Chapter 147: He Is Not My Son!
Chapter 147: He Is Not My Son!
Valentine Anderson drove directly to the hospital, having already called his personal doctor. Arriving, Doctor Steve was taken aback to see that the man who had just spoken to him on the phone looked different from the Valentine Anderson he remembered.
"It's me, Steve. I need your help," Valentine said as he noticed Doctor Steve staring at him in silence.
Though Doctor Steve was quiet, his mind was racing. He knew Valentine had been a bomb victim, and recent news reports had mentioned him, though Steve had dismissed them as baseless rumors. Now, seeing Valentine looking exactly like the deceased Pascal Willow, he couldn't deny the reality anymore.
"Let's go to my office," Doctor Steve finally said, snapping out of his thoughts and quickly making a decision.
They walked into the office together and sat down, facing each other.
"I need you to do a DNA test," Valentine said immediately, impatience clear in his voice. He had no time for small talk or reminiscing; he needed answers about Pete.
Doctor Steve, still processing everything, asked in surprise, "What do you need a DNA test for? Did someone claim you have a son?"
Valentine frowned at the tone, retorting unhappily, "Andrea brought a boy back and claimed he’s my child. I need a DNA test to confirm it."
Steve's curiosity was piqued. "How old is the child?" he asked.
Valentine furrowed his brow, looking unsure. "Seven or eight years old, or so."
Doctor Steve looked at Valentine silently for a moment before speaking. "Valentine, that's impossible. Even if you had a son, it would have to be after you treated your low sperm count. I told you about this years ago, but you refused the treatment. If you still managed to father a child with such a condition, it would be a miracle. I'll conduct the DNA test, but it won't be cheap."
Valentine's face darkened as memories flooded back. A few years into his marriage with Andrea, they had come to the hospital to find out why they couldn't conceive. Doctor Steve had secretly informed him about his low sperm count, but Valentine had dismissed it as a ploy by Steve, who had had a crush on Andrea in college, to make him seem incapable.
Now, hearing this again, Valentine realized the DNA result from Margret Willow wasn't falsified. Pete wasn't his son. His eyes filled with tears, and frustration contorted his face. He sprang to his feet in anguish, shocking Doctor Steve.
With a cold glance, Valentine threatened, "Don't let anyone hear about this, or I'll drag you down with me."
Finished, he turned and strode out of the office. Once in his car, he drove away from the hospital, his mind in turmoil.
Valentine Anderson circled the entire city before stopping at a bar as evening fell.
Andrea called, but he turned off his phone, stepped out of the car, and walked into the bar.
"Get me your best liquor, the strongest one," he demanded loudly, adding, "I have money."
The bartender's eyes lit up with excitement. "Right away, sir," he replied eagerly.
Soon, high-end liquor bottles were served at Valentine's table. Retrieving his bank card from his pocket, he made the payment and opened one of the bottles, gulping it down in one go, shocking the other patrons.
His eyelids drooped and his hands shook slightly as the alcohol started to take effect, but he didn't care. He reached for another bottle, but a hand grabbed it first.
"Who are you?" Valentine roared angrily, his voice slurred and his breath reeking of alcohol.
Tony glared at Valentine with fury. He couldn't believe that the man Andrea was supposed to spend her life with was a good-for-nothing drunkard who could down an entire bottle of liquor.
He retorted sharply, "Valentine Anderson, you're a married man. You should be at home with your son and wife, not in a bar drinking like a loose man."
If Andrea hadn't asked him to track Valentine, he would never have known how unreliable he was.
"I don't have a son!" Valentine retorted angrily in his drunken state.
Tony's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected Valentine to say such a thing.
His chest heaved with anger. He couldn't believe Valentine was a wasted drunkard who spouted nonsense while drunk and still had the audacity to drink more.
Slamming the table and grabbing Valentine's collar, he forced him to his feet. He wouldn't allow anyone to insult Andrea's dignity.
"I'm taking you home right now," Tony snapped coldly, dragging Valentine towards the bar exit while gripping his collar tightly.
"Let go of me," Valentine struggled, trying to pry Tony's hand away, but Tony clenched his fist and punched Valentine's stomach.
"Argh!" Valentine doubled over in pain.
Tony pulled him out of the bar without expression and tossed him into the car. He slammed the car door furiously, climbed into the driver's seat, and stepped on the accelerator, driving straight to the Singers' mansion.
Tony pulled the car over at the Singers mansion, got out, and went inside. When he arrived in the living room, he noticed that Pete was in his room, and the only person present was Housekeeper Win.
"Mrs. Win, has Pete gone to bed?" Tony asked tentatively. He didn't want Pete to see his father drunk and disheveled.
"Yes, he went to his room about forty minutes ago. Is something the matter?" Housekeeper Win replied.
Tony's face was sullen. He didn't respond to her question; instead, he went back outside to the car and helped the very drunk Valentine Anderson into the house, dragging him into the living room.
"What happened to him?" Housekeeper Win asked, concerned.
"Call someone to help get him to the bedroom. He's drunk and spouting nonsense," Tony said angrily. What Valentine had been mumbling had made him very furious.
