Kacie
Clara didn’t say another word as we walked back to the packhouse. I was too stunned to speak. I couldn’t remember if there was something I was supposed to do or somewhere I needed to be. Her confession was playing on repeat and I was unsure of what to do with the information.
The packhouse was surprisingly empty and we separated with a nod. I knew they would ask how my first session with her went. I wasn’t sure if I would tell Viktor and Jake about it tonight. Was that because I didn’t know how they would react? Or was I not ready to admit out loud that Clara might be right?
A witch? What do I do with this? Do I have to do anything about it or can I keep it to myself? I already knew Kacie and her sisters wouldn’t say anything about it. The other two had to know about it too. Do I continue to trust them to keep it a secret? Do I have a choice? I did trust them to keep it a secret. Does that mean I wanted to tell the whole pack that their Luna is a witch? No. Although the leader in me knows it would be beneficial to help bridge the two worlds and help with the stigma around witches.
My feet slapped against the floor as I walked to my room. My heart began to beat faster the closer I got to my door. I was worried about finding Viktor and Jake in the room. Half of me wanted to tell them about it and find comfort in their arms and the other half wanted to be alone for the rest of the night.
I came to a stop in front of my door I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. It felt as if it were about to explode. I leaned my head against the door and begged my heart to slow down. My vision blurred and I blinked a few times as I fought the tears from spilling down my cheeks.
I’ve been standing in the hall for a few minutes when I finally pull up the nerve to open the door. Pushing open the door, the first thing I notice is the lights are off. When I shut the door behind me I come to the conclusion that no one is home. As I walk further into the room I strip off my clothes.
The smell of smoke lingered even after I stood in my bra and underwear. All I could think of was washing the day’s grime and stench from my skin before I jumped into bed. I wouldn’t be waiting up for them today and prayed sleep would take me as soon as I hit the sheets.
I needed to shower but I couldn’t help but stop beside the bed. I looked longingly at it wanting nothing more than to jump in and curl into a ball under the blankets. The call of a hot shower won out and I turned from the bed.
Dragging my feet, I walked to the bathroom door. I don’t know how I didn’t hear it when I walked through the door but now that I’m outside the door I can hear the water from the shower. I must have a lot on my mind to not hear it with my wolfish senses. Shaking my head I reach for the door handle.
A sound on the other side of the door causes me to freeze before I push the door open. I could hear something other than the sound of water on the other side of the door. Straining to hear, my wolf helped me focus and the noises turned to grunts and the sound of flesh on flesh.
My throat fell to the pit of my stomach and my lips parted when I realized what was happening. Viktor and Jake were having sex. I’m not stupid, I know they’ve had sex before and I didn’t have a problem with that but… they were having sex without me.
My mouth was dry and for the first time since we’d been together, I felt like an outsider. I had been busy so I couldn’t join anyway but they hadn’t even linked me. I couldn’t help the sense of unease that washed over me as I stood outside the door listening to them.
I’m not bothered by them together. We’ve seen them together before. I’m surprised that you’re bothered by it, Kacie.
Am I bothered by it?
That’s what it seems like.
I mean… I feel left out Korra. Does that make me jealous?
You saw them together at the cabin and didn’t feel left out. Why are you actually feeling this way?
I don’t know. I was there for that. It’s not like we’ve had the chance to sit down and talk about boundaries.
Even if you did lay down boundaries, would you have told Jake that he can’t be with Viktor without you present? Isn’t Jake an equal to you and Viktor? Is he an outsider?
No! No… Jake’s not an outsider.
I would think not. Especially since you’ve sort of been with Jake without Viktor.
So this is payback?
That’s not what I’m saying, Kacie. I’m on your side.
Then what are you saying?
Do you have a problem with Jake and Viktor being together? I just want to make sure your anger isn’t misplaced. Is this really about Jake and Viktor or are you upset about the conversation with Clara?
Biting my lip, I acknowledge she’s right. I’ve got a lot on my mind right now and the news from Clara earlier just added to the stress I was already going through. Before I got angry and did or said something I didn’t mean. I needed to figure out why I was feeling the way I was. The three of us have come a long way and I didn’t want to ruin what we have.
