Samson attempted to step from the water onto land, his steps faltering as if he were somewhat unaccustomed to the human body, but he quickly adapted and hummed:
"The master requests your presence."
Chapter 122 Agreement
As they passed through yet another underwater whirlpool, Wang Anzhi and Xia Mi arrived at the bottom of the water, a place filled with piles of white bones.
The bones that have been deposited at the bottom of the water for thousands of years, with the distinct features of their skulls and sternums indicating that they were human.
Xia Mi frowned, not out of fear of the death symbolized by these white bones. She was the queen of the "Land of the Dead," a land that brought death, so why would she fear a group of corpses?
She asked Samson, "Why don't Norton and Constantine clean up the corpses here, and instead put them all in their own gardens?"
Xia Mi didn't need to guess to know the identities of these people dressed in military uniforms and armor. They were nothing more than half-bloods who came to slay the Dragon King. Throughout history, there have always been people who wanted to profit from the cause of slaying dragons.
It's either for power or for fame.
What puzzled her was the tolerance of her two older brothers.
Putting Constantine aside, in Xia Mi's memory, Norton was never a benevolent king, so how could he allow some soldiers to defile his palace?
According to Xia Mi's knowledge of the Bronze City's structure, the palace in front of it was the residence of Norton and Constantine, and they actually allowed such a tomb to be placed in front of their palace.
Simply incredible.
It's as unbelievable that next to the Qianqing Palace is the Jingyang Palace (the Cold Palace), not the Kunning Palace.
Samson followed respectfully behind them, a hint of fear occasionally flashing in his eyes.
This applies not only to the dragon king named Jormungandr, but also to Wang Anzhi, who has remained almost entirely silent since entering the Bronze City.
Upon hearing Xia Mi's question, Samson opened his mouth as if to say something, but then quickly shut his mouth and said nothing.
The silence clearly did not satisfy Xia Mi. When she saw this, she also felt a vague sense of familiarity, but her memory was blank.
This made her feel a surge of irritation, and her mood became increasingly unpleasant, causing her tone to turn cold.
"Say it."
Samson remained silent, and just as Xia Mi's gaze grew increasingly hostile, a childish voice came from ahead.
"Don't push him any further, Jormungandr."
Xia Mi looked to her right and saw a figure in a white robe standing at the bottom of the water, surrounded by white mist, seemingly riding the wind and drifting about as if detached from the world.
This is formed by the mutual evaporation of flames and ice water.
She chuckled softly. "As expected, it's just you, Constantine. Norton isn't here."
Constantine coughed, looking down at the pile of corpses on the ground with a sorrowful expression. "Yes! My brother isn't here. I don't know who stole him."
He ignored Xia Mi's increasingly intense gaze, and an invisible domain emanated from his body. Seven swords danced around him, forming an unbreakable sphere that was impeccable for both defense and offense.
The Seven Deadly Sins, the Domain of Sin and Punishment, is a sword forged by Norton, the King of Bronze and Fire, to completely kill the Dragon King. When the Domain of Sin and Punishment is in full operation, even Norton himself cannot stop its encroachment.
From the moment this set of swords was completed, Norton placed himself on the altar to maintain the operation of the domain.
Why is this set of swords, which has never killed any Dragon King, called the nemesis of Dragon Kings?
The answer is simple: Norton had already set a constraint on it; the first royal blood to stain this set of swords was Norton himself.
In his plan, Constantine should first judge him with the Seven Deadly Sins, becoming Surtur, the fire giant in mythology who destroyed the world, and then use the same set of swords to judge his brothers one by one.
Finally, carrying Norton's legacy, he used this set of swords stained with royal blood to meet the arrival of "destiny"—the return of the Black King Nidhogg.
Swords and blades danced underwater without getting wet at all, completely isolating the area from the outside world.
Xia Mi's greedy gaze softened slightly, and she smiled, "So your brother left you this set of swords, Constantine. Now you are indeed qualified to stand before me."
Samson, the dragon servant behind her, let out a few faint roars, as if expressing his inner anger.
Constantine ignored them, his gaze towards the swords growing increasingly sorrowful. He pointed at the underwater skeletons, then looked at Wang Anzhi and Xia Mi, who were still in a daze, and a sense of understanding flashed through his mind.
"Aren't you curious why my brother allowed these corpses to pile up here?"
He lifted the white robe covering his left hand, revealing a scar that looked like a sword. Constantine pointed to the scar and said, "The answer is obvious, but you probably don't remember Jormungandr."
He looked at Wang Anzhi, who remained silent. "My brother and I suffered a crushing defeat here, to the point that we couldn't even protect our own palace and had to sign a humiliating treaty here."
His tone was soft, and the sorrow in Samson's eyes could no longer be concealed. Xia Mi's surprise was also obvious. "What alliance?"
She recognized the scars on Constantine's arm; they were a blood-written pact, shaped like swords because Constantine himself was the one most bound by them.
Since Constantine has this covenant, Norton won't escape it either; he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would betray his own blood relatives.
Constantine smiled, his expression sorrowful and melancholic. "Two thousand years of slumber for a moment of peace, the power of the future for life in this present..."
He laughed and laughed until he almost cried, as if he could recall once again the moment two thousand years ago when the emperor with a giant sword stood before him through layers of corpses.
From that time on, even his brother Norton could no longer protect him.
Seeing Xia Mi still looking confused, Constantine laughed again. "Jormungandr, so you were kept in the dark too."
Xia Mi frowned, her brows furrowed, her beautiful face filled with uncertainty. "Constantine, what are you talking about? In my eyes, your death is imminent."
Constantine said bitterly, "I am indeed nearing my end." He looked at Wang Anzhi with a familiar expression, "It's been a long time..."
Looking into Constantine's familiar gaze, Wang Anzhi's mind was filled with chaotic memories. He finally spoke, "Constantine, you should have two dragon attendants, right? Besides Samson here, where is the other one?"
Constantine murmured:
“No one will follow a defeated king forever; Abidon has left me.”
Abidon is the name of another dragon servant.
Chapter 123 Sky Fire
The Moniach.
The river surface was calm.
Zhou Minhao glanced at the time; half an hour had passed since Wang Anzhi and Xia Mi dived underwater.
He boarded the ship right after Nuwa and the others. Just as he stepped onto the Moniahe, Wang Anzhi and Xia Mi had already gone into the water.
He gripped the chain behind him tightly, with a sword case wrapped around it, inside which was the Zhou family's famous "Dragon-Slaying Platform".
Legend has it that two thousand years ago, Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang, used this very sword to behead the King of Bronze and Fire.
He looked at Nuwa, who was playing a game of guerrilla warfare, and approached her, saying, "Lord Nuwa, do you really think the King of Bronze and Fire will...negotiate with us?"
After a long pause, Zhou Minhao finally uttered the word "negotiation." In his view, the Dragon King was extremely arrogant and would never look at humans and hybrids as equals.
In his view, these people were nothing more than thieves who had stolen power.
Nuwa didn't even look up, her focus fixed on the phone screen. "Who knows? Maybe he'll agree?"
Zhou Minhao was shocked. So Nuwa also knew that this was unlikely. Then why did she send Wang Anzhi and Xia Mi to go diving?
That's not right either. It seems like they both volunteered, one more eager than the other. Why is that?
Zhou Minhao had no idea that one of them was a transmigrator with a cheat code, and the other was a dragon king disguised as a human. He couldn't figure out why the two of them insisted on "going to their deaths."
A howling wind swept through the air, and the sky gradually darkened, with raindrops beginning to fall.
Nuwa's ears twitched. She frowned, stepped out of the cabin, and saw a beautiful Latin girl sitting on the side of the boat, her eyes fixed on the water, so restless that she didn't even notice the raindrops falling on her head.
Professor Mans Rundstedt, meanwhile, kept his eyes glued to the images of the Bronze City on the screen in the cabin, seemingly trying to find an entrance in a short time.
Lady Bai sat to the side holding the baby. After Nuwa arrived, even though she was jealous, she felt at ease and did not leave.
Nuwa looked at the old man and casually said, "Professor Mans, I think our negotiations have broken down."
Mans turned his head, completely bewildered. "What?"
He immediately thought of Nuwa's seemingly childish dive, but he didn't ignore Nuwa's words and asked, "What happened?"
Nuwa leaned against the cabin door, glancing sideways at the water: "In about ten seconds, a dragon will surface. Of course, it's also possible that it will crash directly into this ship."
"Professor, you'd better get your students and sailors still on deck somewhere to hide; that's probably the most dangerous place."
Before Nuwa could finish speaking, a bead of cold sweat dripped down Mans' forehead. The Moniach was not a ship used for combat; its primary function, including its registration, was that of an exploration vessel.
There weren't many weapons on the table, and using them to slay dragons was even more of a pipe dream. He didn't doubt Nuwa's words, nor did he question her abilities.
Within the Secret Society, she was an "elder"-level figure, whose noble lineage should far surpass his.
He brought the walkie-talkie to his mouth and shouted, "Everyone evacuate the deck! Everyone evacuate the deck! The dragons are attacking! The dragons are attacking!"
Just as he finished speaking, Nuwa looked up at the sky and said softly, "They've arrived."
Zhou Minhao followed Nuwa's gaze, his pupils contracting sharply.
The sky, which was originally gloomy and rainy, suddenly cracked open with a golden-red slit, and a boiling light instantly spread across the sky, as if it were going to scorch the clouds.
Immediately afterwards, several dazzling sparks fell to the earth, trailing long fiery tails, like sparks of fire accidentally dropped by the sun god.
The spark fell into the river, making a piercing sound.
"Did I miss?" Zhou Minhao muttered to himself, but quickly dismissed the idea.
Professor Mans shouted, "Drop anchor, start the engine! Put on afterburner!"
Inside the cabin, the first mate frantically operated the machinery, but he soon realized he was doing something futile. He replied, "The engine is damaged and cannot be started for a while."
Everyone in the cabin now understood the purpose of the "spark" that had been fired into the river.
The underwater dragon instantly figured out how the giant machine worked, and thus accurately used its power of words to damage the engine of the Moniach, preventing them from escaping.
"Damn it, we're trapped now." Mans slammed his fist on the table, but he quickly calmed down and continued to command: "Sonar, thermal imaging, I need to see the true face of this underwater Dragon King and its exact location."
Three pairs of eyes were fixed on the screen. "The speed is too fast, there's no way to get an accurate image. It's over fifteen meters long and the speed exceeds fifty knots. We're already sitting ducks."
He was right. While everyone else was focused on the engine damage that caused the ship to stop operating, Zhou Minhao saw that the flames on the horizon had not stopped.
Clearly, the Dragon King did not stop attacking after destroying the engine; instead, he was brewing an even more powerful attack.
Soon, hundreds and thousands of streams of fire pierced the sky, their crimson-gold tails exploding in the air. But this did not diminish their power; instead, it dyed half the sky a reddish-brown iron color.
A wave of heat swept over him from the sky, and Zhou Minhao could even feel the destructive aura it brought. His voice was hoarse:
"What kind of incantation is this?"
"Word of Power: Heavenly Fire," Nuwa's gaze burned as she looked at the oncoming flames, which dyed her dark pupils crimson. "The high-risk Word of Power of the Bronze and Fire King lineage has not left any noteworthy stories in the East, but in the West, legend has it that this Word of Power completely destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, annihilating both cities."
