Chapter 1167 - 1206: Likes Mommy the Most
Mabel Quinn and Auntie Wu were already beside themselves with anxiety. When Mabel finally arrived on the scene, the police arrived shortly afterward. After searching the scene, they still couldn’t find the little one. So, they returned to the police station with the officers to start a statement, while the police gathered surveillance footage from the area for clues.
Auntie Wu was in tears and kept apologizing to Mabel, "Miss Quinn, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, it’s my carelessness that lost Ivy. If Ivy isn’t found, I’ll be guilty for life!"
Mabel knew that blaming Auntie Wu now wouldn’t help. Besides, according to Auntie Wu, she checked on Ivy every few oranges she picked, which was barely a minute or so. If Ivy had run off herself, a five-year-old girl couldn’t have gone far. How could Auntie Wu not find her unless Ivy purposely hid or... something else happened?
Just as Mabel was overwhelmed with speculation, the police got a lead from the surveillance. They discovered a car had been tailing Auntie Wu and Katherine Quinn after leaving the preschool. When Auntie Wu was selecting oranges, it quickly snatched the little one and drove away.
The technique seemed very practiced.
Mabel was stunned. Could this be... a premeditated kidnapping?!
Was it a trafficking attempt, or were they going to demand a ransom? But she hadn’t received any call from the kidnappers yet. While the police were considering their next move, they suddenly received a call from another precinct. They said a little girl matching the details of the missing person report was just rescued, seemingly the same child.
That precinct even sent over a photo, and Mabel immediately recognized it as her daughter. Tears welled up at once, and she breathed a long sigh of relief.
Thank goodness... Ivy’s okay, and Mabel and Auntie Wu rushed to the police station.
At the station, the little one didn’t seem frightened at all. She was even learning to salute with the police officers, in high spirits, unaware of how worried her mother had been.
Upon seeing Mabel, Katherine Quinn immediately ran over on her little legs, rushing into Mabel’s arms, saying in her soft voice, "Mommy! Ivy almost got caught by a bad man today, but luckily the police officer saved Ivy, and... there was an uncle who wasn’t a police officer who saved Ivy too..."
The little one began to chatter away, wanting to recount the events to her mommy, but Mabel had already pulled her into a tight embrace.
Thankfully, her daughter was safe, her daughter was unharmed.
"Mommy, what’s wrong?" the little one asked, puzzled, hearing the sound of sobbing, "Is Mommy crying?"
"Mommy is happy, it’s a blessing that Ivy is back with Mommy," Mabel choked up, thinking that if the situation hadn’t turned out so favorably, she might have truly lost her daughter.
"Ivy would always return to Mommy!" the little one said matter-of-factly, "Ivy likes Mommy the most!"
