Chapter 32: Between Love And Loyalty
Chapter 32: Between Love And Loyalty
He remained dissatisfied with the outcome until Andrea was found.
"Intensify the patrols," Mr. Singers abruptly issued a command.
A historic event unfolded in Sunshine City as a no-fly zone was declared in its airspace. Hundreds of military helicopters loomed overhead, creating an atmosphere of impending conflict. The tension in the air of Sunshine City was palpable.
The elite residents of Sunshine City were rattled by these actions and promptly convened a meeting. Even Mr. Sylvester was taken aback; he had not anticipated the extent of Mr. Singers' influence within both the military and political circles of the country. He had indeed underestimated his adversary.
Gathered in the hall, Mr. Gibson's expression was grim. Had Mr. Singers not unveiled his power, he might have still harbored hopes of reclaiming the shares he had relinquished just days before. However, in the face of this display of strength, all such aspirations evaporated into thin air.
"Sylvester, you know Mr. Singers the best. What's happening? Are we at war?" asked a man in a white suit, his eyes wide with fear as he witnessed a scene straight out of a movie, a sight he had never thought he would experience in real life.
"His wife has been kidnapped," Sylvester sighed heavily, grateful that he had not gone through with his plan to harm Andrea. Mr. Singers' intense love for his wife was incomprehensible and suffocating, driving him to actions that left others bewildered.
The elite members of Sunshine City exchanged worried glances, their faces reflecting the fear that gripped their hearts. They sighed and gave a minute of silence to the death courter who kidnapped Andrea.
Agatha, unaware of her declared death, attempted to smuggle Andrea out of Sunshine City without success. Despite her elevated status, she found it impossible to achieve her goal.
Frustrated and angry, Agatha struggled to contain her emotions.
"Miss Agatha, this place is no longer safe. If we stay, we will be discovered," a man a few meters away warned her.
Their attempts to jam satellite and GPS tracking had failed, and the relentless pursuit by their adversaries left them defenseless.
"Miss Agatha, you said we were doing this for Mr. Singers..." a man in the room stammered, fear evident in his voice and on his face.
The incessant swarm of helicopters overhead far exceeded anything he had ever witnessed, both in reality and in images on screens and billboards.
"Quiet, all of you!" Agatha yelled in frustration and anger.
Agatha was taken aback by Mr. Singers' unexpectedly lavish display of affection towards Andrea. Despite working alongside him for many years, she had never suspected he harbored such intense feelings.
Glancing at the door with a steely expression, Agatha's anger boiled over, propelling her towards it. With a swift motion, she yanked the door open and stormed inside.
Her eyes locked onto Andrea, who lay bound on the floor. "What have you given him? Why does he favor you so? Why did he choose you over me?" Agatha's voice rose to a frenzied pitch as she unleashed her pent-up emotions, teetering on the brink of madness.
Tears cascaded down Andrea's terrified face as she met Agatha's furious gaze. "I'll put an end to this today. If I can't have him, neither can you," she vowed, her voice trembling with desperation.
In a sudden, chilling move, Agatha brandished the gun she had concealed all along, causing Andrea's eyes to widen in terror.
Unbeknownst to her, the hideout where they sought refuge was already besieged by Mr. Singers' men.
"Damn it! We've been discovered," the man in charge of the control room cursed in anger as he swiftly rose to his feet. Before he could react, a bloody hole appeared on his forehead, courtesy of a sniper positioned three blocks away.
Agatha's other men scattered in hiding were not as fortunate. Tony and his men stormed in, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake.
Mr. Singers had made it clear: no hostages. Anyone involved in his daughter's kidnapping was to be eliminated on sight.
As the gunfire drew closer to Andrea's location, panic set in among the men Agatha had stationed in the room. One of them burst into the room where Andrea was held captive and urgently whispered to Agatha, "Miss Agatha, we've been found. We need to go."
Agatha turned to him, her voice devoid of emotion. "You all leave. I'm not coming with you."
"You've lost your mind!" the man exclaimed in disbelief before fleeing. He regrouped with the others, and they headed towards the secret escape route. Unfortunately, they were intercepted and gunned down.
Agatha seemed indifferent to the fate of the others. Instead, she fixed a sinister gaze on Andrea. "I always dreamed of the day I would marry Mr. Singers. You ruined everything! You deserve to die. However, if I kill you, Mr. Singers will never marry me. If I keep you alive as my hostage, I can force him to marry me. How does that sound?"
After her chilling speech, Agatha smiled brightly at Andrea, sending shivers down her spine.
"Agatha," Tony interjected, his voice filled with disappointment and hurt. He couldn't bear to see the woman he deeply loved stoop so low.
Agatha abruptly rose to her feet and stepped over Andrea, aiming her gun directly at her while fixing a sharp gaze on Tony. "Where is he?" she demanded impatiently.
A look of concern crossed Tony's face as he received a notification through the earpiece about Mr. Singers' imminent arrival. His expression changed dramatically, realizing the gravity of the situation.
"Agatha, please stop this madness! I can help you escape. You need to run away right now!" Tony urged urgently, his voice tinged with fear for Agatha's safety, knowing what Mr. Singers was capable of.
Ever since learning Andrea's true identity from Mr. Singers, Tony understood the significance of her to him. He was unsure if Mr. Singers would show any mercy towards Agatha.
