Kacie

Clara was the last of the sisters to walk through the door. She was devastatingly beautiful. She wore black jeans, a sheer maroon cropped blouse that fell off her shoulders, and a visible black bra underneath. Her black hair fell in loose curls and her light blue eyes landed on Viktor before sliding over to me. The orbs were dimly lit as they dangled from her ears. She practically glided across the room and sat in her seat.

“Good morning,” she greeted me whimsically. “Good morning, Viktor.” Her eyes were on Jake, “Beta.”

“Good morning, Sisters. We’re happy to have you,” I said.

Nyx’s smile widened at my words, Jade’s jaw dropped ever so slightly, and Clara nodded as she stared at me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jake tense.

“Did you guys sleep well?” I asked.

Insert foot in mouth. Yes, I just asked them how they slept. A part of me ignores the worries Jake had expressed concerning the witches. I was well aware of what he thought of them but I ignored it. There was a part of me that wanted to get to know them better. I was at a loss for words and the first thing that came to mind came out.

Thankfully, the kitchen staff stepped forward and the conversation was put on hold while they placed our food on the table. A murmur of thank you’s went around the room as breakfast was served.

“We slept well, thank you,” Nyx said as the staff stepped away.

“Speak for yourself, Sister, I didn’t get much sleep but I was thoroughly satisfied,” Jade said as she pulled at the collar of her turtle neck. Nyx shot Jade a warning glance but Jade wasn’t bothered. Clara giggled, actually giggled.

“Oh, I’m sure,” Clara said under her breath.

“And what about you, Clara? How was the Delta?” Jade asked. Clara smirked at Jade and opened her mouth to speak but before she could, Nyx interrupted. She was clearly the mom of the group.

“This is not the time or the place to be speaking of satisfaction, “Nyx said as she glared at the other two. Jade shrugged and Clara’s eyes darted to Viktor before looking at the table.

“My destined isn’t here,” Jade started, “Plus, they’re wolves. Isn’t sexual activity normal for them?”

“Jade… Clara…”Nyx warned.

“You spoil all the fun,” Jade pouted. Nyx’s white eyes turned back to me and she looked apologetic. “Excuse these two, we aren’t around people much so they forget their manners.”

“Oh, it’s fine, “I start. “We wolves have a healthy sex life but we try to hold off until we find our mate.”

“Did you wait?” Jade asked. I was caught off guard by the question but I answered.

“Yes, I did,” I answer. Jade looked thoughtful at this.

“I don’t think I’ll ever find my destined and I don’t plan on saving myself until I’m old and gray. I’m hopeful but I doubt I will,” Jade said.

Viktor started on his breakfast, a steak omelet with a plate full of greens. Jake hasn’t touched his plate, his eyes move back and forth between the sisters. Jade isn’t the least bit phased as she stares back at Jake. Her eyes drift from Viktor to Jake and I feel a little awkward.

“Are we allowed out?” Jade asked. She tilted her head as she stared at me.

“Not without an escort,” Jake answered.

“I don’t remember asking you. I was asking your Luna,” Jade said.

Her eyes darted to Jake. There wasn’t a hit of malice in her voice but the look in her eye said otherwise. If looks could kill, Jake would be 6 feet under. She turned her attention back to me and a small smile pulled at her lips.

“Is there something you’re wanting to do?” I asked.

“My sisters and I would like to go shopping. It isn’t easy for us to go around. Since we have permission to be here on your lands, we would like to explore and buy some things,” Jade’s smile didn’t meet her eyes.

“You’ll need a guide. I can escort you.”

“Aren’t you here to train Kacie?” Jake asked suspiciously.

“Kacie cannot train with me until she surpasses Clara and Nyx,” Jade’s sharp teeth glinted as she smiled. If I hadn’t already known she was a witch, I would think she was a vampire. “And as I said earlier, I was speaking to your Luna. Please be a good boy, and stop trying to butt in.”

“Jake,” I said. I shot him a look that told him to shimmer down before turning back to Jade. “When did you want to go?”

“It doesn’t matter when. As long as we can,” Jade said.

“I wanted to train with Kacie today. We had to cut our lesson short yesterday,” Clara reminded Jade.

“We can push it off—” I was going to finish that sentence when Clara gave me a look. “Or we could go after training tonight.” The look in Clara’s eyes was distant and she was quiet for a few moments.

“Clara doesn’t believe in days off,” Jade said.

“Clara’s work ethic is what got her this far,” Nyx told Jade.

“We can go after breakfast,” Clara interrupted. Her sisters stared at her in shock. I was just as shocked. I didn’t think she would agree.

“Well, I stand corrected,” Jade said smugly.

“That you do,” Clara said as she held her head high.

There hadn’t been a time when I was alone with the witches. I hadn’t had any one-on-one time to speak with them since their arrival and I wanted to rectify that. There had always been someone present and I wanted the chance to see where they stood when it came to me. Were they all in agreement with Clara? Other than today, Jade had been sure to keep her distance from me and I was sure it was by choice. Had Clara’s sisters really come to help me because they considered me a part of their sisterhood?
