Chapter 47 The Path of Magic
Chapter 47 The Path of Magic
Having finally sorted out his thoughts, Lucas closed his eyes, ignoring Tonks who was still muttering to himself.
He had already understood what Tonks meant.
Do you yearn for it?
He recalled Lily Evans's annotation in "The Theory of Magic": "Magic is the process by which a wizard turns his emotions and will into reality, and the most important thing is the power of the 'heart'."
The power of the heart, the desire... turning the emotions and will within into reality...
I want to open this door!
"The Arahomon Opens!"
The maple wand in his hand felt slightly warm, and a beam of light shot from the tip into the keyhole. With a crisp click, the lock was unlocked, and the entire door swung open with a bang, crashing heavily against the wall!
It worked!
Lucas was overjoyed. Tonks' eyes widened in surprise.
She was still thinking about how to explain "desire" more simply, but Lucas succeeded immediately.
Lucas, reflecting on what he had just experienced, understood perfectly. Tonks guided him in this way because she only saw herself as an eleven-year-old child who had never been exposed to magic.
But what she didn't know was that, with her own temperament and way of thinking, she immediately understood what the other person wanted to express, without needing to do any extra imagination, and was able to instantly evoke her emotions.
And then it worked.
And then—
"ah!!!"
A deafening scream!
Lucas stared blankly as Hannah bounced up on the bed, then suddenly curled up under the covers, revealing only half of her flushed face and disheveled blond hair.
Oh no, I completely forgot—
"Lucas! What...what are you doing?!" Hannah screamed. "Get out! Get out!"
"But we were already outside," Tonks said with a grin, but seeing Hannah's expression, which was almost tearful, he didn't dare tease her any further and waved his wand to close the door again.
She called out through the door, "Oh dear, Hannah, I'm so sorry. We were just having a magic lesson, and the spell accidentally hit your door. Don't worry, we didn't see anything!"
"Really?" Hannah inside sounded much more relaxed.
"Yes," Tonks said. "We're off now. Goodnight, Hannah. By the way, your pajamas are adorable."
Hannah blushed and let out a soft sob from under the covers.
They saw it...
......
"Tonks, I think this behavior is very inappropriate." Entering Tonks' room, Lucas said sternly, "Hannah is still a young girl; we can't joke like this."
Tonks turned her mouth into a duckbill shape, then back to its original shape, and said in an ambiguous tone, "Is that so... but you opened the door because you were thinking about her, it was for teaching purposes."
Lucas looked at her and suddenly had a mischievous thought.
"I wasn't thinking about her at all."
"So what were you thinking? You succeeded on your first try," Tonks asked curiously.
"Of course it's you, Tonks." Lucas's gaze swept over her slender figure. "I was thinking that the person in the room was you, and you were wearing underwear. Maybe there's another surprise in store..."
Tonks's fair face flushed red, and even her hair turned coral pink.
"You you you you you...you little pervert!" she stammered.
Lucas burst into laughter and triumphantly returned to his room.
"You brat who hasn't even been to school yet, how dare you tease a senior!" Tonks next door shouted angrily, "I'll deal with you tomorrow."
Lucas ignored her and gripped his wand tightly.
My magical journey truly begins today.
......
At Malfoy Manor, Lucius Malfoy is unfolding a page of a letter.
The letter contained only one simple sentence: "The matter has been settled, and the stall permit has been suspended."
He sneered and handed the letter to Draco beside him.
"Draco, look, we never have to lift a finger to punish a lowly mongrel."
"If you were to personally intervene, it would be an insult to the Malfoy family's reputation."
Draco gazed at his father with adoration, when his mother asked from beside him, "Compared to this insignificant Muggle, Lucius, who do you think really did what happened at Gringotts?"
Lucius was about to answer when he suddenly glared at the house-elf who was wiping the cabinets next to him.
"Dobby! Who gave you permission to eavesdrop here? Get out and punish yourself!"
Dobby strangled himself with a rag, then slammed his head against the wall, his screams echoing throughout the Malfoy estate.
......
Deep beneath London, at the British Ministry of Magic.
Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge was pacing anxiously in his rotunda. He was clutching a dark green top hat tightly in his hand, the brim of which was already warped from being squeezed.
"So, you're telling me..." Fudge stopped in his tracks, his chubby face trembling with terror, "In broad daylight! In Diagon Alley, the most bustling area of our wizarding world! A dark wizard of unknown origin robbed Gringotts, blew up Gringotts' doors, exchanged spells with Aurors in the street, and then—ran away?!"
Standing opposite Fudge was Rufus Scrimgeour, the Auror's Chief of Staff. He sported a mane of unruly hair, and behind his gold-rimmed glasses were a pair of sharp eyes. Even in the face of Fudge's rage, Scrimgeour stood ramrod straight, like a hard rock.
"Yes, Minister," Scrimgeour's voice was deep. "The suspect's magical skills are extremely high. He used an unknown method to deceive Gringotts's multiple layers of security, including the Anti-Theft Falls. He also confused our tracking..."
"Nine people were seriously injured and thirty-six were slightly injured in the entire incident. But at least no one died."
"Merlin's beard..." Fudge let out a desperate groan and collapsed onto the leather seat like a lump of mud.
"The Wizengamots will eat me alive." He pulled out a handkerchief and kept wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. "Those old guys were complaining about the security budget last month. If this isn't handled properly, I'll definitely face a vote of no confidence! I'll be impeached, Rufus!"
Scrimgeour stepped forward: "Minister, we must immediately issue a nationwide warrant, blockade the Floo Network, and increase the number of Auror patrols in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade—"
"No!" Fudge jumped up as if pricked by a needle, rudely interrupting Scrimgeour. "Absolutely not!"
Scrimgeour frowned. "What did you say?"
"I mean, we can't make a scene!" Fudge gasped, his eyes darting around. "Listen, Rufus. The goblins just reported that the dark wizard broke into Vault 713, but that vault was emptied hours ago! That means Gringotts suffered no damage other than the blown-up counter and doors."
"but--"
"No buts! Since nothing was stolen and no one died, then this was just... just..."
Just as Fudge was racking his brains for a noun, a very affected, girlish voice suddenly rang out from the sofa next to him.
"A 'minor security incident,' Minister."
Fudge's eyes lit up: "That's great, Dolores, you always hit the nail on the head."
A woman dressed entirely in pink with a toad-like face stood up. She was Dolores Umbridge, the Deputy Minister of Magic.
A fake, cloying smile played on her lips: "No, Minister, I was inspired by you."
"Your decision is wise. We must not launch a large-scale manhunt for this black wizard, otherwise it will cause widespread panic and public condemnation."
