Chapter 10: Actually, everyone is of mixed race.
Chapter 10: Actually, everyone is of mixed race.
Twenty minutes later, Hermione finally understood what the mode of transportation Siren had been talking about was.
She never dreamed that freshmen would have to take a boat to school, and at the same time, she saw the majestic castle standing at the end of the lake.
The windows twinkled under the starry sky, mysterious and beautiful.
Most of the other freshmen were also captivated by this scene and stood there dumbfounded.
"Hurry up, freshmen, if you want to sit in the warm castle and enjoy a sumptuous dinner, then hurry up and get on the ship."
"However, please be very careful: no more than four people are allowed on each boat!"
"Harry, you come here, the rest of you follow." Hagrid guided the new students methodically.
Hey, I know you.
Xilun looked up at the boy speaking to him.
He had platinum blonde hair, a pale face, and looked arrogant and somewhat mean.
He seemed to be arguing with someone, and it looked like he was at a disadvantage; his tone was a bit harsh when he spoke.
"I remember you," he repeated. "You're the one from the wand shop, right?"
"Yes," Siron said, looking at the two other boys beside him, who were burly and looked like two wooden stumps.
"Oh, this is Crabbe, and this is Goyle," the boy said. "I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy. I guess you're one of us."
Xiren raised an eyebrow. "If you mean pureblood, then yes."
"Then you must know me, right?" Malfoy continued, "or are you like some other people, foolish and ignorant?"
His voice suddenly became much louder, as if he was deliberately speaking to someone.
Xilun guessed it must be the small boat next to theirs, or more precisely, the one sitting on the left with a scar on his forehead, Harry Potter.
However, is he out of his mind to flaunt his family's fame here?
"Let me introduce myself, Siren Ollivander." Siren looked at the slightly arrogant Malfoy and suddenly couldn't help but smile.
"In fact, by the time Malfoy I rose to power, Ollivander had already existed in this land for 1,800 years. Do you understand what I mean?"
The small boat fell silent.
Then, a distinct, undisguised snicker came from next door.
Malfoy's originally pale face instantly turned bright red.
He had never blushed this much when Harry Potter humiliated him on the train, but he never expected to be "humiliated" here. However, upon closer reflection, he realized that Harry Potter was absolutely right.
Xilun wanted to laugh too, but he held it in.
It can only be said that Malfoy brought this humiliation upon himself.
In terms of the amount of gold, the Ollivander family would probably rank last among all pure-blood families.
But if you're talking about lineage and family history, then sorry, there isn't a single pure-blood family in the entire UK that can rival them, including Hogwarts, and even Merlin.
Hogwarts was founded a thousand years ago, in the tenth century.
The legend of Merlin and King Arthur dates back to the sixth century.
And Ollivander... the sign says it was founded in 382 BC, more than nine hundred years earlier than Merlin.
Siren glanced at Malfoy, whose face was flushed, and shrugged. "Tsk, you clearly saw me at the wand shop, why bother..."
I don't know if it's just my imagination, but the temperature around me seems to have gotten a little warmer.
However, Celen didn't want to embarrass Malfoy too much, and proactively extended his hand, saying:
"Let me formally introduce myself, Siren Ollivander, and I do know you... hawthorn wood, unicorn hair, ten inches, right?"
The way out offered by Celen came just in time, and Malfoy's complexion returned to normal at a visible speed.
He really wanted to slap that hand away, but after only a moment's hesitation, he gave up the idea and reached out his hand as well.
"Draco Malfoy".
"You already said that once."
"You'll definitely be sorted into Slytherin," Malfoy immediately changed the subject.
"Perhaps," Siren said.
Like I said before, do you even understand the significance of 382 BC?
In other words, Ollivander never cared about anything other than wands; otherwise, if we really got into the whole pure-blood thing, even Salazar Slytherin himself would have to take a backseat.
But that stuff is meaningless; if you go back a few generations, everyone is of mixed race.
However, after the handshake and reconciliation on this side, the people on the small boat next door were much more disappointed.
"I thought Malfoy was going to get a beating," Ron sighed, but quickly grinned. "But it's not so bad. Did you see that? Malfoy's face was redder than a train."
"Ah, I see." Harry Potter nodded.
"Wait a minute." Hermione, sitting opposite them, suddenly spoke up: "That Ollivander family, really has an 1,800-year history?"
"Maybe," Ron said, scratching his head.
To be honest, he wasn't quite sure either.
He only knew that the name Ollivander was very famous, and that all the wands used by his family were made by Ollivander, including those made by his grandfather and his great-grandfather.
As for how many years Ollivander existed?
Who has time to know about those things?
The four people on the ship fell silent... No one knew what they were thinking, but Siren and Malfoy seemed to be having a pleasant conversation.
In just a short while, Malfoy had asked three times if it was really possible to turn the wand silver-green.
When asked about this, Xilun, who "inadvertently" let slip, shrugged and said that it was still under research, the technology was not yet mature, and they would have to wait patiently.
"I'll add money, any amount of Galleons will do!" Malfoy thumped his chest loudly.
Silver background with green stripes, the same color scheme as the Slytherin logo—I absolutely have to have this! Otherwise, it's not Slytherin!
The small boat sailed through the center of the lake, and the bright moonlight illuminated the blush on Malfoy's face, but this time it was from excitement.
Xiren looked at the thirty Galleons deposit in his hand and slightly curled the corners of his mouth.
Sure enough, his previous idea worked. Getting money from Hogwarts was really easy...easy to make.
……
In this strange atmosphere, the small boat finally reached the other side.
Hagrid walked at the front, ascended the stone steps, raised a huge fist, and knocked three times on the castle gate.
The doors opened, and Professor McGonagall, with a serious expression, appeared before everyone, ready to lead the new students into the auditorium.
Siren was still at the very end, and as he entered the castle, Hagrid, who was about to leave, suddenly stopped.
"What you said in the wand shop earlier, was it true?" he asked in a deliberately low voice, glancing nervously into the castle as if afraid Professor McGonagall would overhear him.
However, Professor McGonagall had already entered the auditorium by then, so she naturally couldn't hear what he was saying.
"What?"
"It's... my umbrella..." Hagrid looked even more nervous and subconsciously touched his coat pocket.
"Oh, of course it's true," Siren said, "if you need."
"I live near the Forbidden Forest," Hagrid said quickly, seemingly relieved.
