CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

"Come on, let's get you out of here" He takes my hand and urges me to get up from the chair.

My food!

"Dude, what do you think you are doing?" Seven asks as he furiously seizes my hand from Asher's. "She's about to eat her lunch"

" I'll make her lunch at my place, come on wifey" He tries to take my hand but Seven pulls it away and steps in front of me.

"Seven step away" He says with his eyes closed. He's about to loose it.

" I won't, she's going no where with you" Seven says giving him a deadly stare and I wonder where he got such confidence from. Just one phone call and that will be the end for him, Asher has the power to make that happen.

Asher doesn't flinch at his stare, he shoves one hand in his right pocket and takes one step forward.

"In case I'm not making myself clear, this is a threat!" He says calmly, quietly but in a deadly tone.

"I'm not squeamish" Seven spits and I see Asher clench his fists as he chews his molars. He is trying very hard not to loose it.

"I would punch you right now but that will be very unprofessional of me, so I will rather call the cops to come over and arrest you for trespassing on private property and I will sue you for violation of privacy and the matter is settled."

"Asher no, please don't" I plead as I walk over to his side. " I will go with you, please don't call the cops"

"Luna, I'm not scared of him or his empty threats" Seven brags.

"You think I'm making empty threats huh?" Asher says as he takes out his phone but I seize it from him.

"Luna I have told you to stop worrying, I am not scared of Asher"

"Well I think you should, he is the most powerful Attorney in the country and he owns the law firm you intend to go hire a lawyer from. Do you think you stand a chance against him?"

"Luna I am willing to risk everything for you"

"This is the point where I say you have totally lost your mind"

"Quit the sermon already Seven, whatever your intensions are, I will not let you accomplish them. All this perfect guy picture you are trying to make of yourself will not have Luna at your mercy, not on my watch. So stop all this madness because you and I very well know that you don't mean any of this" Asher says as gently takes my hand and leads me out of the diner, he suddenly stops on his tracks and turns to look at Seven.

"And also, I am going to file a restraining order against you, you will not be allowed to see or even talk to Luna and don't even think about coming here because I will find out and I will sue you for trespassing and invading a pregnant woman's privacy. You know you stand no chance against me on issues like so drop all this soap opera and move on with your life. Luna is out of bounce for you" And then he takes me out if the house, to the driveway where we get into Aston Martin and he drives out of the premises.

"I said six pm"

"The moment I saw Seven's name in that text I got alarmed. I don't want you spending even a second around that guy"

"You know he can never hurt me right?"

"He wouldn't dare"

"I feel bad for not even thanking him for taking out time to cook for me"

"That is exactly what he wants. He is doing all this to get back into your heart and if you let him in, he will hurt you again"

"How are you so sure?"

"Wifey I am an attorney, I know when something fishy is going on. I know when someone is being pretentious or dishonest. I just don't assume things, I investigate and analyze before I conclude and mind you, my conclusions are always very accurate" He explains with his gaze focused on the highway as he drives.

"You know he has been calling non-stop, sending roses every morning and showing up at my place to cook for me. What if he has really changed. What if he regrets his past actions and wants to make up for it? Everyone deserves a second chance right?"

"Don't tell me you have actually fallen for all that. Don't tell me you actually want to consider giving him a chance?" He spits out as he gives me a brief stern look.

"Well, he has been acting like the Seven I have always wanted, it won't bite to give him another chance"

"Luna" He calls softly as he places his hand in mine and gently caresses it.

"I love you, God I love you so much that it drives me crazy to see you in this situation, but I want to let you know that I'm not doing this because I want you to consider giving me a chance. I am not discouraging you from giving Seven another chance because I want you to make space for me in your heart. No. If I court you, I will do it properly. Reason this out with me, while you were with Seven, he never considered doing any of these things for you, you two were like a distant couple and you got fed up so you broke up with him. Two months later he shows up and starts getting all possessive, even when you tell him that you are pregnant with another man's child, he doesn't want to back down. You might think that it's normal but to me, it's fishy"

"What makes you think it's fishy?" I ask curious.

"You do know that we all attended Symphony High School right?"

"Uh... yeah"

"You also know that Ace, Kyle, Seven and I are of the same age group, right?"

"Uh.. yeah. That's true, I remember now, you all were high school seniors when I was in middle school"

"Exactly. So Ace and Seven were sworn enemies"

"Oh wow... why?"

"Women trouble. There were always falling in love with the same girl and the girls always chose Ace" He explains and I chuckle.

That's really funny.

"Yeah, and even when a girl chose Seven she would later on break up with him and go for Ace. That always enraged Seven"

"That's really sad"

"So Ace always used that to make Seven feel less of a man and Seven hated him for it"

"Ace was a dick"

"Oh, he was indeed a dick"

"Did he steal your girls too?"

"Maybe he would, if at all they were any girls"

"Oh..." Is all I can say.

"Ace and Seven never resolved their conflict even when we got to college and till now, the are still rivals"

"Okay... so how does this connect to us?"

"So Seven comes back to town and tries to win you over again despite the fact you are pregnant with another man's child, the man who happens to be Ace, the same guy who has a long history of always snatching his girls. How do you think that news sounded to him?"

And that's when my mind clicks and I finally get his point.

That sneaky son of a cow!

He's not doing all of this because he loves me, he just doesn't want to loose me to Ace like he did with the other girls.
