Chapter 40: He Got Shot
Chapter 40: He Got Shot
Agatha was left speechless by Banito's question, realizing the gravity of her actions. Before she could respond, a gunshot rang out, quickly followed by a barrage of gunfire outside the cabin. The ship descended into chaos as Mr. Singers and Banito's men engaged in a fierce gun battle.
"Get out if you want to live!" Banito's voice was sharp and urgent, his impatience palpable. Unaware of the reinforcements Mr. Singers had on board and the situation outside, Banito had no time to waste on a frightened young girl.
Nervously, Agatha swallowed hard as the relentless gunfire intensified, causing her heart to race and fear to grip her entire body. She had never experienced such terror before, the repeated shots echoing through the ship a stark reminder of the danger surrounding her.
Without another word, Banito didn't wait for Agatha to move. He swiftly pulled the trigger, sending a bullet into the cabin's roof.
Agatha abruptly snapped out of her daze and swiftly dropped to the floor, her complexion drained of color.
"Hand over the code, Singers," Banito demanded in a menacing tone. "I didn't give it to you before, why would I do so now?" Mr. Singers retorted, his expression icy.
Banito let out a chilling, sinister laugh, his fingers casually toying with the loaded gun as he asked with a hint of malice, "You have a lovely daughter. Do you want to see her meet the same fate as your wife?"
Internally, Banito lamented his miscalculation. It seemed impossible to extract the code from Mr. Singers with his current approach. If only he had known Andrea's true identity, he could have used her as leverage to force Mr. Singers to surrender the code earlier.
"That might have been an option if you hadn't come aboard this ship. None of us will be leaving here alive," Mr. Singers declared boldly, showing no sign of fear or reluctance to face the prospect of death.
Banito's face froze as he grappled with the shock of Mr. Singers' sudden and drastic decision to end everyone's lives, including his own. He realized he had unwittingly fallen into a dangerous trap.
"Please, no! I don't want to die!" Agatha's desperate plea pierced the tense air, her fear of death palpable. The sound of gunfire and Mr. Singers' chilling words rattled her to the core. With the gun in Banito's trembling hand and the gravity of the situation sinking in, Agatha knew that death was looming closer than ever before.
Driven by a mix of frustration and anger at Agatha's cries, Banito gritted his teeth and fired three shots into the floor near her, causing her to flinch in terror. "Get out of here, you coward!" he barked at her, his voice laced with contempt.
Without hesitation, Agatha scrambled to her feet and fled from the cabin, her sobs echoing in the corridor as she sought safety from the unfolding chaos.
Alone with Mr. Singers, Banito locked eyes with him, his gaze unwavering. "Singers, you can't deceive me. I know who you really are. You don't have it in you to kill us all. Your own people are on this ship. You can't expect me to believe such a blatant lie."
Mr. Singers defiantly shook his head and declared, "I will go to any lengths for my daughter - none of your lives can hold a candle to hers."
Banito's expression darkened as he suddenly realized that Mr. Singers wasn't merely making idle threats. It became clear that Singers had disclosed his daughter's identity not to sway Agatha's decision, but to jog Banito's memory about a promise made years ago.
Banito could never erase from his mind the image of Mr. Singers standing resolute on a bridge, locking eyes with him as he vowed, "Once I locate my daughter, I'll ensure that despicable fiends like you are eradicated." Without hesitation, Singers leaped into the river below after delivering his chilling ultimatum.
Despite believing Singers had perished in the water, Banito later discovered that not only had Singers survived, but he had also carved out a formidable reputation for himself.
Maintaining a facade of calm, Banito sneered coldly, "Singers, you've surpassed even my own ruthlessness. Bombing us all won't halt my associates from tracking down your daughter."
Mr. Singers' defiant retort echoed through the cabin, "Who said I am going to bomb the ship?"
Banito's expression darkened as he pondered the imminent threat posed by Mr. Singers. In a swift motion, Mr. Singers produced a firearm from his back, and without hesitation, he fired a shot that struck Mr. Singers' shirt.
Unfazed by the impact, Mr. Singers revealed his hidden armor, leaving Banito little time to react before a bullet found its mark in his arm.
Responding quickly, Banito returned fire, hitting Mr. Singers in the leg. Despite the exchange of gunfire, the outcome was inevitable. Banito dropped his weapon and collapsed to the ground, his lifeblood pooling around him as he drew his final breath.
Struggling towards the cabin's exit, Mr. Singers left a trail of blood in his wake. As the cabin door swung open, Agatha entered, only to be overcome with fear and faint at the sight of Mr. Singers.
As Mr. Singers struggled to escape the cabin, three helicopters suddenly hovered over the ship.
Two helicopters touched down on the deck, and Tony emerged with a group of armed men. They swiftly joined forces with Mr. Singers' remaining men to confront Banito's forces.
Tony sprinted towards the cabin where Mr. Singers was attempting to crawl out. Upon reaching him, Tony's face betrayed his anxiety and concern. "Take me to my daughter," Mr. Singers pleaded in a barely audible whisper, his voice strained with pain and exhaustion.
"Mr. Singers, let me get you to the hospital," Tony implored, his own eyes welling up with tears.
"No, take me to my daughter, Tony. I need to see her and hear her call me daddy," Mr. Singers insisted, gasping for breath, his pallid face a testament to the blood he had lost.
"Move quickly, get him on board," Tony commanded his men, who promptly brought a stretcher. As they prepared to lift Mr. Singers onto it, Agatha stirred from unconsciousness.
Upon waking up and laying eyes on Tony, Agatha's voice quivered with fear as she breathlessly exclaimed, "Tony, Mr. Singers has been shot."
