Chapter 148: A Baby That Belongs To Us
Chapter 148: A Baby That Belongs To Us
Housekeeper Win was taken aback by Tony's sudden anger towards Valentine Anderson, whom he had been promoting. Curious, she asked, "What did Sir Anderson say that made you so angry?"
Tony roughly let go of his grip on Valentine, causing him to lose his footing and struggle to stand.
"Mrs. Win, I will be on my way," Tony replied unhappily, turning around and walking away without looking back.
Valentine struggled to his feet. Despite his vision playing tricks on him, he managed to stand and slowly began climbing the staircase. Although Housekeeper Win wanted to help, she was worried about upsetting Valentine further, so she watched helplessly as it took him thirty minutes to climb the staircase.
As Valentine staggered towards the bedroom, she sighed ruefully and shook her head in pity, convinced that Andrea had made a poor choice in Valentine.
Valentine barged into the bedroom, surprising Andrea, who was sitting on the bed, shocked by his appearance. They had known each other since childhood, but this was the first time she had seen him drunk.
Kicking the door shut, Valentine's gaze locked onto Andrea. Though he intended to speak softly, his intoxicated state made his voice loud as he called out, "Andrea."
Andrea covered her ears, trying to block out the disturbing yell.
Valentine removed his shirt and unbuckled his belt, pulling down his trousers and kicking them away. He looked at Andrea and said coldly, "Tonight, we're going to make a baby, one that belongs to us."
Andrea was speechless at Valentine's actions. Annoyed, she got down from the bed, walked towards him, and slapped his face in anger. "Val, what do you take me for? You left the house for so many days, and when you return, you didn't bother to call or check on our son. You came back drunk and demanded we make a baby. Has your conscience been eaten by a dog?"
Valentine glared at Andrea aggressively and roared, "I don't care, we must make a baby tonight."
He grabbed Andrea's neck and forcefully kissed her, hungrily devouring her lips while trying to rip her nightgown.
Andrea angrily pushed him away and scolded, "Scum!"
Valentine landed on the bed and immediately fell asleep. Andrea's raised hand hung in mid-air.
She was so enraged by Valentine's behavior and the stench of alcohol on his breath that she furiously wiped her lips and went to wash her mouth. Looking at the snoring man on the bed with disappointment, she decided to sleep in another bedroom.
Andrea sat on the bed and stared out the window. The more she thought about Valentine's recent behavior, the more she considered ending their relationship. Frustrated, she lay down and eventually fell asleep. When she woke up the next morning, it was already 10 AM.
She was supposed to have a meeting with Agatha regarding some decisions. Although Agatha was acting as the CEO of Singers Group, every decision she made was instructed by Andrea.
Andrea hesitated, unsure whether to enter the bedroom where Valentine was sleeping to prepare for work or to send a maid to fetch what she needed. She didn't want to see Valentine.
While she was pondering her decision, Valentine opened the door and walked in. His hands were covered in blood, and the moment he entered the room, he fell to his knees, his face filled with tears, frightening Andrea.
"Andrea, I'm sorry. I was drunk and said so many stupid things yesterday. Please forgive me. I promise I will never get drunk again. I love you so much, and I will never do anything to hurt you, even if it means hurting myself," he pleaded anxiously, crawling toward her.
Andrea's heart melted at the sight of him, and the blood on his hands made her worry. She hurried toward him and said, "Quickly, get up. Let's get your wound treated before it gets infected."
"My physical wound is nothing compared to how my heart aches. I am scum. I don't deserve you, Andrea. I now realize why you refuse to agree to marry me and take another vow. I'm stupid and useless, a scum and a vagabond," Valentine scolded himself mercilessly, smacking his face.
Andrea was terrified by his actions and words. Flustered, her face flushed as she tried to pull him up. "Stop! Stop, Valentine!" she said anxiously, unable to bear listening.
"Does that mean you're going to marry me tomorrow?" Valentine suddenly asked, his eyes filled with hope.
Andrea froze, her arms still pulling him up from his kneeling position.
Valentine smiled in self-deprecation and said dejectedly, "I understand, Andrea. I am such a failure. I will get up and walk away. I don't deserve you or Pete. I am a failure of a husband and father."
He stood up with a face filled with sadness and turned to leave, but Andrea grabbed his arm, preventing him from going.
Looking at his sad face, Andrea took a deep breath and said, "I will marry you tomorrow."
Valentine's eyes lit up, and he said joyfully, "I love you, Andrea. I will immediately go and get myself treated."
Valentine turned around and left the room. Silence enveloped her, and her chest tightened at the thought of possibly making the wrong choice.
After preparing for work, she got into her car and drove to her office.
Andrea zoned out from time to time while discussing with Agatha. When Agatha noticed, she asked, "Andrea, are you alright? You seem distracted. What's bothering you?"
Rubbing her forehead, Andrea responded in frustration, "It's Valentine. He's changed so much, and he scares me now."
Agatha looked at Andrea seriously and said, "Andrea, it sounds like you've fallen out of love with him."
Furrowing her eyebrows, Andrea pondered Agatha's words. She grew even more frustrated as she voiced her thoughts, "It's not just that. He still wants us to get married and even threatened to leave if we don't. Do you think I should marry him, for Pete's sake? Because I don't think I love him anymore."
