Chapter 26 I don't believe it!
Chapter 26 I don't believe it!
Ron felt like he'd punched a cotton ball, and in desperation, he could only turn to Harry and complain.
"Hey, what's wrong with your friend? Is this the time to study?" Ron sat in his seat, shaking his head. "There'll be plenty of time to study once we get to school."
"Yang likes to read, there's nothing wrong with that." Harry grabbed a Bean of Flavor and popped it into his mouth, his expression immediately changing.
Ron curiously popped a flavored bean of the same color into his mouth, then grimaced and said, "It tastes like booger, how awful!"
The two ate snacks while chatting about their future school life.
"I've finally found you!" The girl pointed at Chu Yang excitedly, as if she had found a treasure she had been searching for!
Ron and Harry looked at Chu Yang with puzzled expressions.
The girl's voice was loud, startling Chu Yang from his reading. He pointed to himself, "Me?"
"Yes, it's you!" The girl plopped down next to Chu Yang and asked impatiently, "What magic did you use in the wand shop?"
Chu Yang said helplessly, "That wasn't magic. I just waved my wand as Mr. Ollivander instructed!"
The girl looked incredulous, then shook her head, saying, "Impossible! How could mere magic produce such a terrifying effect!"
"Then I don't know. I'm just a freshman, like you all," Chu Yang explained casually, then lowered his head to continue reading.
"Hey! Can you tell me what happened?!" Ron looked at the two of them with an itchy mouth, just like a gossipy old lady.
Harry looked equally curious.
So the girl told them everything that had happened at the wand shop.
After hearing this, Ron and Harry showed similar expressions to the girl, staring at Chu Yang in amazement.
"Oh right! I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Hermione Granger, you can just call me Hermione." Hermione introduced herself in a very natural and confident manner.
Ron and Harry were introducing themselves, but when it came to Chu Yang, there was no sound. Hermione turned around and found him reading a book with his head down.
"Here we go again!" Ron rolled his eyes speechlessly. "Dude, I'm serious, there's no point in you putting on this act for us. We're all classmates."
Harry tugged at Ron's sleeve and whispered, "Ron, don't say that..."
Ron chuckled in exasperation and retorted, "The way he flips through the book, does that look like he's studying properly?"
Harry hesitated for a moment.
He had never seen anyone read a book like Chu Yang.
Hermione stood beside Chu Yang, tilting her head to examine the book cover, and casually read, "《Practical Defense Against the Dark Arts》?"
"This book doesn't seem to be a first-year textbook." Hermione frowned slightly. She clearly remembered that the only textbook related to dark magic was called "Dark Power: A Guide to Self-Defense" (Defense Against the Dark Arts).
She had read that book thoroughly, and it was clearly not the same book that Chu Yang had!
A thought flashed through Hermione's mind in an instant.
This isn't a first-grade textbook; it's for upper grades!
Hermione snatched the book from Chu Yang's hand and began to read it carefully.
"Your behavior is really unpleasant, Miss Granger!" Chu Yang frowned and said, "Whether you are a wizard or an ordinary person, you should maintain the most basic manners."
Hermione stiffly handed the book back to Chu Yang, saying defiantly, "This book is much more profound and obscure than 'Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Defense.' Can you even understand it?"
Chu Yang said calmly, "As long as you finish reading 'Dark Power: Self-Defense Guide,' understanding this book won't be too difficult."
Hermione choked on her words, her face turning red from the roots of her ears to her neck!
As someone who had memorized "Dark Forces: Self-Defense Guide" perfectly, this sentence sounded to Hermione like Chu Yang was saying she was stupid!
Hermione shouted, "Being unbalanced in your studies is a very bad thing for a wizard! Studying only about dark magic won't help! What's more important is 'Theory of Magic,' that's the foundation!"
Hermione's loud voice gave Chu Yang a headache, so he impatiently recited the contents of the first page of "Theory of Magic" in an attempt to shut Hermione up.
Sure enough, Hermione stopped talking abruptly after hearing Chu Yang recite the poem. She looked at Chu Yang in disbelief and said, "I don't believe you unless you recite it all."
Then Chu Yang actually memorized the entire book!
Seeing that Hermione was still unconvinced, Chu Yang calmly recited the first chapter of the rest of the textbooks one by one.
Every time Chu Yang finished reciting a chapter, Hermione's expression would become excited.
"Your parents must have given you lessons beforehand so you could learn these things early on and do better in school," Hermione said indignantly. If she had a family like that, she would have learned even faster than Chu Yang!
Chu Yang closed the book and slowly said, "I did read these books in advance, but I studied on my own for a month at the Broken Cauldron Bar after receiving the admission notice. No one gave me any lessons."
"You could learn to this level on your own in just one month?" Hermione shook her head firmly. "I don't believe it. Your parents must have taught you!"
Harry, unable to bear it any longer, stood up and shouted, "Enough! Yang and I are orphans. We have no parents, and no one taught us these things!"
"An orphan?" Hermione stared blankly at Harry, then immediately covered her mouth, her eyes filled with regret!
For those who are born orphans, the greatest pain is mentioning their parents!
"I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean to, I didn't know you were..." Hermione apologized to Chu Yang in a panic, her voice trembling with tears, a heartfelt apology.
This was the last thing Chu Yang wanted to see!
Can't we just sit quietly at Hogwarts?
Chu Yang sighed and forced a smile. "Miss Granger, I don't really care about being an orphan. Although the orphanage I came from was small and old, the people there were very kind."
"Director Anna celebrates the children's birthdays every year and tells us that even if our parents are not around, there will be someone to love us well in their place."
"I grew up in a great environment, and I am not ashamed or inferior about my background."
"Yes, yes, I know." Hermione nodded quickly, still looking apologetic. She felt that Chu Yang was putting on a brave face, and the more composed he looked, the sadder she felt inside.
Even Ron stood up and began to apologize for his attitude. Suddenly, the snacks in his hand no longer tasted good.
The two kind-hearted people stood in front of Chu Yang and kept apologizing, making the atmosphere in the private room increasingly tense.
Good heavens!
What are you doing?
I just want you all to quiet down so I can read a book!
Isn't that unnecessary?
Left with no other choice, Chu Yang grabbed the snacks beside him and shoved them into Hermione and Ron's mouths, saying fiercely, "Eat them all! I'll forgive you after you've finished; consider it your punishment."
The two of them started eating without saying a word.
The private room immediately fell silent. Chu Yang smiled with satisfaction and continued reading.
Harry looked completely bewildered.
Is there any other way to punish people in the world?
