Chapter 85 Mr. Ominous Sign
Chapter 85 Mr. Ominous Sign
Chapter 85 Mr. Ominous Sign
Weapon X does indeed have a base in Madrid, and this time they didn't send out their entire force—of course, it's true that four went out and two came back.
"I don't even know how I'm going to get through tonight," Deadpool said, slumped on the sofa to Deathly Hallows sitting beside him. He then raised his two still-regenerating arms, almost the size of a baby's, and adorably waved them. "Can you imagine how I'm going to get through tonight, baby? I can't even reach myself. I'm so lonely, but if you could help me…"
The Death Woman smiled and raised her hand, which transformed into five slender, gleaming blades. Under the light, they shimmered with a cold metallic sheen, clearly high-quality boning knives. Wade was so startled that he hurriedly shouted, "Oh! Never mind! Forget I said anything!" and almost fell to the ground.
Just then, a person wearing a white coat walked into the Weapon X members' lounge.
"Alright, my dear weapons X, we have to admit that our operation today has failed."
Ajax was a muscular bald man, and apart from that, he didn't look particularly special in his white coat. He sighed helplessly and counted who he had left: Deadpool and Daken, who had returned, and Death Woman and Domino, who hadn't left.
Gone.
With this lineup, even if everyone were together, we wouldn't have a guaranteed win against the opponent, let alone now. Ajax had no choice but to explain the next step: "Based on the current situation, there's no doubt that James Howlett, our Logan, will return to his mutant circus. With our current strength, we can't make a move."
"I told you long ago, you should perform surgery on me and put Muramasa on my paws."
Deakin stood up without hesitation, glaring at Ajax with obvious anger: "That knife is the only thing that can kill that bastard, I told you so!"
"What we need is a living Weapon X, you understand?" Ajax had no intention of lenient with Daken: "Whether it's your genes or Deadpool's healing factor, they all come from him. He's the one I need most! Since the dam incident, all the Weapon X genetic samples we had have been destroyed! I need a living one! Understand?!"
"If you just want his blood, I can kill him first and then give it to you."
Speechless. I can't talk to you anymore. Typical Wolverine nemesis mentality. If you want to kill Logan, then don't fight amongst yourselves. You agreed to kill him, but now everyone's saying, "He's mine!" and you're turning on each other. Why are you all out of your minds? Are you crazy?
Speechless, Ajax waved his hand and left, saying, "I'm going to prepare for the next operation." He took the elevator down from Weapon X's base to his laboratory, where he finally removed his disguise—Ajax had transformed into a person with sickly pale or grayish-white skin, high cheekbones, and a sharp chin, resembling a resurrected corpse. Most striking was the red, diamond-shaped gem on his forehead, similar to the diamond symbol on a playing card.
The so-called Ajax was just a disguise. His true identity, or face, was Nathaniel Essex, the X-Men's old adversary, whom Cyclops and Logan believed to be dead—Mr. Ominous. He had prepared a clone of himself long ago and uploaded his consciousness into the clone at the moment of his death, thus escaping death.
The reason he went into hiding and infiltrated the Weapon X project was to take over everything so that he could allocate manpower and time for his next plan. He needed Weapon X's data and plans, and his goal was to create a perfect mutant weapon to fight against the legendary mutant tyrant who would eventually awaken, an existence called Apocalypse.
That's why he needs a live Wolverine. As the most successful Weapon X, capable of even creating Deadpool from his genes, only a live Wolverine can help him complete this ultimate weapon. Unfortunately, however great Weapon X may be, it has a group of Wolverine's die-hard enemies, each wanting to kill him.
I just can't keep doing this job anymore, it's too exhausting.
As Mr. Ominous thought this, he dialed a number. Soon, a large green face resembling a skull, composed of the numbers "0" and "1," appeared on the screen: "Oh dear, oh dear, isn't this Dr. Essex, the head of our Project Ten? What brings you to make this call?"
"You didn't tell me the X-Men were here, and my plan to capture Weapon X failed." Mr. Sinister remained completely calm in the face of the mysterious man, instead threatening him with conviction: "You'd better send some of your best men here. After all, you know how important this is to Project Ten."
The other party fell silent, seemingly considering his offer. After a while, he finally smiled, which was considered an agreement to Mr. Ominous's request.
"I will help you expand your DNA database, Dr. Essex. I believe in your talent, but please don't forget who is supporting your research. Prepare the room at ten o'clock tomorrow morning; the person you requested will arrive."
"Long live Hydra!"
"Hail Hydra—" After shouting this in a pretentious manner, Mr. Ominous, who had secured a new sponsor, couldn't help but curl his lip. He then pulled up his gene pool and began comparing data. He wasn't a mutant, or rather, he wasn't originally one, but after using a gene-editing device to modify his genes, he gained all sorts of abilities. Basically, he programmed different mutant abilities into himself to deal with different enemies, a tactic that had been very effective until he was killed by the X-Men.
As for now, there are only a few new X-Men. If I can develop a powerful enough mutant ability and change my genetic sequence, I'm sure I can give this group of X-Men endless surprises!
"I can't rely on myself alone. What if I get killed again? I need to prepare a new clone and find the genes of a telepath so that I can transfer my thoughts at any time."
While searching through the gene bank, Mr. Ominous raised an eyebrow and then couldn't help but laugh. He saw Jean Grey's gene sample, and suddenly, a bold idea popped into his mind.
