Chapter 261: Dimensional Rift
Chapter 261: Dimensional Rift
The origin of the rift was revealed to the Guardians, a vast surge of energy distorting the very structure of the Fate Pivot. The flow of time around it was completely disrupted, past and future intertwined, and space was constantly being torn apart. The rift around the Fate Pivot appeared to be a scar within the universe, yet within its confines lay a colossal power beyond comprehension.
"The nature of the cracks is beyond our expectations," the observer said with unease. "This is not merely a collapse of the laws of the universe; it connects the timelines of all dimensions. These cracks are the core problem of the universe; they not only threaten the current universe but also affect the balance between dimensions."
“Dimensional rifts?” Lessa frowned, his gaze fixed on the ever-changing scenery around him. “You mean, these rifts aren’t just confined to one dimension of the universe; they’ve extended to other dimensions?”
“Yes,” the observer calmly replied, “these cracks are tearing apart the connections between all dimensions, centered on the pivot of fate. Once the balance between dimensions is completely broken, the universe will fall into an irreversible state of fragmentation.”
Kane raised his twin blades, staring at the irregular energy fluctuations. "So, we now need to not only repair the rift, but also stop it from spreading further into other dimensions. This is practically an unsolvable problem."
The Arbiter gripped his twin blades, his gaze cold and resolute. "No matter how difficult it may be, we must find the root cause of the spreading rift. Otherwise, neither we nor any life in the universe will perish in this collapse."
The Guardians decided to delve into the rifts of the pivot of destiny to explore the relationship between these fissures and dimensions. They knew that the existence of these rifts not only threatened the structure of the universe but could also become gateways to deeper truths.
As they approached the rift, the surrounding space began to fluctuate violently, and a strange energy surrounded them, as if trying to pull them into another dimension. The scene inside the rift constantly changed, sometimes a chaotic void, sometimes clear afterimages of a battlefield, and sometimes even glimpses of future scenarios that had never occurred.
“These cracks are not merely tears in space,” the observer warned. “They are more like intersections of time and space, leading to every possible dimension. They are a concentrated display of the multiple possibilities of fate at the same point.”
A scene suddenly flashed before Lysa's eyes—a battlefield she once knew well, but now filled with figures that shouldn't be there. She saw her fallen comrades reappear, and even glimpsed a future scene where a blurry figure emerged from a crack, holding some unknown weapon.
“What’s going on…” Lessa murmured, “Why are these cracks showing me things that don’t belong here?”
“These are fragments of time,” the observer explained. “They are not real, but illusions created by the energy interference of cracks and pivots of fate. Each scene is a projection of some possibility.”
“This is not an illusion,” Kane said softly, pointing to a crack in the distance. “There are living things moving there, and their behavior looks incredibly real.”
The guardians looked in the direction Kane had indicated, and sure enough, within an energy vortex of a rift, several blurry figures were moving. These life forms appeared to be products of the rift's energy, but they were not simply aggregates of energy; they possessed a certain intelligence.
“These life forms don’t look like incarnations of nothingness, nor like projections of time,” the Arbiter said warily. “They seem to actually exist.”
“They are products of the rifts,” the observer replied. “Or rather, they are special life forms born from the intersection of the rifts and dimensions. They are not true life forms, but they possess intelligence and are able to manipulate the energy of the rifts.”
The guardians attempted to approach these lifeforms, but they quickly became aware of their presence. The rifted lifeforms swiftly turned, causing the surrounding rift energy to vibrate violently. A powerful energy surge swept over them, instantly tearing apart the guardians' position.
"They're going to attack us!" Kane quickly raised his twin blades, blocking an energy blast.
“These life forms are protecting the rift,” the Arbiter said in a deep voice. “It seems their goal is to prevent us from getting close to the pivot of fate.”
"We cannot back down, no matter what!" Lysa shouted, brandishing her spear and charging straight at a life form. Her spear erupted with dazzling light, colliding head-on with the fissure energy released by the life form. The surrounding space instantly shattered, and the rules of time and space were completely disrupted in this area.
Kane and the Arbiters joined the battle, but they soon discovered that these beings were no ordinary enemies. They could manipulate the energy of the rifts, warping time and space into their own weapons, putting the Guardians on the defensive with every attack.
“Their energy fluctuations are too powerful; our attacks have limited effect on them,” Kane said, panting, cracks already appearing on his twin blades.
“They are derivatives of the rifts, and ordinary attacks are indeed ineffective in defeating them.” The observer’s voice carried a hint of urgency. “But their core remains attached to the Fate Pivot. As long as you can weaken the power of the Fate Pivot rift, these life forms will lose their fighting ability.”
Leisa gritted his teeth. "Then let's aim straight for the crack!"
The Guardians changed tactics, no longer engaging the lifeforms head-on, but instead focusing their efforts on attacking the core of the rift. Lysa and the Arbiter joined forces to cut a gap in the rift's energy field, while Kane used his double-bladed sword to inject the energy of the star map into the rift's center.
"Keep going!" Lysa shouted, her spear piercing a corner of the crack, and the flow of energy within it began to slow.
At the same time, the movements of the rift lifeforms gradually became sluggish. Their figures began to blur, as if they had lost the energy that sustained their existence.
"It's working!" Kane shouted excitedly. "They're retreating!"
The adjudicator remained vigilant: "Don't be careless; we must completely close the cracks to ensure they don't reappear."
With all his might, Lessa plunged his spear deep into the center of the rift. As the rift's energy was completely torn apart, the space around the Fate Pivot began to stabilize, and the rift's lifeform vanished into the void.
Although the rift has been temporarily repaired, the guardians know that this is only the beginning. During the repair process, they vaguely sensed a certain will from the depths of the rift, an indescribable power watching them from behind.
“There’s a bigger secret behind the cracks,” Lysa said softly, her eyes filled with deep worry. “We’ve only repaired the surface; the real threat is lurking deeper.”
The observer's voice rang out again: "Your repairs are effective, but the source of the rift has not disappeared. The pivot of fate remains in danger, and the effects of the rift may be far more complex than we imagined."
Kane's gaze was cold and resolute. "Whatever lies ahead, we must face it. The future of the universe is in our hands."
