Chapter 4 You've got guts!
Chapter 4 You've got guts!
Deep within the Starry Sky Forest, in this secluded and rarely visited dense forest, the light energy of heaven and earth was gathering around Jiang Che in a frenzied manner.
He was enveloped in pure golden light, as if draped in holy radiance. His originally silver-blue eyes were now intertwined with a dazzling golden light. The chilling coldness of extreme ice and the warmth of extreme light coexisted perfectly within him. The two extreme attribute soul powers fused and complemented each other. Instead of conflicting, they made his soul power foundation even more profound. The restlessness he had felt when he first broke through to the Title Douluo level completely dissipated under the influence of these two extreme soul powers, and his cultivation became as stable as could be.
Jiang Che raised his hand and gently stroked the blade of the Holy Sword of Light. Holy light flowed from his fingertips, gentle yet carrying an inviolable majesty. He could clearly feel that this Holy Sword was no ordinary weapon spirit, but a top-tier weapon spirit containing the ultimate light attribute. It had a natural restraint and crushing power against darkness and evil spirits. It was simply a natural nemesis to deal with the evil spirit masters of the Holy Spirit Cult who would later roam the continent.
"Dual ultimate martial souls are extremely rare, even in the entire history of Douluo Continent," Jiang Che muttered to himself, a hearty smile spreading across his lips.
As a fan of Douluo Continent in his previous life, he knew the terror of ultimate martial souls. A single ultimate martial soul was enough to dominate the continent. Now, he possessed two ultimate martial souls, ultimate ice and ultimate light. Even though he was only a level 90 Title Douluo and had not yet obtained his ninth spirit ring, he still had the power to fight against a level 94 Title Douluo. If his ninth spirit ring was properly matched, he might even have a chance of winning against a Super Douluo of level 95 or above.
Jiang Che sheathed his sword and stood still, the aura of light around him slowly receding, and the depths of the Star Dou Great Forest returned to darkness, with only the remaining golden light in the air still proving the reality of what had just happened.
He looked down at his right hand, while his left hand shone with the silvery-blue light of ultimate ice, and the golden holy light of the Holy Sword of Light in his right hand had not yet dissipated. The two ultimate martial souls each occupied a part of his body, yet they were connected to each other in some subtle way, as if they were born to be this way.
"No wonder the system gave me this reward..." Jiang Che mused.
He understood from reading novels in his previous life that while the ultimate ice was powerful, it ultimately lacked the ability to counter the bizarre and insidious soul skills of evil soul masters. The ultimate light attribute of the Holy Sword of Light, on the other hand, was a natural nemesis to all dark and evil spirits. The two complemented each other, not only avoiding any weakening due to attribute conflict, but actually elevating the quality of his soul power to a higher level.
Jiang Che tried to activate both soul powers at the same time. His left hand condensed ice into a blade, and his right hand transformed light into a sword. The air within a hundred meters suddenly became extremely oppressive. The bark of several ancient trees was first covered with a thin layer of ice, and then it was penetrated by the golden light, eventually turning into ice crystal fragments that scattered.
"Its power is at least 30% stronger than a single ultimate attribute." Jiang Che nodded in satisfaction, then withdrew his martial soul and suppressed his aura back to the level of an ordinary soul master.
"It's time to go back." Jiang Che lifted his foot and walked out. His steps were light and silent. When he passed the territory of several hundred-year-old soul beasts, those soul beasts did not even notice him passing by.
This is the strength of a Title Douluo; their control over their aura has reached a level of perfection.
As Jiang Che stepped out of the outer edge of the Star Dou Great Forest, he suddenly stopped and glanced southeast. He could faintly hear the fluctuations of clashing soul power, along with a few childish exclamations; it sounded like a battle was taking place.
"This direction leads to the Soul Hunting Zone on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest. At this time of year, those hunting soul beasts are mostly freshmen or lower-grade students from Shrek Academy." Jiang Che frowned slightly. He wanted to leave immediately, but then he thought that he was, after all, a member of Shrek Academy's inner court. It wouldn't be right for him to stand idly by when his juniors were in danger.
He flashed, becoming a blur as he sped toward the direction from which the fluctuations came.
In a sparse woodland, three boys and girls dressed in Shrek Academy uniforms stood back to back in a circle, their faces pale as they watched the approaching horde of soul beasts.
Leading the group was a Shadow Leopard with a thousand-year cultivation level. Its entire body was as black as ink, and its eyes gleamed with a cold, eerie green light. Faint dark elements swirled around it, and it circled the three of them with elegant yet dangerous steps. Behind the Shadow Leopard followed seven or eight Wind Wolves with ten or a hundred years of cultivation, baring their teeth and growling incessantly.
"What...what should we do? This Shadow Leopard is at least 1,500 years old, we...we can't beat it!" A round-faced girl said with a sob in her voice. The spirit in her hand was a green vine, which was trembling slightly, obviously pushed to its limit.
"I've already sent out a distress signal, but it will take at least an incense stick's time for the teacher to arrive!" Another tall, thin boy gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead. His martial spirit was an iron shield, and several deep claw marks had appeared on its surface.
The strongest of the three was a girl with a ponytail, about twelve or thirteen years old, whose soul power fluctuations were at the level of a second-ring Great Soul Master, with two yellow soul rings surrounding her.
Her martial spirit was a silver-white spear, its tip gleaming coldly. She was intently watching the Shadow Leopard's movements, but cold sweat had already beaded on her forehead.
"Don't panic, just stall until the teacher arrives," the ponytail girl said in a low voice, though there was a slight, almost imperceptible tremor in her voice. She knew very well that the Shadow Leopard was an extremely fast soul beast, best at ambushes, and if it really launched an attack, the three of them wouldn't last more than a few breaths.
The shadow leopard seemed to sense its prey's fear; a hint of mockery flashed in its eerie green eyes, and it lowered its front paws slightly, preparing to pounce.
"It's coming!" the ponytail girl shouted, holding her spear horizontally in front of her. Her second spirit ring lit up, and a sharp ball of spirit power condensed at the tip of the spear.
Just as the Shadow Panther was about to pounce,
A figure appeared out of nowhere beside the Shadow Panther, and no one even saw how he got there.
Jiang Che stretched out one hand and gently touched the Shadow Leopard's forehead with his fingertip, the movement as casual as if he were popping a bubble.
"Certainly."
The chilling aura of extreme ice surged from his fingertips, instantly freezing the Shadow Panther into an ice sculpture. Ice crystals spread from the panther's head to its entire body, even freezing the eerie green glint in its eyes within the ice.
The Thousand-Year Shadow Leopard didn't even have the right to struggle in front of this Title Douluo.
The remaining seven or eight wind wolves howled in fright, turned tail and ran, disappearing into the dense forest in the blink of an eye.
The three teenagers stood there dumbfounded, their mouths agape, wide enough to fit an egg.
"You...you..." The round-faced girl pointed at Jiang Che, unable to speak coherently.
Jiang Che withdrew his finger, turned to look at the three, and a friendly smile appeared in his silver-blue eyes: "Shrek's freshmen? You guys have some nerve, coming to the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest to hunt thousand-year-old soul beasts right after enrolling. Don't you want to live?"
