My Alpha's Mark

Kacie

When I left them I’d hoped that Viktor would come running after me but he didn’t. The sky was black and the stars went on and on and I wanted to get lost in it. I had too many thoughts in my head and all of these emotions were overwhelming.

I don’t know how long I was outside but when the sun started to peek out over the horizon I knew I’d been out for too long.

“Fuck.”

“We haven’t done anything wrong, we needed some space,” Athena said in our defense.

“And, if I’m not wrong, I didn’t see him follow us out. I didn’t see him trying to look for us. He could have found us if he wanted to,” she continued. “Hell Kace, he could have linked us but he didn’t.” I whimper at the hurt in her voice.

“You’re right, Athena,” I murmur. She is right. I needed to leave last night or I would have gone to the room and waited for him on the ground. I would have ignored my heart, I would have let my heart bleed all over the floor for him.

“But we can’t hide forever Athena, we need to go back,” I say. We walk slowly in the direction of the packhouse.

When we get back to the packhouse it’s quiet, the morning light starting to fill the rooms and I pluck up the courage to go upstairs. I get back to the room and close the door. My heart is thrumming in my chest as I wonder if Viktor is up.

“Where have you been?” Viktor asks.

I glance at him, not missing the anger in his tone.

I shrug and make my way to the bathroom.

“Wait…” he says.

I stop but don’t turn around. I’m still not ready to face him and talk about what happened last night. I’m not ready to talk about her and I’m not ready to see whatever emotion flashes in his eyes when he talks about her. I’m just not ready yet.

“If you want… we can go out for a drive, get some breakfast, have some us time?” He asks.

I take in a deep breath and exhale before turning around to face him. He sucks in a sharp breath as he sees mine are red. I can’t hide my emotions but I don’t have to talk about them right now.

I shake my head, unable to hide my exhaustion or even pretend to want to talk to him.

“No,” I tell him.

“Are you mad at me Kacie?” He asks in a low whisper.

“No,” I repeat and try to search for words, “I don’t want to go anywhere right now.”

Tears start to well up and I hurt everywhere all at once again. I take a few deep breaths to calm that tightness in my chest. Viktor takes a step close and I hesitate. He pulls me in hugging me to his chest and when I breathe in, his scent fills my senses.

How can I hurt in his embrace? He’s my safe space, he’s my… my thoughts drift to Clara and I push his chest away and take a step back.

Confusion and hurt paint his features. He balls his hands into fists, “Where were you, Kacie?” He growls.

He. Actually. Growled. At. Me. The anger that pulsed in my veins almost burns through my skin. What RIGHT does he have to be angry with me?

“NONE!” Athena growls. “He doesn’t have a right to be angry at us!” She cries and I feel the same pain rip into my heart.

“Why aren’t you answering Kace?” He says and takes a step forward closing the space between us. The submissive in me screams for me to drop to my knees and bow my head. That part of me wants me to offer my neck up to him and flinch away from his anger.

I want to take my punishment for upsetting him. I want to make it up to him. I want him to take my pain, take my heartache and fill me with thoughts of him and only him.

While these thoughts race through my mind, the fire in my chest has spread to my belly and down my arms. For the first time in probably my entire life, I want to fight, I want to scream, I want to hurt him as I hurt.

Tears filled my eyes, and I can barely see him anymore as my body shakes with angry sobs. His arm is like steel around me, and I can feel the heat of his rage coming off his skin.

“Kace,” he says, his voice dangerously low.

I suck in air and twist away from him, pushing his body away. I want to scream. Tears stream down my face, and he just stands there staring at me.

His head drops to my neck and I shiver as a new feeling explodes across my skin. His lips press against my neck and I bite my lip to stifle the moan. His chest rises as he inhales my scent and I can feel my anger lessening at his closeness.

“Vik-” I start but before I can finish the sentence his hands are in my hair, and my head is being twisted to the side as his lips crash down on mine.

I whimper at his taste, his dominance, his warmth that swallows me whole. My clit pulses between my legs and my eyes widen in shock. Oh shit.

He pulls away and swears. And his hand tightens in my hair. He moves from my lips to my cheek, and down to my neck. This time, I arch into his touch, his need, his lips.

Clara. The thought flashed in my mind. Her face fills my thoughts and I feel sick, a tremor rips through my body and his hand slides up past my navel and paws at my breast.

“No, I need to be alone right now,” I say. Ignoring the need to melt into his arms and pretend everything is fine, I squirm out of his hold.
