Chapter 152: The Wedding Vows

Chapter 152: The Wedding Vows

Seeing this, Andrea was shocked and deeply disappointed. Her heart shattered into a million pieces as tears streamed down her face. Her lips trembled as she asked in disbelief, "Val, you—"

She didn't know what to say, feeling suffocated as the air in the room seemed to press down on her. She shut her eyes in pain, tears continuing to roll down her cheeks.

"Andrea, if you want Pete to stay alive, marry me tomorrow morning. I'll be waiting for you at the church. If you fail to show up, don’t blame me for being ruthless." With that, Valentine Anderson turned on his heel and strode out of the room.

Andrea collapsed to the floor, bursting into tears. She couldn't believe that Valentine doubted her. After years of marriage and knowing him, his lack of trust broke her heart.

The door creaked open, and Agatha walked in to see Andrea on the floor. She immediately rushed over. "Andrea, get up. We will definitely find Pete and bring him back to you."

Andrea shook her head, sobbing dejectedly. "It isn't just that."

Agatha, both confused and surprised, wondered what else could have made Andrea so heartbroken. "What happened?"

Andrea sniffed and recounted what Valentine had done. Agatha's face turned cold, and she said gloomily, "Andrea, there is no need to agree to the marriage. We should arrest him and force him to reveal Pete's whereabouts."

Andrea shook her head, crying, "I'm scared, Agatha. He might hurt my son."

Agatha patted her back in an attempt to comfort her, speaking seriously, "Andrea, nothing will happen to Pete. But you shouldn’t marry him."

Andrea retorted, "No, I have to. I have no choice."

Agatha didn’t know what else to say, so she simply stayed by Andrea's side, offering comfort until Andrea fell asleep.

Suddenly, Agatha's phone rang. When she answered, the caller on the other end said, "Miss Agatha, Tony is in the hospital. He was attacked a few minutes ago and was shot in the leg."

Agatha's face turned pale as she heard the news. She immediately replied, "I'll be there."

Without wasting another moment, she quickly left the mansion and headed to the hospital.

As the sun rose the next day, Andrea awoke feeling weak, her expression one of deep sorrow and exhaustion. Her phone began to ring, and with a glance, she saw it was Valentine calling.

She hesitated but eventually answered. Valentine's impatient voice came through the speaker, "I'll be waiting for you at the altar. The guests, my mom, and my sister are already at the church. Hurry up and come, don't keep me waiting. If you do, Pete might lose a toe or a finger, depending on my mood."

The call ended abruptly, leaving Andrea pale and shaken.

The door opened, and Housekeeper Win entered, finding Andrea staring dejectedly at the wedding gown laid out on the bed, looking like a shadow of her former self.

Win frowned at the sight of the wedding gown, puzzled. "Ma'am Andrea, what do you want to do with the wedding gown? Should I take it to the laundry?" she asked tentatively.

Andrea's voice was hoarse as she replied, "Today is my wedding, Mrs. Win."

Mrs. Win's eyes widened in shock. She knew a wedding day was supposed to be the happiest day in a woman's life, but Andrea looked anything but happy. Her eyes were puffy from crying, and her grey eyes were bloodshot.

"Ma'am Andrea, how is that possible?" Mrs. Win asked, stunned.

With a sigh, Andrea looked at her and said, "Call my stylist. I need to go to the church to take the wedding vows. Anyone who wants to come can join us."

Although Housekeeper Win wanted to persuade Andrea otherwise, she knew from years of living with her that Andrea wouldn't change her mind.

Win left the room and used the house phone to call the stylist. Once Andrea was dressed in the wedding gown, her grief couldn't completely hide her radiant beauty. Every step she took turned heads.

Getting into the car, several other cars followed behind her as they drove to the church. When they arrived, they all alighted, and Andrea stood at the church entrance with a bouquet and a veil covering her face.

A group of journalists nearby snapped photos furiously. Taking a deep breath, Andrea walked towards the entrance, each step heavy with resolve.

Soft music filled the church room, emanating gently from the piano.

Every chair inside the church was occupied by guests, their attention focused on the aisle where Valentine Anderson stood. Clad in a handmade suit, he looked both handsome and radiant, his smile filled with happiness. Beside him stood the officiating High Priest.

Step by step, Andrea walked down the aisle. Once everyone had entered the church, the doors were closed.

Andrea stopped before Valentine, her face obscured by a delicate veil, preventing him from seeing her expression.

The High Priest's voice rang out loudly, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Valentine Anderson and Andrea Singers. Today, they come before us to declare their love and commitment to each other in marriage. Love is a journey—a shared adventure of growth, laughter, and endless support. Today, we witness the beginning of a new chapter in their lives together."

With a heightened tone, the High Priest continued, "Valentine Anderson, do you take Andrea Singers to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

"I do," Valentine replied curtly, sounding impatient.

Turning to Andrea, the High Priest asked, "Andrea Singers, do you take Valentine Anderson to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

Andrea hesitated but softly answered, "Yes, I do."

With the vows completed, the altar boy brought the wedding rings forward and presented them to the High Priest.

"The wedding ring is a symbol of eternity, with no beginning and no end. With this ring, Valentine Anderson, do you seal your commitment to Andrea Singers?" the High Priest asked, handing one of the rings to Valentine.

Valentine picked up the ring, ready to slip it onto Andrea's finger, when suddenly the church entrance doors were kicked open. Lucas Anderson burst in, with Tony limping along behind him.
