kingdom of Alabasta supposed to be a great power? Is this the port of a great power?"
As soon as he stepped off the Liberty, Enel, dressed in a white robe, began complaining about the port where they were docked and started teasing Slade.
"Shut up, boatman! This is my first time on this island too! Ugh! Speaking of which, why does the air on this island feel so incredibly dry?"
Slard glanced at Enel, then looked up at the sky and began to ponder.
"Meow!!!"
"Ah! It's normal to feel dry because most of this island is covered by desert. Let's go into the island and replenish our food supplies!"
Mu Chong tightened his white robe, choosing not to take it off mainly because the sun was too strong. After adjusting the white snake at his waist, he took the lead and walked into the swirling yellow sand.
"This awful weather... Slard, spread your clouds and make it all cool!"
Enel muttered a complaint about the sky, then turned to look at Slard, who was about to step forward, and suddenly said...
"what?"
"Ok?"
"Hahaha! Yeah! Yeah! Hey, Slade, hurry up, put a whole dark cloud overhead, this damn sun is too hot!"
Upon hearing Enel's words, Mu Chong, who was walking ahead, suddenly stopped and turned back to Slade, urgently saying...
“Nani???”
Slad stared at everyone in surprise, pointed to the sky, then to himself, his face filled with helplessness. He then slowly removed the sea stone from his arm.
As everyone watched expectantly, a small dark cloud drifted overhead.
"Wow! That feels so good, as expected of you, Slade! Hahaha!"
Mu Chong smiled with great satisfaction, gave Slad a thumbs-up, and then set off again.
White cat Mumu followed closely behind, then Baku and Aisha, while Enel lagged behind.
"Hey, Slade, make it rain some more, this damn weather is too dry..."
"Get out of here, you damned shipwright! You're the mine, go and deal with it yourself!"
Slard ignored Enel's wicked grin and sullenly followed Mu Chong and the others ahead.
Click!
"Tch, stingy! I'm wearing Seastone on me, aren't I? Hmm, by the way, are there any strong individuals on this island?"
Enel took a bite of the apple that appeared out of nowhere, muttered a complaint, and then strode after him with an arrogant air.
call!
The boundless desert, with a gust of wind whipping up clouds of yellow sand, made the already difficult path even more treacherous.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, everyone felt thirsty, and they had almost drunk all the water they had on them.
"What a vast desert!"
Aisha followed behind Mu Chong, one hand pressing down on her hat, and exclaimed in amazement as she looked at the desert before her.
"Meow!!!"
"Are there really any living people here, Captain?!"
Even Baku, who had been mostly silent, couldn't help but speak up.
"Ah! Yes, yes, wow! The original story didn't describe how big this island is, it's freaking huge!"
With his hat brim pressed down, Mu Chong walked forward, his head brushing against the yellow sand. Even the dark clouds overhead couldn't stop the sand grains flying all around him.
Whoosh whoosh! ! !
Rumble!!
Just then, a commotion coming from the distant desert caused everyone's expressions to freeze.
"Hey! After walking for most of the day, we've finally found one alive! That's really something!"
Seeing the constantly rising sandstorm, Mu Chong's eyes showed no surprise, but rather anticipation.
"Hey, who's going?"
Mu Chong turned and asked a question to those behind him. Just as everyone was eager to try, his next sentence immediately made Enel and Slade's faces turn bitter. Here we go again.
"Hahaha! I can't use my Devil Fruit powers!!"
boom!
As soon as Mu Chong finished speaking, Baku, who had been standing next to him, rushed out without saying a word, his speed was quite fast.
Enel and Slade, who hadn't had a chance to react, exchanged a glance, both seeing the "serves him right" message in each other's eyes.
"Hey, I'm warning you two, if Baku's Armament Haki ever surpasses yours, I'll let you taste the power of my loving iron fist. What? You'll die if you don't use your abilities?"
Seeing Baku rush out, Mu Chong immediately turned to look at Enel and Slade, his eyes filled with warning. These two were relying too much on their Devil Fruit abilities.
Just as Mu Chong was speaking, Baku's opponent emerged from beneath the desert.
It was a gigantic centipede, nearly ten meters long, its body covered in golden carapace that shimmered in the sunlight. A massive maw, baring sharp teeth, lunged at Baku.
Baku stood firmly in place, making no attempt to move, his eyes fixed on the charging giant centipede.
Roar!
Roar!
Two voices rang out simultaneously, and Baku's two arms were instantly enveloped in Armament Haki. Just as the centipede was about to bite him...
boom!
Baku suddenly crouched down, then his legs straightened out like rocket boosters, propelling him like a cannonball into the centipede's abdomen with a thud.
