Chapter 14 We are... the Thunder Special Forces!
"Boom—!"
On the mountaintop, the Iron Lady watched as the small house she had built with her own hands turned into dazzling fireworks in the explosion, her eyes slightly red.
The red guard beside her pulled her into his arms, his broad chest trying to offer some warmth, but in return he received two solid punches from the Iron Lady.
The kind that makes a "bang bang" sound!
Yelena rolled her eyes and glanced at her father, "You really don't know how to comfort people."
"Is she dead?"
Icarus hovered around the group, his metallic voice carrying a hint of solemnity, his gaze fixed on the direction where the fireworks were rising.
"This kind of damage won't kill her." Moonlight Blade, having returned the talisman to Cold Dew, silently watched the black smoke rising below. "At night, this light can illuminate hundreds of kilometers. We need to leave quickly."
"Where are we going now?" Kamala asked curiously, her eyes filled with anticipation for the unknown.
John Walker glanced at the Black Widows standing guard behind him; before he knew it, the group had grown to such a size.
He gripped the shield tightly, suddenly feeling as if a thousand-pound weight was pressing down on his shoulders: "I know a place, Liberty City by the sea, which is currently the largest gathering place for survivors."
"Let's go there!"
Hanlu was the first to express his support. He was certainly aware of the existence of Free City and felt it was a real pity that the safe haven had been destroyed by the self-destruct program—in the end, it was the information gap that harmed people.
"Alright! The Thunder Force is about to save the world again!"
The Red Guard's booming voice rang out, and every time he encouraged everyone, his voice, though a little clumsy, always warmed people's hearts.
Compared to his lonely state after losing his loved ones in the original story, the current Red Guard is more like his original self—a bit silly, but adorably silly.
No one seemed to react much to the name "Thunderbolts." John Walker stepped onto the truck, his fingertips tracing the edge of the shield, the image of Captain America's dying roar replaying in his mind like a thorn in his heart.
Icarus sat silently in the truck bed, his eyes closed, yet he could almost hear the wails of countless companions amidst the horde of zombies.
This time, he did not act alone; silence became his only form of expression.
The Red Guards were getting a little disappointed when no one responded, but Kamala and the other girls surrounded them, curiously asking about the origin of the name.
He immediately perked up and began boasting enthusiastically about his daughter's past glorious achievements, making Yelena, who was standing next to him, so embarrassed that she wanted to disappear into the ground.
"Let's go, we need to hurry."
Hanlu boarded the train and casually pulled Matt along.
This blind lawyer silently supported the team, like a steady radar. Even with the help of Moonlight Blade, he remained a man of few words, yet always able to make the most calm judgment at crucial moments.
"Oh, by the way, our great divine messenger, is there anything you wish to say?"
Hanlu turned around, placed her right hand on the back of the chair, and looked at Moonlight Blade, who stood on the truck roof against the wind.
Moonlight Blade shook his head: "Kong Su didn't give any useful clues, but we have to go to Freedom City—there are traces of living people there."
"Alright, let's go!"
……
Amidst swirling yellow sand, the convoy traveled across the desolate continent.
This land has never lacked extraordinary individuals, and they are just a tiny part of it.
"Want to sing one together?"
Detective Wu held up the microphone and handed it to the masked businessman next to him. The businessman was also Asian, but he turned his face away indifferently, clearly having no interest in such a cheerful gesture.
In another off-road vehicle, Shang-Chi and his girlfriend were having a blast, and the other team members hummed along, adding a rare touch of joy to this doomsday journey.
Suddenly, the cows in the back of the truck let out a panicked moo—something was coming!
"Guys, we have company now." Detective Wu looked behind him through the rearview mirror and saw a large group of green figures emerging from the smoke. "Don't panic, they're Skoru people."
These days, the zombie virus is everywhere; as long as you're alive, you can't escape being bitten.
Even aliens have to survive in the apocalypse; it's a miracle that Skoru has survived this long.
You can't expect them to be able to hide their identities after turning into zombies, can you?
That's outrageous!
"Get ready to work!" Shang-Chi jerked the steering wheel, trying to make a clean interception. This bracelet was the last thing his father left him, and it would come in handy.
But just as he raised his hand, a figure ripped through the sky, followed by a terrifying golden beam of light that pierced a deep trench in the sand between the two convoys.
The sudden turn of events interrupted the impending conflict. Shang-Chi stared at the wheelchairs that were rapidly passing through the sky, then looked at another convoy that appeared on the horizon in the distance.
His girlfriend murmured, "Was that Superman just now?"
Shang Qi shook his head: "I don't know, but trouble is brewing."
In the fire not far away, the Skrulls, who had just been bombed, were already terrified. Seeing the Superman in the sky, who even showed signs of returning, they immediately began to flee in a panic!
Amidst the smoke and dust, a figure clad in red and gold armor and wielding a blue shield descended from the sky. The shield was hurled like a dart, precisely knocking over a Skrull's motorcycle, sending the alien rider flying.
"Where do you want to go?"
John Walker, clad in his Iron Man armor, scooped up a Skrull who was trying to escape, his mask slowly opening to reveal a triumphant face.
"Who are you?" the Skru asked in a trembling voice.
Hanlu descended from the sky wearing a familiar gray-white trench coat. Her mental power instantly imprisoned all the Skrulls, freezing their trigger-pulling movements in mid-air, leaving only their eyeballs able to move slightly.
"We are... the Thunder Special Forces."
John wanted to use a more imposing name, but after thinking about it, he reluctantly used the name Red Guard, which had been used all the way.
Hanlu didn't care about this at all; it was just a title.
He didn't care if it was called the Thunder Force, the Avengers, the West Coast Avengers, the Supreme Team, the Defenders, or even the Justice League next door.
He's always been like this; he doesn't have many desires. Just being alive is enough for him, and he tries his best to live well.
So, at the strong insistence of the Red Guards, they ultimately continued to bear this somewhat shameful title.
"May I ask who you are?"
On the other side, Shang-Chi, who had been kicked out of the car, looked warily at the "Superman" in front of him and gripped the bracelet in his hand tightly.
The convoy on the horizon drew ever closer, and this almost destined encounter quietly unfolded amidst the swirling yellow sand.
