“I never thought I’d see the day,” Jade teased.

“Consider this the day and you’ve seen,” Clara answered as she flipped her hair over her shoulder.

I couldn’t help but feel excited at the thought of going out with them. Having a girl’s day sounded amazing. I had a lot of questions and maybe this would be the chance to ask them things I couldn’t talk to the guys about. What did they think of me? Would the three of them welcome me as their sister? Was there something I needed to be accepted? Did I want to be? Yes, I did. I wanted to belong.

“Well, I’m done eating,” Jade said as she leaned back in her seat. The sass was coming off of her in waves.

“Not all of us are done, Jade. How about you do something if you’re itching to get out?” Nyx asked. Jade scoffed in response but didn’t move.

“Before you head out, I would like to ask why you think Kacie is a witch,” Viktor said.

My eyes about popped out of my head as I turned to look at my mate. What in the world was he thinking? We hadn’t discussed this, had we? Was this the topic to be had over a meal? Why not call another meeting? He didn’t look at me, instead, his gaze wandered over the sisters.

“Would you understand if we told you?” Clara asked, her gaze was locked on Viktor. Jade’s eyes narrowed on Jake and Nyx stared nonchalantly at Viktor. As if this conversation didn’t phase her and maybe it didn’t since it didn’t really pertain to her.

“Maybe, maybe not,” Viktor mulled.

“You wouldn’t but I’ll try and say it in a way that you’ll understand,” Clara said. “We feel her and I’m positive she feels us too.”

“Why now? Why didn’t she feel “it” earlier?” Jake asked. Clara’s gaze wandered over to Jake and she stared at him for a second before answering.

“Nothing I say will be good enough for you. The sooner you accept us, the sooner you’ll accept her,” Clara said.

Her words hit close to home and I knew it was on account of her ability. Jake tensed but didn’t say anything more.

“Are we free to leave now, Alpha?” Clara asked with a hint of sarcasm in her tone.

Ignoring her attitude, Viktor got to his feet and gave me a kiss.

“Have fun. I’ll see you later.”

I nodded as Jake slowly got to his feet. His gaze was on the ground until Viktor moved aside. Raising his chin, he looked me in the eyes as he pulled me to my feet. His arms wrapped around me.

“I do accept you. I just… I don’t accept them,” Jake whispered. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

“I know, Jake… but you need to get used to them. I am the same as them. It would mean the world to me if you could accept them. The longer you hate them, the more anger I feel towards you. I can be only be understanding for so long,” I whispered back. He stilled before taking a step back.

“Understood,” he answered. His gaze was on the ground again.

“Jake-” I started, but he turned around and walked out. Viktor gave me a reassuring smile.

I’ll talk to him.

Thank you, Viktor.

“Let’s get this part started,” Jade said with a smile as soon as they were out of sight. It was probably the first genuine one I’ve seen since their arrival.

The plan was to go shopping, so how did I end up here?

Music was blaring, more jello shots were placed on our table, and Jade was grinding seductively on top of a burly pack member I’ve never seen before. I sat with the witches at a table in a club called The Underworld. I don’t think clubbing was ever my scene but the girls wanted to have a good time. It wasn’t often that they got to socialize with others. Their sob story of living in the woods got me to give in to their demands. Who was I to rain on their parade? I had wanted to spend time with them and this was the way they wanted to do it.

Clara slammed three jello shots back and purred as it started to take effect. Nyx crossed her legs and nursed a gin and tonic. Her gaze trailed back and forth over the people on the dance floor. Her guard was still up and I was glad to see it. It was nice knowing one of the three were being responsible. As for me? I reached down and picked up my shot when Clara tapped me on the shoulder. I looked over to her.

“Let’s do a love shot!” She screamed over the music.

If I hadn’t been a wolf I wouldn’t have heard her, but since I was, I did. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes were glazed over, and it felt nice to be able to see this side of her. Clara was smiling so hard her eyes squinted into little crescent moons. I’ve never seen her smile so much.

What’s a love shot?

Clara scoot closer to me. She giggles as she loops the hand holding her shot with mine. She looks at me in serious innocence that reminds me of a child. She clears her throat and swallows hard.

“You do this,” she screamed looking at our looped hands. “Then on the count of three we throw them back. You get it?” She asked. I nod to show her I understand. “On the count of 3!”

“ONE……. TWO….THREE!!” She screamed.

On the count of three, I threw my head back, my gaze on the ceiling as I swallowed my shot in one gulp. Clara squealed and wiggled in her seat. She clapped and grabbed two more shots.

“Maybe we should slow down,” I laughed.

“Never!” She cried as we looped arms again.

“THREE!” She screamed, skipping the first two numbers. I laughed as I threw back another. What could hurt? I need to kick back and relax for once.
